OP posts:
cherryblossomgin · 03/03/2020 07:57

Amazon may have it. Luckily I bought some when I last had the cold so we are stocked up.

Fluffybutter · 03/03/2020 08:10

@cousinboneless oh be quiet.. trying to make it sound like no body should be worried and we’re “Pearl clutching”
I’m not worried for ME , I’m worried I could pass it on to someone who could die from it ,like my 71 year old dad, my mil with heart failure , my step dad also with serious heart issues ..
So while you scoff , maybe think of other people ? Couldn’t hurt to be a nice human being once in a while

cousinboneless · 03/03/2020 08:21

How about not encouraging the panic? I don't see the need in scaremongering and putting the wind up those who are already worried. But no, obviously I don't consider other people.

Fluffybutter · 03/03/2020 09:31

That wasn’t what you did though .. you scoffed at those people who were worried .
This thread is already full of those who know about the risks so why would a thread about hand gel cause panic ?

Fuss · 03/03/2020 09:37

Ask a scientist about anti-bac gel and how it reacts within 20 minutes

I am a scientist. Stop making stuff up

Bravo that woman. Made me chuckle that

Hingeandbracket · 03/03/2020 09:52

OP YABU there isn't any left. HTH

Findumdum1 · 03/03/2020 10:06

and yet @fluffybutter doesn't appreciate the common sense. Go figure ..

I would like to hear more about the hand gel reaction. Is it explosive? I've just put some on so I need to know if I'm going to spontaneously combust on this bus.

EmeraldShamrock · 03/03/2020 10:07

I thought Detoll is for cleaning surfaces, can you use it diluted to clean hands and how effective is it compared to a strong hand sanitiser? Not keen on the smell I'm not sure how effective it is. As DC DM always diluted detol to clean out cuts.

Redred2429 · 03/03/2020 10:16

Savers have the alcohol based ones

Chickydoo · 03/03/2020 10:18

Alcohol based ones on amazon yesterday £4.99

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 03/03/2020 10:22

I was picking a prescription up yesterday and witnessed the same conversation three times. No, they have no hand sanitiser, today's stock was gone by 10am, yes they are limiting it but it still flies out, angry customer storms out muttering about how it's not good enough.

Fluffybutter · 03/03/2020 10:23

@Findumdum1 eh ? I was joking as in you’re using common sense and that doesn’t usually go down to well on MN

TheGirlFromStoryville · 03/03/2020 10:24

Aldi had 500ml bottles last week for £1.99.

I bought a few Defendol bottles from Superdrug, hospital grade. £3.49. Going for crazy £ on ebay. Think it's now oos everywhere now.

WhatDoIDooDIoDtahW · 03/03/2020 10:25

Superdrug always have it, primark usually do it, boots, Lloyds chemist.

If none in stock either order some, or buy rubbing alcohol.

marshgame · 03/03/2020 10:27

Soap and hot water failing that tbh we use antibacterial cleaning wipes on our hands always have done ! No Ill effects even on the toddler

PeterPanGoesWrong · 03/03/2020 10:29

I picked up a ne from a Lidl only on Saturday. They had plenty, but I usually get hand sanitizer gel from primark. As primark is mostly associated with clothes rather than toiletries I’d try in there.

Findumdum1 · 03/03/2020 10:53

@fluffybutter

ah ok, apologies, that didn't come across. I thought you were being serious! I was a bit confused as you seemed very sensible on this thread ...

coconuttelegraph · 03/03/2020 10:59

Aldi had 500ml bottles last week for £1.99

Well, there you go OP, time travel back to last week and your problem is solved. What a stupendously unhelpful comment Grin

AuntieMarys · 03/03/2020 11:01

Am I the only person who has never used it?

coconuttelegraph · 03/03/2020 11:01

Superdrug always have it, primark usually do it, boots, Lloyds chemist

I don't know if you've missed the news but the problem Is that all the normal stockists have sold out, you know there's a pretty much nationwide shortage don't you?

coconuttelegraph · 03/03/2020 11:04

Am I the only person who has never used it?

Nope, I've never used it either and I'm not going to be rushing out looking for it eit:ern tbh I had no idea it was such a thing. I've seen the little bottles at supermarket tills but I thought they were for holidays like the small size shampoos etc.

Knowivedonewrong · 03/03/2020 11:07

Nothing in my local Morrisons. If they had any it was only two per customer.
Amazon are selling them at ridiculous prices now.

Konicek007 · 03/03/2020 11:20

Anyone knows if the Wilkos one has high alcohol in it?
We always use it but it says nothing on the bottle.
I bought some more last week but I wonder if it is actually string enough..

Konicek007 · 03/03/2020 11:22

This one..

To think I can still buy hand sanitizer
22Giraffes · 03/03/2020 11:50

I managed to get some Carex ones from Morrisons yesterday, they are Mr Men/Little Miss branded Grin I don't know about the alcohol content but I haven't bought them specifically for coronavirus.
