Absolutely outrageous statement from DH

Advert for Kitkat came on. He says he's not sure he's ever eaten a four finger Kitkat. Two finger yeah, perfect for a post lunch sweet treat, but faced with the choice of any chocolate bar, he definitely wouldn't go for a Kitkat.

I initially thought this was outrageous, but now I think he might have a point.

And I can't find the voting button...

Is he BU??

I have 24 KitKat in the garage, for the dark days ahead...

vampirethriller · 17/03/2020 07:02

I love kitkats. The chunky ones are awful though, they smell like plastic.

Aglet · 17/03/2020 07:38

Not keen on chocolate these days but love kitkat because it has a tang I like, especially chunky.

MumW · 17/03/2020 07:44

Definitely a biscuit, like Penguins or Club, and not a chocolate bar.

Biddie191 · 17/03/2020 10:46

SlayingDragons I've not seen a dark chocolate Bounty in years! Can yo still get them?

BusterGonad · 17/03/2020 11:06

This is funny, I bought six 2 finger Kit Kats yesterday. I ate one yesterday and I've had one today. Nice little treat but if I'm having a proper chocolate bar my favorites are definitely something like a Topic, Peanut Butter Kit Kat, Reeses Peanut Butter Cup, Cadbury Caramel or a Frys Turkish Delight. I really love very sweet stuff. Oh I can't forget my ultimate treat for when I'm home alone, a magazine and a big bag of Cadbury Giant chocolate Buttons. Delightful.

@motherheroic

Obviously there have been times where we have purchased items we did not know were nstle owned. However, I can hand on heart say that I have not knowingly purchased a Nstle product or from a company owned by them. (this includes Loreal and their companies) for 10 years plus.

I regularly check what they own and who their companies are. we started out slow and just did the main brand then expanded.

However, instead of making a what appears like a snide comment (and if it was not intended snide then I apologise, however, that is how I read it) Then consider why some of us have chosen to take this action? It is a horrific company with very poor ethics, for example, their chair stating "water is not a human right" and consider where you place YOUR money. The biggest power we as consumers have is our choice to purchase or not purchase items. If we all say " actually no what you are doing is not ok. Then they would be forced to change their ways and we would create a better world for us all.

I have a 16-year-old who is against testing on animals she does her best to not purchase items tested on animals she takes it one further and does not purchase from brands where the parent company tests on animals. I am hugely proud of her choice to do what she feels is the right thing despite it meaning she has less than her friends as her choices mean spending more money on the smaller brands. She has never eaten a KitKat and doesn't feel she has lost out. I will here state that we have never told our children they may not have nstle products out of our home. Merely we boycott and our cash will not be spent on their products & I do not want them in my home. If I am gifted Nstle products I usually donate them to food banks.

I have 4 children (3 18+) 3 of them all boycott Nstle my son says he isn't fussed either way however due to not having known else wise he rarely purchase the products they own. I have never seen him buy a Nstle item his norm is items that are not by them.

I did use N*stle prior to joining the boycott and Kitkat was a chocolate bar I at times bought it is not one of the things I have ever missed. After Eights were the biggest thing I missed. I have thankfully discovered M&S mint sticks and they are wonderful and cheaper. Condensed milk has been hard to source thankfully not something you need a lot (and bigger Waitrose shops have their own brand).

Most people who make the choice to boycott do so with the intention of doing their bit to make the world a better place. I think that is a positive step and one we should all encourage. If you are interested then the babymilkaction website is a good source of information about the N*stle boycott

KitKats? A pox on the pathetic faux biccies.

Now - Tunnocks choccy covered wafers are the real deal.

SlayingDragons · 17/03/2020 21:11

@Biddie191 - my local Sainsburys often have them in the individual snack section. They are also found in random wee newsagents. When I find them I buy lots several

Thankssomuch · 17/03/2020 21:20

Well, it’s crunch time for the marriage.

Biddie191 · 18/03/2020 10:14

SlayingDragons - thanks - when I can face the chaos of supermarkets, I will hunt them down :-)

PickleSarnie · 18/03/2020 10:18

Kit Kats are

(a) Disgusting - and I say that as someone who would generally hoover up most chocolate
(b) Now made by Nestle who are evil shitbags

ScreamingLadySutch · 18/03/2020 12:39

The old Kit Kats by Wilson Rowntree were heaven.

I will not buy anything from Nestle or Mondelez. No sirree.

Lindt or Lidl chocolate for me now

Deathraystare · 18/03/2020 15:57

I loathe Kit Kat. About the only chcolate I would never eat (oh and any American chocolate yeuch!).

Doobigetta · 18/03/2020 15:59

KitKats are fake chocolate for people who disapprove of enjoyment but want to look as though they’re joining in. They’re like a methodist church poster for “the most fun you’ve ever had!!!!” that turns out to be advertising a family bingo evening with no prizes.
