Refusing to refund my money

refundmymoneynow · 23/03/2020 11:26

I've booked an appointment to have my nose pierced with a tattoo parlour, they have several studios in England. I've made the mistake and booked to have it done at their Glasgow studio when I'm in London, I've paid online and they're now refusing to refund the money. It was £25. I don't know what to do Sad

OP posts:

Maybe a bird with a very pointed beak? Perhaps a chough? It could peck through, youd need to fit your own jewelry mind. Would that be a problem?

ilovebrie8 · 23/03/2020 15:24

@damnthatanxiety If the OP was on the breadline or in a precarious financial situation how the heck would they be spending on piercings...common sense surely, if you are living hand to mouth or no savings for a rainy day then piercings are not high on your to do list...

LolaDarkdestroyer · 23/03/2020 16:39

Everything happens for a reason..you booked the wrong place, so can't go...IF you had gone to the London one and got it done you may have caught the corona "the lord moves in mysterious ways"

damnthatanxiety · 23/03/2020 17:36

ilovebrie8 The OP booked a while ago. EVERYTHING has changed. People who were fine a few weeks ago are now not doing ok. They are losing their incomes. They are struggling. They were fine a few weeks ago. This is the problem - people with no thoughts of poverty are now wondering if they will have a roof over their heads. How do you not realise this????

Myshitisreal · 23/03/2020 17:38

I cancelled my nose piercing I had booked 😭. I would ring and speak nicely nicely see if I could persuade them into a credit note

ilovebrie8 · 23/03/2020 17:57

Wow 😮 you are off at a tangent and clearly don’t read what people actually write, I never said any such thing or commented on poverty etc. If £25 is the difference between having a roof over their head or not then the OP has bigger problems than missing out on a piercing! The big picture is they will have to suck up losing £25 which in the midst of everything else going is not a deal breaker...seriously read what people write and take your rant elsewhere as I made no comment about people having a roof over their heads. As others have said it’s unfortunate but people right now have way bigger problems ...

Why aren't people allowed to ask for advice about something unrelated to CV? She said she booked it ages ago and wanted advice about how to correct her mistake. Not a pile on about 'don't you have more important things to worry about?' Especially as a lot of people are in financial difficulties at the moment and £25 might be a welcome refund if she can ask MN for advice about how to get it back.

Eckhart · 23/03/2020 18:10

But this issue IS related to CV. Almost everything to do with life not working as normal is related to CV now.

No it's not. She wanted her piercing done but booked in at Glasgow instead of London.
The Glasgow branch are basically saying its not theirv problem booked the wrong salon.
Its got nothing to do with virus. It's just a mistake OP made.

Eckhart · 23/03/2020 18:24

@notacooldad I'd totally misunderstood the OP. I must be going a bit barmy with all this time at home!

pooopypants · 23/03/2020 18:55

OP just ask them to reschedule to a different location, they're keeping their money that way.

They may not if it is franchise. It's worth askng though.

I'd still make it a trip once we are back to normal. Something to look forward to.

One of mine has the same issue with some companies at the moment. Looked at her diary before anyone knew this was coming, booked and paid for a few things during her quiet times.

Most have given the option of a future booking. Some full refund. Some have said basically tough. Not had to suggest anything, offered something straight away. The ones not budging, they are quick to mention no refunds, they get bored repeating themselves and hang up. Call back, no refunds.

An appointment tomorrow doesn't matter if they show up or not, the place will be closed.

When the bookings were made, the money was there to pay for these things. Now, who knows when the next paycheque will be.

ffswhatnext · 24/03/2020 13:14

Oh and last year I did a Just-Eat booking. I did it accidentally for collection. Completely my fault and outside their delivery area.
Once I realised my mistake I contacted the restaurant to cancel the order.
After that, I told everyone in their area I knew what fantastic service I got. They went ahead with the delivery. And of course, rated them on Just-Eat. Small independent take-away. Fantastic customer service. It's bad customer experiences that close places down. Who knows, with flexibility, in several months time, op might want to visit Scotland.

And yea, ice and a sterile needle. If you have a low pain threshold you might need to have a drink. Plus, well the alcohol will help the insides haha.

middleager · 24/03/2020 13:17

If you have £25 to spare for this then you can afford to write it off.

Your post is everything that's wrong in the world right now.

damnthatanxiety · 24/03/2020 14:55

middleager so that anyone can spend £25 on a piercing or I take it, makeup or clothing or a meal out or going to the movies or anything unnecessary but nice is 'everything that is wrong in the world right now'? Is that what you are trying to suggest?

diddl · 24/03/2020 15:25

"If you have £25 to spare for this then you can afford to write it off."

How does that work then?

Because Op can afford to treat herself to the tune of £25, she can afford to just lose that £25?

Nope, not getting it.

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 24/03/2020 16:38

@scoobydoo1971 did you not read her reply that she booked a while in advance?

Maybe her financial situation was better at the time of the booking?
People are so mean really.
I funny understand why they can't rebook you to the correct studio at the very least op, can you check? If not, write them a review, it's quite bad customer service, any other business would happily change the reservation etc for another time/ place.

pollymere · 24/03/2020 17:41

Say that due to C19 you don't want to travel for the appointment and please could they give you a credit note/voucher so you can rebook when the Country is more settled. Surely they won't be open to honour your appointment anyway? If you are unable to have your appointment, you should be able to claim on your credit card for non delivery of services and it's worth reminding the company of that.

sunshine11 · 24/03/2020 18:11

If you paid by credit card and they now can’t deliver the service because of CV then under section 70 (or may be 75) your credit card company is legally obliged to refund you.

InTheSummerhouse · 24/03/2020 18:11

Surely the Glasgow/ London thing is irrelevant at the moment.
Ask them about their C-19 policy. They cannot be open - it is now illegal for them to open. Write to them and explain that since they are unable to honour you appointment could they issue a credit note to be spent at one of their salons once the lockdown is over.

N0tJustY0ga · 24/03/2020 18:16

I think the point is that she wants a refund & she’s not getting it. If it wasn’t a pandemic she would have received a refund.

Everyone is saying support everyone, but it’s companies like this, who are looking out for themselves. So why is it so wrong to look after yourself. Even if it is “only” £25, don’t think other people have the right to belittle someone else’s £25 as a little amount of money.

To those of you who feel it’s such a small amount of money you can afford to lose soooo easily. Then why don’t you pay the refund? I’m sure you’re probably using £25 to wipe your arse’s right now instead of toilet paper.

@refundmymoneynow You have a right to your money. Don’t listen to others jesting & making you wanting your nose pierced an issue. The company has to be at least seen to find an alternative if they cannot refund. Such as a credit note for when everything calms down.

Be safe & strong. Stand up for what you think is right, even if that means standing alone!
