Hey everyone, I came across this Loewe bag a few months ago and i feel like i'm really into it, however not sure whether it's worth buying it for this amount of money (I mean it's just a basket bag). What do you think of it and would you get it?
this is the bag www.mytheresa.com/en-gb/loewe-medium-leather-trimmed-basket-tote-1465320.html?catref=category
thanks x

It's a straw bag and an ugly one at that. No way is that worth £325, but if you like it well it's your money. I'm just Confused at the appeal.

I really like this one. It is a fair trade product, as is the link above. woolery.com/african-fair-trade-basket-tote.html

Nekoness · 05/03/2020 07:53

The bag @QuiteForgetful linked to literally comes with “a story” you wanted Razafindrabe Collections (the Madagascar company that makes them).

Though I suspect like all designer handbags, it’s really the label you care about.

Ethelfleda · 05/03/2020 07:54

I think it’s mediocre at best and way overpriced.
And once the original dopamine hit of buying it wears off, it’ll lose its novelty.

OneOfTheGrundys · 05/03/2020 07:58

No. At that price I’d want an investment. A real doer and an old friend bag. That’s not it.
The price is not inconsiderable even for rich people.

OneOfTheGrundys · 05/03/2020 07:59

It won’t get better with age. It’ll just look shite.

LegArmpits · 05/03/2020 08:00

A story Grin Grin

hellosunnydayz · 05/03/2020 08:13

I bet if you saw the exact same bag in Primark you wouldn't like or want it. Snobbery

Roussette · 05/03/2020 08:14

Yes, there's a story.

The story is... it costs £10 to make and is sold for £325

My Bff's Grand Princess cruise was cancelled at 05:30 am. The San Fran to Hawaii one.

LEELULUMPKIN · 05/03/2020 09:21

Sorry, wrong bloody thread!

drina27 · 05/03/2020 09:27

It’s a basket. Erm...it’s going to fray and disintegrate in the same way as any other basket.

Delusional much?

pooopypants · 05/03/2020 09:36

Primark aside, it's fugly OP. But crack on, because you obviously don't like being being YABU.

And yes, YABU. It's vile and far too overpriced.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 05/03/2020 09:39

That bag is hideous...£325 are you having a laugh???

furrytoebean · 05/03/2020 09:52

If you can afford it and you like it then crack on but to me it looks like something my Aunty Pam would wear to carry her fags and take a break magazine to the beach in Gran Canaria

PathOfLeastResitance · 05/03/2020 09:53

For that money I would google ‘straw bag making class + my area’ and make my own.

BearBearBearBear · 05/03/2020 11:00

I really like it too OP, but think I prefer the brown.

KarmaStar · 05/03/2020 11:28

Well if you're happy a calf was killed for you to carry a part of his skin around on your shoulder go ahead.

MumofTinies · 05/03/2020 11:32

Maybe it looks nicer in person but it looks a little scruffy on the pictures. Definately not worth the money even if you can afford it.

Alsohuman · 05/03/2020 11:32

Oh dear, there’s always one. The leather is a by product of an animal slaughtered for meat.

Dita73 · 05/03/2020 11:34

Definitely buy it if you really like it. Treat yourself

BrokenMumTeenDD · 05/03/2020 11:45

Sorry, but that is a classic example of more money than sense.

It's not even a particularly nice bag, not well designed at all, so I'd query how well it's made too. If you pay £325 for that, they saw you coming.

ethelredonagoodday · 05/03/2020 12:01

I wouldn't pay £325 for any bag; leather, basket or otherwise. I honestly don't get how many seemingly sane people are willing to pay £££ for something, on the basis that it is supposedly handmade or higher end/from a reputable brand - I'll bet my last pound that most of these items are still made in factories with poor conditions. I think most 'hand made' items being sold in fairly large quantities are probably actually 'hand finished' and still mass produced. I could be wrong, but that's what I think. And if you are looking for a 'story' I'd suggest buying second hand or vintage. Much more interesting.

Marahute · 07/03/2020 03:44

I think you might like this one OP. Very similar and more secure with a zip closure. Much more reasonable price too!
