What 3 days would you pick to work part time?

I'm leaning towards Mon, Tue & Wed, as it would be nice to keep the weekend long.

But would it be better to break it up, have a day off midweek?

What pattern do you do if you are part time?

I have worked Mon, Tues, Thurs for the last few years and really liked that. I am autistic so having a day with some down time and less social pressure in the middle of the week plus a 3 day weekend has been ideal. I am starting a new job next week and will be doing Mon, Thurs, Fri. Hopefully it will also work ok!

PeridotPassion · 06/03/2020 17:54

I work Mon, Tue and Friday.

I love it. I get in on Monday and spend two ‘proper’ days working hard. Then Wed and Thursday off to recover 😊

Then back in on Friday - but it’s much more chilled out. Everyone has the Friday feeling, people are happy, no business dress and lower expectations all round 😂

Then the weekend 🎉🎉

I used to do Tuesday to Thursday which I loved. I also did Monday to Wednesday which was good. Now I do Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday which is horrible.

Bluewavescrashing · 06/03/2020 17:56

I do Mon Tues and occasionally an extra day if needed Wed Thurs or Fri.

I like working on Fridays as everyone is in a good mood!

My days at home not working are spent dropping the DCs to school and collecting them, cleaning, running errands, laundry, watching netflix and napping. I occasionally meet a friend for coffee.

notquiteruralbliss · 06/03/2020 17:57

I would work Mon / Wed / Fri

duckfacetwo · 06/03/2020 18:02

I like doing M-W because I find on Mondays everyone is really productive & I feel more efficient when I'm in work consistently. I don't need to use holiday for bank holidays though. Don't think I will ever work Fridays again, it's always the day other people have off or there are school events.

Oscarsdaddy · 06/03/2020 18:03

Work Tuesday Wednesday Thursday so you get a lovely long weekend every weekend

sunshinesky · 06/03/2020 18:03

Tuesday - Thursday. I used to do this and loved it.

Jack80 · 06/03/2020 18:04

I would work Tue-Thu.

pollymere · 06/03/2020 18:06

I'd work Tuesday to Thursday based on traffic. Although actually Monday, Wednesday and Friday appeals to me.

Scapegoatforlife · 06/03/2020 18:13

It astounds me people are having to use annual leave for bank holidays???

ChristmasFluff · 06/03/2020 18:17

I used to work 3 days - did either Mon/Wed/Thurs or Mon/Tue/Thurs. It wasn't my choice. I really enjoyed both.

20viona · 06/03/2020 18:19

I'm going back monday Tuesday Wednesday I think it will work well I always had Fridays off so I knew I wanted to keep that.

dementedpixie · 06/03/2020 18:22

Bank holidays are normally included in your annual leave hours e.g. 28 days holiday is made up of 20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays. When you are off on a bank holiday a day comes off your entitlement

Saranvenya · 06/03/2020 18:23

I do 37 hours over 3 days, Tuesday - Thursday term time, for me its perfect.
I do pick up emails and a few calls on my days off but that is my choice.
Uni holidays I work Wednesday-Thursday 12 hours and I love that as I can catch up with everything.

Mumof2bears · 06/03/2020 18:24

I work Tuesday - Thursday. Long weekends and Mondays and Fridays are the days I run errands whilst the kids are in school (fitted around a nice mid-morning coffee stop in town Smile).

Tues, Weds and Thurs

If you are not entitled to all of the BH’s you have too

Pro rata I was entitled to 3 hours leave per bank holiday. However, I worked a 5 hour day on a Monday. So, to have the whole day off I had to use 2 hours annual leave

It worked the other way on a Friday holiday. I was entitled to 3 hours credit, but as I didn’t work a Friday anyway I gained 3 hours.

As there are more Monday holidays than Fridays I did need to use some annual leave over the year. It’s why I switched the Monday to a different day ASAP.

cologne4711 · 06/03/2020 18:32

Not RTFT but would pick Friday as a working day if you have to travel, as there is room on the trains and in the car park!

I work Mon to Wed but with flexibility eg in two weeks will be doing Tues to Thurs.

It's worth not working Mondays to avoid being hammered for bank holidays.

It has always astounded me too. But it's the way things work. When ds was small and I worked 4 days a week I didn't get hammered for bank holidays but the law has changed since then. It doesn't matter for me now because I can just flex my days around them.

minipie · 06/03/2020 18:35

I’d pick Mon, Tues/Wed, Thur. Fridays are nice to have off as that’s when school events, parent coffees etc often are (for me anyway).

I wouldn’t want 3 days in a row as there would be too much of a gap and lots to catch up on/get ahead either side of the gap.

ItsJustASimpleLine · 06/03/2020 18:37

You get stung with bank holidays if you do mondays. I have no choice and wish I could change it

Cockadoodledooo · 06/03/2020 18:56

I usually work 4 weekdays (and every other weekend) but had to cut to 3 for health reasons last year. I have Mondays off and was given Thursday (no choice) as my other. I had thought I'd prefer the 2 days together but it actually worked really well for me, not having to work more than 3 days in a row. Plus a 3 day weekend every other week Grin

DustyMaiden · 06/03/2020 19:02

When I did work they called Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday staff TWATS

CottonSock · 06/03/2020 19:04

I do Tues to thurs. Mainly due to bank holiday being chargeable in my dd nursery.
