Hey everyone, I came across this Loewe bag a few months ago and i feel like i'm really into it, however not sure whether it's worth buying it for this amount of money (I mean it's just a basket bag). What do you think of it and would you get it?
this is the bag www.mytheresa.com/en-gb/loewe-medium-leather-trimmed-basket-tote-1465320.html?catref=category
thanks x

(Obvs is not this brand though.. it’s straw with leather handles and a piece of leather on the front)

TheOrigBrave · 04/03/2020 13:58

Get a similar bag for less than 1/10 of the price and then read lots of books. You get a bag and lots of stories. You can probably find lots of stories about bags.

notacooldad · 04/03/2020 13:58

@HollowTalk no, who is Theresa?
Enough now OP! You've had your fun!

HollowTalk · 04/03/2020 13:58

The brand is called MyTheresa, OP.

Madwithjealousy · 04/03/2020 13:58

Don't like the white square - why ? Plus it's trimmed with dead baby animals, yuk

datasgingercatspot · 04/03/2020 13:59

If I won the Euromillions I wouldn't pay that much for that bag. It's a fucking basket. Go to Oxfam, buy a fairtrade one. We have loads of basket makers right here in the UK who produced lovely bags for far less.

BrowncoatWaffles · 04/03/2020 13:59

I had one of these from River Island when I was at Sixth Form...!

mrsrhodgilbert · 04/03/2020 14:00

It was all over Instagram last summer, this summer there will probably be a different popular bag. How will you feel about that?

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 04/03/2020 14:01

No my Theresa is the website, Loewe is the brand.

I’m not keen on it personally - I have a gorgeous Ralph Lauren beach bag that was about £160 - have you looked at Ralph Lauren? The fact your dithering about it suggests money isn’t no object so I would wait until you see something you really, really love.

wesdxc12 · 04/03/2020 14:01

No! Total rip off. It is a straw bag. It isn't even a nice straw bag. Surely OP is a wind up?

Isthistrueor · 04/03/2020 14:02

Madness. Much cheaper ones in Joules and M&S.

SonjaMorgan · 04/03/2020 14:03

This is a new one but loads of even nicer vintage ones on Etsy.

EmmaJR1 · 04/03/2020 14:04

For £325 you could go on a weaving course and make your own bag! Then there really would be a story behind it AND you would know what it was!

mrsBtheparker · 04/03/2020 14:04

Looks like the basket I bought in Morocco for a couple of £, that I now use to transport washing up and down stairs, with a bit of leather added. Have you looked on the market?

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 04/03/2020 14:05

I was expecting something special, the link gave me a basket like my granny use to have!

I don’t mind spending £££ on a bag but that’s just a granny basket....

DarlingCoffee · 04/03/2020 14:05

There are better Loewe bags out there...

comesavemenow · 04/03/2020 14:05

it's handmade? How much do you think the person who weaved it got? Fashion products have a 200% market when it comes to brand names and it definitely doesn't go to the person who handmade it.

This also shows people have really different tastes when it comes to fashion. I personally find it hideous but it's not for me. You like it then you should get it.

CaMePlaitPas · 04/03/2020 14:06

It's a bit frumpalicious OP. If you're using it for the beach or the market i'd get something cheaper.

DoraDont · 04/03/2020 14:07

Batshit. It's a frigging beach bag. Go to any market in Europe and buy one for less than £20. It's not even a particularly nice bag.

Nancydrawn · 04/03/2020 14:07

It's not the cost, it's that it is a very ugly bag.

damnthatanxiety · 04/03/2020 14:08

I like it OP. Everyone saying you could buy something similar for £10 are I assume driving around in a shitty car, wearing ugly shoes and eating processed foods, because...they are so similar to the nice versions.Hmm.
If you can easily afford it then do what you want. Me? I can't understand why people pay whatever they pay for cigarettes or golf membership or a season ticket but I'm not going to come on here and slate them. You can afford it...do what you want.

HeyLala · 04/03/2020 14:09

The bag is lovely and I thought about buying one 2 years ago. I spend a lot of time in Spain and love Loewe bags.

BUT all the Instagrammers got gifted this bag last year and they were everywhere.

Total turn off for me.

LouLouLoo · 04/03/2020 14:09

It’s not my sort of bag but if you like it and can afford it then why not?

Most of the things I own aren’t ‘worth’ the amount of money I paid for them, but I wanted to buy them and was willing to pay the asking price. Simple!

GetawayfromthatWelshtart · 04/03/2020 14:10

No matter how much you pay, if it gets wet it will still end up smelling of cats wee Grin

Morgan12 · 04/03/2020 14:11

No it really doesn't look worth the money.

The Joules one up thread is much nicer imo.

I'm not opposed to spending £££ on bags though. But that one looks really cheap.
