My friend has gone mad right?

A friend of mine has recently got engaged. She is VERY excited. All good, this is lovely. She has a very large solitaire ring which is beautiful. She was showing me today over coffee and I oohed and aahed with appropriate gushiness.

She then said “I know, it’s SO lovely! I wouldn’t like rings like yours. Your wedding ring is so overshadowed by your engagement ring and your wedding ring would be so much better if it was a bit wider as it just looks like you’re engaged. I’m so lucky that I got to go and choose my engagement ring because I really wanted something to my taste and I’d have had to pretend a bit if I got yours”

She’s mental to voice this, to care and to give any thought to my rings, right? 😂

I’ll post a picture of my very ordinary and not worthy of remark rings (I love them, I just say ordinary as think they’re pretty normal and not remark worthy as I know whenever I read a post where someone describes things I’m nosy about what it looks like. Also not offended by anyone else’s opinion on my rings if they can even be bothered to have one!).

I think they are beautiful! She should see mine!! I have a small engagement ring that i absolute love and never take off! A lot smaller than yours... and it's just as perfect as i ever imagined! Because i did mention to my now husband to never think about a massive solitaire as i don't like big rings!
And my wedding one... she would say i bought it in poundland hahah
Omg people are just there for the showoff! I'm sure she is not even excited about the engagement 🙄

Adviceplease1234 · 11/03/2020 18:41

Your rings are beautiful!

What is it with engagements/weddings making people behave so strangely?!

Mittens030869 · 11/03/2020 18:43

Sadly, I can't take a pic of my engagement ring, because the diamond fell out. I only noticed it whilst waiting for my DDs to come out of school at pick up time. So there was no way of finding it. I was gutted. We are planning to replace it but we haven't done it as yet. Sad

Sissymate2 · 11/03/2020 18:43

@CathyTre
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just love your sense of humour....Seems like you are good at finding the humour in her rudeness instead of being offended! oh please be her matron of honour! Then you can give us an account of the hilarity of the whole bridezilla thing.
She was just so blatantly rude I couldn't help but laugh because she didn't even know it. Seems like your take on things, too. Keep those hilarious posts coming🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Btw, you haven't lived until your baby has a poonami and that big beautiful ring set gets poo down behind the ring settings!

Folicky · 11/03/2020 18:47

Not a time or topic for point scoring. She seems tactless at best, or a bit arrogant 'I'm gonna say whatever I please and I don't care how that makes other people feel'. Pride comets ...,,

Sissymate2 · 11/03/2020 18:47

@Mittens030869
I am so sad for you! Don't give up though....think back...maybe you caught your ring on a piece of clothing or something and didn't think at the time that the stone could have fallen out. Ask St. ANTHONY to help you find it....unless of course you are ready for an upgrade....and after you do get the new stone, I can almost guarantee the old one will pop upGrin

Caelan2018 · 11/03/2020 18:48

Omg just cos she is engaged now she is been horrible your rings are lovely and suit your finger just like we all have different taste I bet you wouldn't want to marry her fiance ha ha

247SylviaPlath · 11/03/2020 18:49

Wow... I’d be hopeful she just hadn’t thought before she opened her mouth and now feels bad about it, it’s astonishingly rude.

Gorgeous rings OP btw - I love seeing everyone’s different rings there’s always something lovely about them.

Minxmumma · 11/03/2020 18:54

That's really incredibly rude of her. Let's hope it is just over excited silliness.

I don't have an engagement ring and my wedding ring is cheap, cheerful oh and black titanium. Neither of us are bothered, what mattered more was the significance of having survived serious illness to get married

Sissymate2 · 11/03/2020 18:54

@CathyTre....you've inspired me to go find all my 'lovely' rings so I can post photos for critiques. I don't like wearing rings because I'm usually working in the garden and don't go to any posh dos where they would be appropriate...my mum on the other hands, adores all rings and has them on practically every finger...and I have the scars to prove it because she keeps accidentally scratching me with them or knocking me on the head...she wears a aquamarine the size of a walnut on her right index finger. It would drive me nuts!

Jeeperscreepers69 · 11/03/2020 18:55

Your rings are exactly what id pick. Lovely. Your friend is not nice. Be a bridesmaid and totally outshine her or dye your hair pillar box red 2 days before wedding🤣

Kayagh · 11/03/2020 19:09

My engagement ring tops my wedding band and the two can’t be separated they were handmade and cost in excess of well a small fortune I recently sent my engagement ring in for a repair and my wedding band looked so lost. I always thought this was the normal engagement ring needs to worn alone for a while so why have something that can get lost. What a horrible thing for someone to say to you op. I personally can’t stand my sil ring it’s horrid but I’d never ever dream of saying that to her but it does look like it came from a Christmas cracker.

Good luck to that marriage...how long shall we give it? What a ghastly woman!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 11/03/2020 19:12

Absolutely beautiful rings on here.

So many different styles, and all lovely (even the Ruby of Hideousness is gorgeous - I'd wear it!)

CathyTre · 11/03/2020 19:17

I do sometimes wear the ruby of hideousness aka spot ring as I find its ridiculousness amusing.

Your rings are lovely. And is she really a friend?

CardsforKittens · 11/03/2020 19:20

I love your rings OP. But then I would say that: they’re almost identical to my own rings.

angelfacecuti75 · 11/03/2020 19:22

Why is saying it's not to her taste rude ? I'd have said something like "well it's not to your taste but I love it" and thought no more of it. It's just a different opinion , said as she sees it?

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 11/03/2020 19:26

Loving all the photos of rings. Here are mine. Not to everyone's tastes, I'm sure, but who cares.

She can think what she likes, no big deal, but it was a bit bloody much to go on about it. Though someone "insulted" my bike the other day and I wanted to push them into the road! Grin

Whenever I find myself on the receiving end of some person spouting shit like that, I just say “the world would be a boring place if we were all the same” and then walk away.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 11/03/2020 19:30

“the world would be a boring place if we were all the same

Right? I will never understand people who expect everyone to do and wear the EXACT same thing as them. Variety is INTERESTING, its wonderful to see how different people express themselves in clothes or jewellery etc, its an expression of their character.

I cant imagine a more tedious or bland life where everyone has the exact same style ring and dresses the same- what kind of uninspiring generic world would that be??

Hanywany · 11/03/2020 19:37

I absolutely love the ruby spot ring its gorgeous nothing wrong with thatand your other rings are lovely too! But each to their own heres mine engagement ring first and wedding band afterGrin

Localocal · 11/03/2020 19:39

Your rings are lovely. She has obviously gone full bridezilla from the starting gate, so stand well back until 6 months after the wedding...

roxanne119 · 11/03/2020 19:46

Run !

ToftyAC · 11/03/2020 19:47

Incredibly tactless and pretty rude your friend is.
