Just that.. Seems like the "Karens", judgy people are out. Maybe it's just the slack time.

elshajd · 24/03/2020 15:35

Yes, a lot of twats are out but using any name to describe them is unacceptable especially when you are using my Mum's name

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 24/03/2020 15:37

ooh please dont use a name

BecauseReasons · 24/03/2020 15:37

Out as in outside? Or as in on Mumsnet? If the former, that's not been my experience. If the latter, YANBU.

iheartislesofwight · 24/03/2020 15:39

some twats are using a name too to insult others

Convict225 · 24/03/2020 15:41

Reddit?

Arealmanithink · 24/03/2020 15:41

No offense.. Just that name has current connotations that reflect what I mean. Sorry. I have best friends that are Karens..[Grin]

ArriettyJones · 24/03/2020 15:44

Who? Where? Yes I am noticing a few, but if you could describe what you mean (without the Karen business) we will all be able to decide if we have the same kill list Smile

fromdownwest · 24/03/2020 15:47

The oooh look at me I can work from home, and earn some money on my phone, so lucky to have my own 'business' I am soooo lucky people are out in smug force!

ArriettyJones · 24/03/2020 15:52

I don’t think my kill list has ANY overlap with yours TBH @fromdownwest Grin

SarahTancredi · 24/03/2020 15:57

Well the "I'm gonna decide what people are allowed to do and if i dont think it qualifies as exercise then its not exercise and they are being twats even though I'm.probably closer to my neighbour in the garden than the 2 dog walkers 20 metres apart" people are out in force. Does that count ?

Doobigetta · 24/03/2020 15:58

Yep. I’m unfollowing any Facebook friend who posts STAY AT HOME AND PROTECT ME rants. I don’t know what they think they’re achieving, everyone knows what they’re supposed to be doing. And everyone has their own sources of stress. I’ve unfollowed a LOT of people.

ArriettyJones · 24/03/2020 16:01

Yeah, those ones @SarahTancredi - right with you.

I hope those people aren’t all going to be appointed community wardens and do mad with misdirected power. (I’m thinking of the ARP guy in Dad’s Army for some reason Hmm

Tootletum · 24/03/2020 16:04

Oh yes they are and it'll take a while for them to go again. Always happens. They're all the prefects at school. I never broke a rule and I don't now, but somehow there was always a girl who found a reason to give me a lecture. Nothing's changed.

SarahTancredi · 24/03/2020 16:06

Probably the ones who would step outside their homes and approach you ergo breaking the 6ft rule and then have a right go...Hmm

ArriettyJones · 24/03/2020 16:08

They’ll probably run out of their houses screaming at patients not to approach paramedics should the worst happen Grin

Shouldn’t laugh, but hey.

floffel · 24/03/2020 16:17

I can’t help but notice that all the ‘anti-vaccine’ folks have gone very very quiet.

A tiny benefit of this terrible virus is that everyone who was previously ‘anti-vaccine’ understands the consequences of what viruses can do to the human body and that when science allows us to create a vaccine that spares the human race the worst of it, then we should welcome it with open arms.

Mrsfrumble · 24/03/2020 16:25

Yep. Not just on MN. We took the kids for a walk on Saturday, following the advice on the government website (as it stood on Saturday) by heading for the emptiest part of town. We distanced from other people and didn’t use public transport (even tough the children were moaning in the way home that their legs were tired). DH took some photos and put them on FB for the grandparents, and someone posted that photo of the medics holding the “Stay Home” sign in response. It’s petty, but I’ve been itching all day to reply and point out that WE WERE NOT FUCKING DOING ANYTHING WRONG! We were following the advice given at the time! And to stop being so bloody passive aggressive and use her own words if she wants to express disapproval. But it’s not someone I actually know so I won’t.

Someone called them “tinpot dictators” on another thread, which made me snort.

converseandjeans · 24/03/2020 16:28

What is the relevance of using the name Karen?

BecauseReasons · 24/03/2020 16:33

@converseandjeans it's a meme

tryingtoprep · 24/03/2020 16:34

I thought this was going to be about the people playing loud shit music (it's always the shit music that's the loudest) or having the loudest conversations ever in their gardens. I'm just waiting for next door to start on their leaf blower. I hope they're banned whilst we're lockdown.

I'm a little nervous about people peering out of their Windows tutting when I go for my brief walk.

What's a Karen? I had a friend called Karen at school. She was lovely.

PlonkyPlink · 24/03/2020 16:35

I’m a frontline NHS worker and the guidance is clear. It’s fine to exercise away from others. We need to survive this physically and mentally. I or my husband will be taking our children out for a walk over the fields near us or for a bike ride daily. We don’t have to drive to get exercise, but it’s fine to drive to less crowded areas if you need to. I’m not engaging with anyone who says otherwise.
The main selfish issue for me is people panic buying paracetamol, or trying to stockpile prescription medicines, or asking for inhalers “just in case” even though they’ve not needed one since they were 7 and are now 32. People are still not giving a fuck about others who actually need this stuff to survive. Rant over.

SarahTancredi · 24/03/2020 16:38

Yy I'm sic to death already of this comparative I'm better at staying home than you nonsense.

How on earth could they possibly even know if someone isnt shopping/ working/ doing their exercise/making an.i necessary to etc when they are indoors at home and haven't even asked them...

I mean wtf

And yes I've seen the people calling others idiots on the tube trains. Well if they have to work and theres fewer trains then what did they expect would happen Hmm

And how is it abyones fault.

I cannot believe how nasty pwoow are being. Threatening calling the police etc

Yes inevitably some people will be twats but theres no way to know.

And frankly the way the houses are laid out here I was further away from people outside on the field than I am when i go outside to feed ny rabbit

SarahTancredi · 24/03/2020 16:39

Sorry about typosBlush

trappedsincesundaymorn · 24/03/2020 16:48

I swear to God there are some people in the village that are just itching to be able to take a 2 metre long stick out and measure the distance between people. I was told that I shouldn't be out in my garden (hanging washing) as my fence "wasn't tall enough to stop the virus" going next door and I was to stand at least 2 metres away from it.

DianneWhatcock · 24/03/2020 16:50

why do people use the name Karen? I know a karen, and she is one of the nicest people ever!
