Refusing to refund my money

refundmymoneynow · 23/03/2020 11:26

I've booked an appointment to have my nose pierced with a tattoo parlour, they have several studios in England. I've made the mistake and booked to have it done at their Glasgow studio when I'm in London, I've paid online and they're now refusing to refund the money. It was £25. I don't know what to do Sad

I would contact the London shop and see if they will honour your piercing when all this is over.

emmskie03 · 24/03/2020 18:47

YOU booked the wrong place. You cannot expect them to refund you for your error.

ffswhatnext · 24/03/2020 18:48

What has the ops age got to do with anything?

alliecader · 24/03/2020 18:53

We're losing tons of money in the middle of moving house. One man had resigned his job to work in another part of the country. Now trapped indefinitely in the house his family are meant to have left this week and unable to start new job. Couples are losing all they saved for their weddings.

Oh, and people are dying.

serialtester · 24/03/2020 19:01

I'll send the OP £25 if you all shut up.

FelicisNox · 24/03/2020 20:09

If I can write off 2 sets of theatre tickets and a Harry Potter bus tour you can lose £25.

We may also lose £4000 for our summer holiday as well so I'm sorry but I just can't summon up the sympathy.

OJZJ · 24/03/2020 20:27

I paid for a chalet for a week next week and had to write that off as well... damn site more than 25quid sadly

OJZJ · 24/03/2020 21:03

Oh and as other posters have pointed out, people are dying...

Ninkanink · 24/03/2020 21:06

Those of you going on about much bigger sums, that’s really not on. Chances are if you’re spending on big ticket items and chalet holidays, you’ve got a lot more money than someone who’s sad about losing £25, so you can afford to suck it up much more easily.

Vinipote · 24/03/2020 21:07

What a wally

haveyoutriedgoogle · 24/03/2020 21:10

I think the point is that she wants a refund & she’s not getting it. If it wasn’t a pandemic she would have received a refund.
Incorrect. She made the error, pre pandemic, therefore no refund.

Shewhomustbeobeyed1 · 24/03/2020 21:27

YABU to get your nose pierced. Your mistake. Suck it up!

You could have a case given that we're under lock down and you wouldn't be able to go as they're likely shut anyway. It really is the principle of it. Presumably they have a policy on cancellation, check the website. My hairdressers operate a 48 hr notification or you pay up.

scubadive · 25/03/2020 07:35

As all shops are now closed they can’t honour your booking so need to refund.

At a minimum they should honour your booking in the future.

However, I am not sure I would want a piercing in a shop that treats their customers like this, it doesn’t sound like the best of places!

Aglet · 25/03/2020 07:54

How about forgetting it. It's a revolting sight anyway. Think of all that snot sticking to it.

Frontlineson · 25/03/2020 08:11

Forget it and move on, not worth worrying about.

hiptobeasquare · 25/03/2020 08:58

Unfortunately, you don’t have any rights in this situation. A 14 day cooling off period would not apply as it was booked for a specific time and place so is exempt from consumer contract regulations.
You also have no come back with your refit card under section 75 as the amount is under 100.
You will have to try and get a goodwill gesture so see if they will reschedule it for you.

Anele22 · 25/03/2020 09:24

Surely they can’t offer the service so they have to refund. Regardless of where the salon is.

Barney60 · 25/03/2020 11:21

not with these knees! hilarious!

can you ask them rather than refund to transfer to local shop, and get it done when all this is over?

curlymom · 25/03/2020 18:46

Hello, they will be closed now anyway so just email and say you are coming and they will offer a refund. Sorted

DreamTheMoors · 26/03/2020 02:31

Not sure I’d be all that anxious to do business with such an inflexible business anyway.

Sorry @refundmymoneynow - looks like you’re out 25 quid but you’re probably better off in the long run.

Amotherof6 · 26/03/2020 11:34

This one made me giggle

That's OP....

Sissymate2 · 26/03/2020 18:00

Some of these replies are brilliantly clever....what fabulous problem-solving skills some of MNETTERS possess....having trouble picking a fave....I really did chuckle at the strung-together cocktail picks., omg and the social distancing from London to Glasgow.....IMHO, they are allllll 😂

On another note...I do hope OP gets a refund!

HopelessLayout · 26/03/2020 18:21

As others have said, whether the appointment is supposed to be in Glasgow or in London; the salon can no longer honour the date as it it supposed to be shut down.
So a full refund is owed.
