AIBU to say that this meal is *not* a gravy meal

Made shepherd’s pie this evening. Was serving it (with green beans in butter) and DH said “I’ll just make myself some gravy”

AIBU to think that made-from-scratch shepherd’s pie, with its built-in gravy, does not require added bistro? Is this my LTB moment or is that ketchup?

How dry are people making their shepherds/cottage pie for it to need extra gravy?

My dh puts gravy on most things and if not chili sauce

Shepard's pie and cottage pie to me arent even pies, a pie has pastry.

Definitely gravy! and therefore leave out the butter from the veg.

Where are you from? Not the gravy belt I’d wager. The gravy belt runs across this island with Scotland to the north and Bristol/the wash to the south. It’s a land where we put gravy on chips

I love it with salad and salad cream. Can't stand gravy I have tomato sauce on a Sunday dinner.

No definitely no extra gravy because you must only ever have baked beans with it!!!

I like proper gravy but I don’t count bistro as gravy. It’s just rank chemicals and additives and stuff.

Well I wouldn't us bisto but I always make extra gravy when I'm cooking the filling then use it to pour over. Shepherd's pie requires extra gravy.

Anyone can have whatever sauce or condiment they like on their own meal. And that includes gravy (though personally would choose brown sauce).
Never ok to police what others want to add to their own food.

There are several things that need clarifying here:

Bisto is not gravy.
Shepherds Pie does not require gravy.
Shepherds Pie must contain ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Don't take my word for it, ask Hugh F-W.

Gravy is not something that can be made by adding hot water to some granulated brown chemicals (any more than coffee) 🤮

My husband is from Lancashire, for him, meals start with gravy.

I once asked him if he wanted peas, carrots or broccoli with his dinner and he said 'Gravy, please.'

Gravy is a vegetable apparently!

I can't cook for people who pour hot sauce, gravy or ketchup over food I have lovingly prepared from scratch. LTB.

No need for gravy and definitely no need for Bisto anywhere ever!
