Neighbours have friends round

Why are people so stupid?! I’ve seen posts about reporting to the police but can they do anything if it’s in their own home? There’s only 2 people round.

Why are you paying so much attention?

Judge not......

Frigginella · 28/03/2020 21:52

Because we’ve been told the way to stop the spread is to not have people in our homes and no gatherings? I only know because they’re so loud I can hear Individual voices

YANBU. Report it if you want

Judge away OP, I'm with you. There really is no accounting for how stupid people are being. It's a bit like drink driving in that they are just as likely to cause harm to others as to themselves.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 28/03/2020 21:57

I have the same with the neighbour on one side.

Ridiculous people but I go nowhere near anyway and not about to start now.

Cunninglittlevixen · 28/03/2020 21:59

Judge away. Dick heads. Unless of course they're just zooming!

HoffiCoffi13 · 28/03/2020 21:59

You can only control your actions, not other people’s. If you are staying at home, maintaining 2 meter distance from everyone else when out on essential errands and washing your hands, you’ll be fine. What they are doing does not impact you.

starrynight19 · 28/03/2020 21:59

Some people will just not listen until it affects them directly. Selfish

Frigginella · 28/03/2020 22:01

It may impact me, I’m a nurse and bitter than I’m being put at risk by people like this.

OP posts:
Jaxhog · 28/03/2020 22:02

Report them. Until and unless they get a visit from the police, they will carry on doing it. It isn't just one person, it's thousands. There are far too many people doing this with flagrant disregard for other people's lives.

OldGranvilleHouse · 28/03/2020 22:02

Yes, very selfish. And obviously very stupid as well.

Frigginella · 28/03/2020 22:02

Definitely not zoom. There’s 2 cars outside I’ve just seen when taking the rubbish put

OP posts:
HoffiCoffi13 · 28/03/2020 22:03

Report them to who? The police round here have asked that people do not phone and report flouting of the rules, as they do not have the capacity to deal with it.

Badgerstmary · 28/03/2020 22:03

It’s hard isn’t it op. I was silently fuming earlier with my neighbour. She had her gardener over who kept 2m away from her, but she kept going right up to her & talked to her standing right up close to her. Why do people think the rules don’t apply to them?

thistimelastweek · 28/03/2020 22:04

You do know that real crime is still happening? Like murder, robbery and shit?

goldenorbspider · 28/03/2020 22:05

It's a stressful time, can't control what other people do.

DowntonCrabby · 28/03/2020 22:06

I’d judge too. Report if you’re sure.
My neighbours would currently hear extra voices though as DH is having a very heated house party.com “pub quiz” with his parents and siblings.

Frigginella · 28/03/2020 22:07

I’d love nothing more than to be able to stay in and just go for daily walks and to the supermarket once a week.
Instead I leave my children home and go to work not knowing if I’ll be coming into contact with ‘it’ that day. So to see people ignoring advice is infuriating.

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 28/03/2020 22:07

Unless im mistaken there is nothing in the new laws that give the police powers in a private residence.

But it’s new legislation so I’m prepared to be proved wrong.

Frigginella · 28/03/2020 22:08

I’m only asking because our local police asked for this to be reported online however not sure if that was gatherings outside and there is only about 2 extra people I think.

OP posts:
Cunninglittlevixen · 28/03/2020 22:11

Hofficoffi- and how can you be sure exactly that next door neighbours having friends around is not going to impact the op?!

HoffiCoffi13 · 28/03/2020 22:24

I can’t be sure. But I can be sure that you can only control your own actions, not those of other people. I’ve spent far too much time stressing about what other people are doing during this pandemic, and it’s pointless. I am responsible for myself and my family.

Frigginella · 28/03/2020 22:25

@HoffiCoffi13 but surely people have some responsibility for protecting frontline key workers?

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 28/03/2020 22:26

But you can’t control other people’s actions. So don’t stress yourself out about it.

Cunninglittlevixen · 28/03/2020 22:26

Following that logic, mumsnet's pretty pointless as well
