Refusing to refund my money

refundmymoneynow · 23/03/2020 11:26

I've booked an appointment to have my nose pierced with a tattoo parlour, they have several studios in England. I've made the mistake and booked to have it done at their Glasgow studio when I'm in London, I've paid online and they're now refusing to refund the money. It was £25. I don't know what to do Sad

Write it off. You'll have more money in the end anyway because you're not paying to get from London to Glasgow.

LagunaBubbles · 23/03/2020 12:07

If you were still going to go for this appointment then I despair. What a stupid and selfish act to consider doing in this current situation.

refundmymoneynow · 23/03/2020 12:08

Like I said this was booked way in advance, I guess I'll just have to write it off 😔 lesson learned.

It was booked a while ago and especially at this point in time £25 to some people is very important. However a credit note would probably be the only option

pasturesgreen · 23/03/2020 12:09

Quite apart from any social distancing considerations, it was your mistake, not theirs. Just write it off.

dontgobaconmyheart · 23/03/2020 12:11

Always encouraging to see people being so kind online Hmm. telling people to f off etc, why? Surely there are better things to do with the morning.

It's disappointing OP, all you can do is ask them again or ask for the value as gift voucher to redeem in the future as a compromise perhaps? Presumably they hope to reopen.

I am not going to be crass and say it's 'only' £25 because to a lot of us, at the moment that is needed money but thank goodness it isn't a bigger amount OP, like lots of people are facing.

TheArchSorcererofContwaraburg · 23/03/2020 12:11

Suck it up.

SlipSlidin · 23/03/2020 12:11

Such a shame the late, great Jocky Wilson is no longer with us. He could have thrown it at your beak in a 180! style flourish.

Sorry op but it’s really hard to care.

Ninkanink · 23/03/2020 12:12

Flowers. It sucks, especially if that’s a good chunk of money for you.

otterturk · 23/03/2020 12:12

Given the current state of things, I really wouldn't worry about £25

WelcomeToTheAssEatery · 23/03/2020 12:14

Sorry OP but you're going to have a load of self righteous people on here telling you that you have no right to be miffed at losing £25 because there's a global pandemic.

However... it does suck. Unfortunately you made a mistake so they don't have to refund you, even though it would be good practice and good customer service to do so :(

Notwiththeseknees · 23/03/2020 12:15

A unicorn with a really long horn....
Javelin
24 cocktail sticks glued end-on-end

diddl · 23/03/2020 12:15

I would have thought that if they are all part of the same chain they could honour it at a place near to you tbh.

Obvs in the future!

"Given the current state of things, I really wouldn't worry about £25"

Oh yes, suddenly people can afford to lose money!

Sweatheart · 23/03/2020 12:19

I doubt it's open, try to get it cancelled on those grounds

Apirateslifeforme · 23/03/2020 12:21

I think you'll need to take it as a loss OP. Maybe best to try and frame it differently.
You haven't been had, you've decided that to not go is the safest thing for you and those around you.
You've also not made a massive thing out of the refund because the parlour will be closed for a while. It's unfortunate, but please dont be that person who's adding stress to someone for £25 when their livelihood is going down the pan.
Instead can you say, I know it's a tough time, can we reschedule for when you're back open after CV is no longer a public health issue.
That way no one loses out, and the business owner has s bot of a positive- customers coming in when they open up.

Apirateslifeforme · 23/03/2020 12:23

*a bit. I'm sorry I cannot type very accurately.

notacooldad · 23/03/2020 12:24

In your shoes I would reschedule for when the crisis is over and incorporate it with a couple of days break in and around Glasgow. Maybe even go over to Edinburgh as well.
However I'm always looking at chances to go to places!!

Deux · 23/03/2020 12:30

Are they actually a chain or are they individual franchises? If the latter then the Glasgow studio cannot transfer your booking to London?

myusernamewastakenbyme · 23/03/2020 12:42

If Op is struggling for money and £25 is a lot to her then she wouldn't have wasted it on a nose piercing to start with !!!

SunshineCake · 23/03/2020 12:46

While you may have booked it before the coronavirus pandemic are you really so immature that you think getting £25 back is your focus?

travellerist · 23/03/2020 12:52

Am I missing something here?

Surely tattoo parlours are non essential shops which will have to close shortly, and if your appointment is after that then you would be unable to attend because they're closed. Surely then they must offer a refund/exchange?

OP when is the appointment? Just call the bluff and say ok I'm going to attend now and wait for them to be inevitably closed by the government. Then they've failed to fulfil what you paid for and you'll get your money back?

slashlover · 23/03/2020 12:52

If you booked it a while ago then they may have turned down other business because of you.

GirlCalledJames · 23/03/2020 12:55

Could you try and sell it to someone in Glasgow (for use in the future)?
Are your credit card company any help?

ilovebrie8 · 23/03/2020 12:56

Totally agree with @SunshineCake this is utterly insignificant people are losing jobs and their lives and you are quibbling over £25...and asking on a public forum about something utterly trivial in the grand scheme of things...seriously you are immature or just plain stupid...bigger problems.. .maybe his is a wind up!

scoobydoo1971 · 23/03/2020 12:58

While it is foolish to buy any services that involve close body contact at this stage, if you made a payment online then you would be able to make a chargeback if you contact your bank.
