Search by brand name on amazon, makes it easier.

MoominKitty · 02/03/2020 15:49

My Morrison's has loads in the hand soap aisle, in different scents too, I got a strawberry laces one.

Feelingpoorlysick · 02/03/2020 15:50

I've seen it in aldi and superdrug this week

Patchworkpatty · 02/03/2020 15:53

Just get some rubbing alcohol from the chemist.. cheaper too.

SunburstsOrMarbleHalls · 02/03/2020 15:54

I couldn't find any locally so bought some alcohol sanatiser gel with 65%+ alcohol content online last night for £4.99 for 500ml pump bottle with £2.49 delivery however if you order multiple bottles the delivery charge remains the same. It probably is not the cheapest but at least it isn't at the outrageous inflated prices that I have seen elsewhere online.

There is a delay of 5 days on delivery due to demand but the order was guaranteed as it was in stock and would be allocated to you as the delay was just a dispatch issue due to volume of sales.

I am going to dispense it into small squeezy travel bottles.

AnotherExWife · 02/03/2020 15:55

I just bought some at the tills in lidl - 73.5% alcohol and only 42p. Primark had loads by their tills this weekend, half its usual price though I'm not sure of the alcohol content.

SlayB · 02/03/2020 15:56

I've not had a problem got some little clip on ones for just over a pound.

I also have surgical spirit and 70 % alcohol wipes.

Not noticed any shortage apart from supermarkets.

iVampire · 02/03/2020 15:57

‘ Soap and water works just as well’

Which is fine if you are somewhere with soap and water available, less find when dealing with puppy effluvium in the car and nowhere near a sink.

BramwellBrown · 02/03/2020 16:00

Try Lidls or Wilkinsons, or my local corner shop does it so might be worth looking in yours. (I buy hand gel a lot due to forest school)

HoldMyLobster · 02/03/2020 16:02

Not wanting to derail the thread, but I have a tub of aloe Vera gel, and a bottle of vodka, does anyone know if I could make an effective sanitiser from these?

You can make it from aloe vera gel and rubbing alcohol. Mix 3 parts rubbing alcohol with 1 part aloe vera gel.

That way you still get to drink the vodka. Win win.

YouForgetYourself · 02/03/2020 16:07

DH wanted some and I searched for it in our local town. Finally found some in Primark but they only LOL branded stuff with a natty neon pink sparkly handle, so that's what he's getting Grin

Fluffybutter · 02/03/2020 16:08

It’s getting so fucking tedious with the constant “soap and water are better” yes we know !! But not always possible on a bloody bus or in a meeting to find a sink is it ?!

Sofonisba · 02/03/2020 16:08

OR just wash your hands with soap and water, that way you still get to drink the vodka AND you still get to... do whatever you do with aloe vera gel. Whatever that is.

RoxytheRexy · 02/03/2020 16:10

ASDA delivered me some this morning

brindle · 02/03/2020 16:19

@IsisCam in case it helps, there's some posts on the same topic here too ... www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3837241-To-consider-using-vodka-as-a-hand-sanitiser

It's definitely going on the MN Bingo Card Of Things People Say That They Think Make Them Look Cleverer Than Everyone Else.

Lipperfromchipper · 02/03/2020 16:45

I had someone I know at a pharmaceutical company get me a high grade instant hand sanitizer!! But I also stocked up with DETTOL! It’s a great antiseptic and disinfectant!! But also check builders merchants because they have disinfectant wipes!

Ariela · 02/03/2020 16:48

IMHO, surely you're actually better off buying gloves and wearing those in public places, for opening doors, handling things others would etc.. ...??

FairyDogMother11 · 02/03/2020 16:50

Our Aldi had loads, but then our town is not well known for its hygiene or cleanliness Wink

Elle7rose · 02/03/2020 16:56

To the poster that said antibacterial gels don't work for Coronavirus; that's actually not the case because 62% ethanol does denature Coronavirus.

You are right in respect of other viruses (e.g. Norovirus) though.

Elle7rose · 02/03/2020 16:57

Also yes, soap and water works well BUT after handling money, shopping, being in public places it's a good idea to use gel so that you don't rub your eyes or touch your mouth and get it that way. Then wash your hands once you get in to ensure it's washed away.

picklebarrelfalls · 02/03/2020 17:03

CASH! never thought of that, if it becomes more prevalent I'm definitely sticking to contactless where possible.

Findumdum1 · 02/03/2020 17:03

it doesn't matter if they say ant bacterial as long as they are 60% alcohol in the ingredients list (whichbis pretty much anyone that has alcohol as 1st or 2nd ingredient).

Please stop spreading misinformation everyone that is saying anti bacterial ones dont work.

I got some today in Sainsbury's but they were the last ones I saw anywhere in any shop in 2 towns and central London.

I also with people would stop telling me to just use soap and water. I cant take my sink and soap dispenser non the train to work can I?

7dayslater · 02/03/2020 17:13

Can you order it on Amazon?

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 02/03/2020 17:20

Wilko had some at the tills today
