Hey everyone, I came across this Loewe bag a few months ago and i feel like i'm really into it, however not sure whether it's worth buying it for this amount of money (I mean it's just a basket bag). What do you think of it and would you get it?
this is the bag www.mytheresa.com/en-gb/loewe-medium-leather-trimmed-basket-tote-1465320.html?catref=category
thanks x

Wide open at the top with no zip - that bag looks like a pickpocket’s dream!

supersop60 · 16/03/2020 17:28

It's all relative. £325 is half our mortgage.

grannieali · 16/03/2020 17:35

Readers are pulling their punches. You are bonkers. Hhow can you be "into" any sort of shopping bag at this price? If not bonkers then part of a tiny minority which can afford it. Why not donate about £310 to help those less fortunate?. I don't care for the Fair trade shoppers either. They are not cheap, but perhaps last a long time.

Vinylsamso · 16/03/2020 17:43

If it came with absolutely no label on it, would you still buy it? Probably not. But if you’re a millionaire I suppose it’s all relative 🤷🏻‍♀️

Palavah · 16/03/2020 17:48

It's not practical. It's not stunning. The story will be someone on minimum wage at best, probably in a developing country.

Can you think of nothing more worthwhile to do with 325? Or at least £275?

flyingspaghettimonster · 16/03/2020 18:12

That is a seriously fugly bag.

nopuppiesallowed · 16/03/2020 18:41

Are you kidding? It's a basket for goodness sake! Why not send the money to the nearest women's refuge?

Aglet · 17/03/2020 07:39

It is very ugly.

paininthepoinsettia · 17/03/2020 08:07

There is no story behind a Primark bag

I'm quite sure the child person who had to hand weave it would have a story to tell.

NorthernBirdAtHeart · 17/03/2020 10:36

It’s horrible. Your money, your choice.

CaptainCabinets · 17/03/2020 10:49
  1. It’s fuck ugly
  2. YABU for using both the symbol £ and the word pounds
Desperateforadviceplease · 17/03/2020 11:51

If it is handmade and ypu can afford it why not.
Hand weaving is bloody difficult.

fussychica · 17/03/2020 14:27

Seriously? You must be mad. 10 EUROS on a Spanish market where stuff like that is common. Its made from palm leaves, a likely waste product.
I'm always amazed by the way people are taken in by companies charging silly money for things just because of the label, most are still made in China or the third world by people earning pennies and are often no better quality than you'd find on the high street.

morriseysquif · 17/03/2020 14:29

Is this a joke! 😆😆😁😁

morriseysquif · 17/03/2020 14:36

Here you go OP, this is up your street, these bags tell a story!

Charles Darwin's and Queen Victoria's letters cut up to make into handbags

UsernameUnknownn · 17/03/2020 14:40

No offence to me that doesn't look like a £325 bag. Looks more like a £15 bag from primark.

Girlattheback · 17/03/2020 15:15

The Loewe bag you’re looking at was one of the ‘it’ bags last summer. I would steer clear of it for that reason.

mauvaisereputation · 17/03/2020 15:41

i know, but i feel like there is a story behind this bag (it's hand made) while there is no story behind Primark things and everyone wears them

You do realise that ALL clothes and bags are handmade, right? We aren't 3d printing them afaik. I also don't think Primark has a special machine where you press a button and put in some straw and a basket comes out. You would think that Primark's clothes and indeed baskets can't be handmade because they're so cheap, but no, they're cheap because they pay the people making them next to nothing.

I wouldn't shop at Primark for this reason, but I also wouldn't pay £300 for a basket. Lots of nice bags come up if you google Moroccan basket bag.

NoMoreDickheads · 17/03/2020 19:31

PP's are right, you could get something that looks very similar for £15 or something. But upto you what you spend your money on.

BurtonHouse · 17/03/2020 20:23

It looks like something you'd buy on a market somewhere in the Med.
And be aware, these can cause snagging of your clothes. I once ruined the trousers of a perfectly good suit because it kept catching.

FullOfCake · 17/03/2020 20:34

Good god no

Durgasarrow · 18/03/2020 12:59

At first I thought "Why not, you only live once," but when I saw the picture I thought, oh hell no. That is a ridiculous price for a straw bag.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 18/03/2020 15:00

A story behind it Grin
Sorry but you remind me of Phoebe and her "apothecary table of yore!" lol Grin
Seriously though, that's a hell of a lot of money for what looks like a straw bag (not liking that patch thing on the front, looks weird.)
It's up to you though, if you have the money and like it why feel you need to justify to a bunch of randomers and their opinions?
If you like it and can afford it, go for it.
