I've just been in Home Bargains, I wasnt looking for hand sanitizer but I overheard the manager telling a very angry customer that there is no hand sanitizer in any Home Bargains stores. She seemed to think he was hiding it from her. So not home bargains.

Tunnocks34 · 02/03/2020 15:12

I couldn’t find any! And I don’t want it for the Coronavirus panic - I always keep a bottle in my nappy bag for changing emergencies or for the kids at soft play etc and there was non in Tesco, or my local boots.

picklebarrelfalls · 02/03/2020 15:13

I got some at Aldi this week, they had a small tray of it near the paracetamols etc.

Walnutwhipster · 02/03/2020 15:15

Just bought some in Aldi.

TitaniaQoF · 02/03/2020 15:16

Soap and water works just as well

xJune88 · 02/03/2020 15:18

My home bargains had some yesterday..

h0llygolightly · 02/03/2020 15:21

Try a chemist? Good luck!

Chocolatedaim · 02/03/2020 15:21

Tried to order some on food shop, it’s a relatively normal purchase every few weeks (I’m a childminder) but they didn’t have any. I’ve just brought two antibacterial hand soaps for me and the kiddies instead

kelper · 02/03/2020 15:21

I work for Aldi and we haven't had any for a week at our branch.
We got sent some large bottles for staff use, and 2 have been stolen already, and I've had several customers try to buy the others!

Alone07 · 02/03/2020 15:22

I havent seen any In the larger supermarkets, I got some in a small co-op though.

Doingitforhim · 02/03/2020 15:26

Not wanting to derail the thread, but I have a tub of aloe Vera gel, and a bottle of vodka, does anyone know if I could make an effective sanitiser from these?

NotGenerationAlpha · 02/03/2020 15:27

Anti bacterial ones don’t work if you are buying them for Coronavirus. It’s a virus not a bacteria. All the hand gel I can see are anti bacterial. You need an alcohol based one if you could find any that aren’t from a hospital supply shop.

EveLevine · 02/03/2020 15:27

Primark had little travel size bottles of it at till points a couple of days ago.

They also do a pink unicorn bottle of it in the kids section, not sure of the alcohol content on that though!

Saladd0dger · 02/03/2020 15:28

I work in a store and we sold out a couple weeks ago. The amount of people that have came in asking for it. I’ve checked the book stocks on other stores and they are all out to. Apparently delivery tonight will have some. Wether it turns up or not,
I like to keep some under my till

IsisCam · 02/03/2020 15:29

At my office building someone put them near every toilet and sink early last week. They are now all gone.Sad Taken away by colleagues, perhaps?
No, no luck in Aldi or Boots, or Ocado

I got mine in the small shop inside the hospital I work in. The lady was amused why they sold so fast at £1 per bottle.

Echobelly · 02/03/2020 15:31

I last night ordered 500ml 90% rubbing alcohol and some packs of aloe vera gel on amazon to DIY it at 70% strength alcohol. 2/3 cup gel to 1/3 cup rubbing alcohol according to recipe on line. Could be total bollocks but I can't see that hand gel is more than rubbing alcohol in a substrate so it's worth a try.

IsisCam · 02/03/2020 15:32

Hand gels are usually alcohol based and kill the viruses at 60% alcohol content. They are both antibacterial and antiviral. I don’t know who is spreading the misinformation that they aren’t Smile

At a hospital door.
This seems to be the only place I have seen it.

Awks · 02/03/2020 15:37

Got 2 bottles in Aldi yesterday, they had a few trays of it near the checkouts

Littlemissdaredevil · 02/03/2020 15:40

I’ve bought some bar soap. There was loads left in Sainsburys when I went shopping at the weekend

justcleanyourbloodyteeth · 02/03/2020 15:41

It's all sold out where I live in shops
/ supermarkets / chemists. I've bought some surgical spirit and will make my own if need be once I run out of what I've got at home already.
My god, I can't believe I just wrote that!!!!

BarbedBloom · 02/03/2020 15:42

There is none in my town at all. There are signs in the windows stating this

NotGenerationAlpha · 02/03/2020 15:43

@IsisCam 57.6% only. Not good enough. DH work got something like this too. I hear you need 60% minimal and some says 70%.

To think I can still buy hand sanitizer
NotGenerationAlpha · 02/03/2020 15:43

@IsisCam darn the photo upload didn’t work :(
