Loo rolls

How many loo rolls does a family use a week?
I’ve just had a discussion with a family member who gets through more than 1 a day. I thought that was totally over the top.
For comparison, we use around 2 a week, including visitors which we get most days.

I tend to buy loo rolls when we need them ie a 9 pack a month but how many should we try to keep as ‘backup’ stock so we don’t run out? That is, if there are any in the supermarkets!!

8-9 a week.

itbemay1 · 09/03/2020 22:10

1 roll a day family of 4

Mum2jenny · 09/03/2020 22:10

6 rolls would probably work for me unless we get too many visitors.

DH thinks we go through a roll each day, but God knows how he works that one out! We usually buy a big pack with about 20 rolls and I'm sure it lasts us about 6 weeks.
3 bums in our house.

Mum2jenny · 09/03/2020 22:11

That’s per month - 6 rolls

5 or so a week but depends a lot on who is around as the residents and guests are very fluid in numbers these days (adult kids!)

ColaFreezePop · 09/03/2020 22:12

Isn't this a how long is a piece of string question?

Some people poo once a day, some poo twice a day while some poo more than that. Other people poo once every two days and some people poo less than that.

Just buy the amount you normally go through or stock up with. The stock issues where due to people buying a few more and the supermarkets not being allowed to have deliveries as they needed. They are now allowed to have deliveries any time they like.

SnugglySnerd · 09/03/2020 22:13

About 9 a week. There are 5 of us including toilet-training twins do we sre getting through a particularly large amount at present due to wiping out potties as well as wiping bumps.

Heismyopendoor · 09/03/2020 22:13

At least a roll a day. There are five of us and me and the kids are at home as they are home educated. I don’t think that’s a bad amount from us.

RhymingRabbit3 · 09/03/2020 22:13

I have no idea, I dont keep track I just buy more when we are running low!

spongejack · 09/03/2020 22:14

What a ridiculous question...... how many people, how many at home during the day, how many work full time, how many work away, how long is a toilet roll.

I only use two rolls a week, I work full time and often stay over at my mums during the week, my friend and her husband are SAHP and one works from home, have fifteen children and use 10 a week, can you believe how different we are? 🙄

HollysBush · 09/03/2020 22:15

When there were four of us it was 2-3 rolls a week

TweetUsOnFacebook · 09/03/2020 22:15

We use the Kirkland ones from Costco. I think they are a bit larger/thicker than a lot of normal loo rolls so we use about 4 a week for a family of 4.

I wish I'd stocked up as we are down to 2 packs and I've heard Costco is selling out fast even though they are rationing 1 pack per person.

ClubfootMaestro · 09/03/2020 22:16

Similar to you OP! My daughter is in nappies so doesn’t use any so maybe 9 or so a month between me and DH.

It depends how much you need the loo Of course which isn’t something anyone can help. What does annoy me is when people wipe as standard using about 5 sheets at once which is fucking unforgivable from an environmental point of view (usual disclaimer about genuine medical reasons). I have a friend who would pull off about a third of a roll just to blow her nose into.

Mum2jenny · 09/03/2020 22:16

Ok, it is better to ask the number of toilet rolls per person per week as a typical usage rate?

OP posts:
Mum2jenny · 09/03/2020 22:18

If it helps (probably too much info), I use 2/3 sheets max per wipe, only 1 for a wee tho

I get mine from amazon subscribe and save. Last bought in August, 72 rolls. Still have 15 rolls left I the cupboard plus whatever is left next to three toilets, so 57 used in 6 months.

Was due a batch in March but delayed a month as we still have plenty.

2 adults, 1 5 year old and 1 not yet potty trained.

thegreylady · 09/03/2020 22:19

2 of us use one roll a week unless someone is ill.

Goldwispa · 09/03/2020 22:20

9 a week for four of us

HunterHearstHelmsley · 09/03/2020 22:22

Three in our household. We probably use a nine pack a week

I saw a post a few days ago that some had twenty four rolls and it would last until the end of the year. Figured they must ration.

SidsWife · 09/03/2020 22:23

4 of us, 2 a week. 1 a day is ridiculous.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/03/2020 22:23

Just two adults, and we tend to get two 12 packs a month. We never run down to zero though. I have IBS, plus hardly drink during the day (teaching) and make up for it with 90,000 cups of tea in the evening/marching wees.

Bringmewineandcake · 09/03/2020 22:24

I reckon we average 1 a week, maybe a little less. There's a minimum of 2 people here 6 days a week.
I'll treat myself to more than 1 sheet for a wee though, Mum2jenny Grin

Milo2 · 09/03/2020 22:25

14 a week. There’s two of us and a baby.

Mum2jenny · 09/03/2020 22:26

I’m amazed at how much loo roll some ppl are using.

Maybe it depends on the loo roll and I do know some loo rolls have more sheets per roll than others.
