I’m glad supermarkets are cracking down on this, although feel sorry for the staff who have to enforce it.

I do wonder whether a glut of corner shops is going to spring up after this has passed, so people can sell off all their toilet rolls and hand sanitisers...

Soubriquet · 18/03/2020 20:27

sorry it was 18,000 bottles

Straycatstrut · 18/03/2020 20:27

I tried to buy two small packs of nappy pants, size 7 for my 3yo at night - (huge stacks of that size left as I expect most kids are out of them by that age) and one was confiscated at the til. I said fair enough.

I think he'll have had some taken off him.

AfterSchoolWorry · 18/03/2020 20:28

Why didn't you say something?

AlternativePerspective · 18/03/2020 20:28

@ Soubriquet was that the bloke who had 17000 bottles? Shock.

MamaDane · 18/03/2020 20:28

We have twins and use 3 tins in one week. 🙈

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/03/2020 20:29

Maybe he needed the last four?
You have no idea and you just stood there.
FFS think, and be more pro-active, your child will thank you for it.

Soubriquet · 18/03/2020 20:29

Yep!

I understand why they did it as really, that’s how people in the past have managed to make money.

But still..

5zeds · 18/03/2020 20:31

I have five children, 3 bottles of milk is not a lot here. He might be buying for a friend or about to be a 12 weaker.

Nannewnannew · 18/03/2020 20:31

I’ve heard that if you phone the number on the back of the packet/tin then the company will deliver you some with free delivery.

PennyNotSoWise · 18/03/2020 20:35

My brother was shopping yesterday, for the elderly members of our family who are high risk. Grandparents and a couple of aunts and uncles. A do gooder tried mouthing off at him in the shop assuming he was stockpiling, when he's actually helping vulnerable family.

You have no idea of peoples circumstances. And it's useless coming on Mumsnet writing a post to him. Did you say anything at the time?

Miraclelover · 18/03/2020 20:37

What did he say when you asked him for one?

nutmegbrew · 18/03/2020 20:38

I saw people buying multiples of the same product tonight in the shop, no rules enforced yet. Perhaps staff are wary of challenging people.

Sobeyondthehills · 18/03/2020 20:38

I’ve heard that if you phone the number on the back of the packet/tin then the company will deliver you some with free delivery.

This isn't true

Friendsofmine · 18/03/2020 20:39

Did you ask him for one?

I went to buy a bottle of something today and the lady next to me said why don't you take two love there are still a few there. I said because I only need one that's why we are struggling week to week!

Clearthinking · 18/03/2020 20:40

I have a cow and gate first milk if anyone needs it. Please don't sell on eBay for 300 quid I'm in Nottingham

chococo · 18/03/2020 20:42

How could he have taken all 4?? They've put limits on from over a week ago, formula is limited to 2 per person

SecretMillionaire · 18/03/2020 20:42

My grandson has cow and gate 1 milk which we have struggled to find in the shops. Superdrug will allow online orders for click and collect only.

theflushedzebra · 18/03/2020 20:44

That's awful OP. I'm trying to shop really carefully now, not taking the last of anything, that sort of thing. I guess people are scared though.

LHMBF · 18/03/2020 20:45

stuckinthemiddlewithtwats that's awful, we're also struggling to find formula, it's such a worrying time Sad Flowers

LINABE · 18/03/2020 20:45

Excuses makes up for it.

MargotsLine · 18/03/2020 20:47

In my local Asda this morning, they had opened scan and go 2 hours early and restricted all customers to 3 of any item.

@SinkGirl I don't know if this will help you but I make my own oat milk. It is massively cheaper than buying it. There are loads of recipes online. You will need a nut bag or clean tea towel to strain it if you don't want any bits.

We do 115g of oats, 2 pints of water whizzed up in a blender. You can soak the oats to get a slightly creamier consistency but then they need a slight rinse, nothing major though. Or juse leave the blended oats to thicken up for 10 minutes.

This makes about 1 litre. Store bought branded Oat milk is about £1.50 per litre, homemade 20p ish per litre. I make a week's worth which for us is 2 litres as it is only for Dh. Might be worth a try.

arietaparlane · 18/03/2020 20:48

We are not going to run out of fresh milk. The grass is longer than it has ever been thanks to the wet winter, which means the cows have never been better fed and are producing plenty of milk!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 18/03/2020 20:48

Like the gobshites selling 50p packs of paracetamol on ebay for £20. Absolute scum.
