To pay £325 pounds for a basket bag?

Hey everyone, I came across this Loewe bag a few months ago and i feel like i'm really into it, however not sure whether it's worth buying it for this amount of money (I mean it's just a basket bag). What do you think of it and would you get it?

The story behind that bag will be that the person who made it got pennies and the company marketing have made a tidy profit. If you want a story, I would look at Fair Trade bags.

Someone made palm leaf bags for pennies some of which were sold for a tenner in a market and some of which had a bit of leather added by Loewe as well as an obscene mark up. The End.

Meh - buy it if you like. You are paying for the label though - don't kid yourself that it cost any more than £10 to make. IF having a fairly shit bag with a good label will bring you joy - and you can afford it - buy it.

You asked for opinions and you got them. The bag probably made well but it's a straw bag any which way you dress it up and for that reason it's hugely overpriced. It's also been all over Instagram for a year....

The bags @Noflora linked to are really pretty, and DO have a story - so again, don't kid yourself it's the story you are after either.

You want a designer bag so buy a designer bag.

In all honesty, if you can afford it, then you should spend your money on what brings you joy. It wouldn't bring me joy, but that is not the question you ought to be asking yourself. If bills are paid and your family wont go without, buy the bag.

If you like it and can afford it and are aware that it won’t last long because it’s (a) a basket and (b) going to go out of fashion - then get it.

I love basket bags. Sadly, so does our smallest cat, who enjoys pissing in them if he can. They are now banned from the house.

I wanted one last year. I love Loewe! I ended up getting something very similar on amazon for very cheap and I'm glad I did because turns out I hate basket bags, I find them very annoying to carry and the basket is very scratchy on bare arms/legs. Some things are best left on Instagram!

I love a bag and spend good money designer bags when they are beautifully crafted and to me look either unique and special, or a timeless classic.

This is neither and no way would I buy it.

Loewe is a great brand and has a real emphasis on craftsmanship (all of its items are made in Spain). I work in fashion and have seen these on colleagues, it's a great bag.

If you can afford it, buy it.

I think the story behind it is that some people think because it’s expensive and ‘hand made ‘ that there’s a story behind it. Little do they know It was probably made in the same sweat shop as the primark bag for a fiver.

As a complete bag addict, I wouldn’t blanch at £325 for a bag, I have several that have cost me (a lot) more. But I really object to not getting value for money. That’s a cheap bag with an expensive label and might, if you’re lucky, last the summer.

Never. If you go to a seaside shop you'll get something very similar for a fraction of the price.

OP, just buy the bag! It's not going to go out of fashion, baskets are always in style.

I'd much rather buy this than some mass produced rubbish from Primark that stinks of cheap glue and pleather. Loewe is beautifully made (I still have some of my mum's Loewe things from the 70s and 80s), and if anything does happen to the bag, it will be sent back to Loewe and either repaired or replaced. Matches have got an offer on at the moment of £100 off £300, but unfortunately they don't have this style.
