To ask if you can work from home?

Given the spread of COVID 19, are you able to work from home and will you? Are your employers encouraging you to work from home or playing it down?

Civil servant, already WFH one day a week. Been told we are able to work remotely if quarantined.

My Dd came home from China , where she's been teaching English for 3 years, on a prolonged holiday in October and was meant to return after Lunar New Year!....
She's now been running online classes with her pupils for last month which has meant her getting up at 2 am to teach!
I'm a HCP, although work mainly in an office/ clinics ( but also on immunosuppressant medication for chronic illness, so in high risk group )....not looking forward to being asked to go on ward to help out!...

I can't work from home, if I had to self quarantine or got ill I'd be paid full pay (like any other sickness)

DH is self employed so doesn't get paid for time off. He can work from home though if needed.

My employer has just sent round email with the government advice asking everyone to follow it and to call HR with any queries etc.

No, I teach, so need to be face to face with all the coughers and sniffers - not CV, just general lurgy - which is why I am constantly ill! I would say there is more chance of me winning the lottery than my place shutting.

I work from home 50 percent of the time anyway. DH works at the same place although an entirely different section and occasionally works from home when I'm not doing it.
Would be ... interesting.. if we were both working from home at the same time. Especially if dd was at home too pretending to do school work.
We'd make it work.

So now we've now been asked to work from home for the next couple of weeks. I've never done this, any tips? I foresee living in a onesie with my laptop.

Nah. Retail. It’s on a large private site though with multi retail/entertainment so if one member of staff goes down with CV I expect they’ll close the whole site.

Hopefully my job will be safe on a ‘retainer’ but given their reputation I’m sure they’ll just find a way to sack all the staff instead if they have to temporarily close business. Not even kidding.

I can, work in finance for a large company and everyone is set up to work at home 50% of the time as it is.

Was due to fly to Florida next week but having to change everything :(
