Been to my local chemist this morning and they have loads. I live rurally maybe that makes a difference 💁🏼‍♀️

Anyone need me to post any?😅

Fluffybutter · 03/03/2020 11:58

Am I the only person who has never used it? I doubt it .
We have always had hand gel just because we visit a lot of theme parks so they’re handy for when you’re in a ride queue .

Boredoftherain · 03/03/2020 11:58

Local cornershops and independant pharmacies near me have them in, not sure about boots/supermarkets

Fluffybutter · 03/03/2020 11:59

Posted to soon... when you’re in a ride queue and other parents let their little darlings cough and sneeze all over the hand rails Envy -not envy

rattusrattus20 · 03/03/2020 12:02

i got some from Boots yesterday AM, on a busy London high street. the same branch didn't have any Sunday PM.

for sure it's selling far quicker than usual but stocks seem adequate for now.

Kazzyhoward · 03/03/2020 12:04

I see the small pocket sized ones are out of stock in some of our local stores, but they have plenty of the larger sizes. Why not just keep the small one once used and refill it from the bigger container. Helps reduce recycling the old smaller ones too!

Ginfilledcats · 03/03/2020 12:06

The guidance is to do good hang washing, and not touch your face. Just do thatConfused

Boredoftherain · 03/03/2020 12:49

@Ginfilledcats for those of us on public transport or don't always have access to handwashing areas throughout the day (as in few and far between opportunities) it's not as easy as just washing your hands. I appreciate the majority of people will be able to wash their hands but in my job, it's not always possible to hand-wash as frequently as I would like (ie. Very often Grin)

Chocolatedaim · 03/03/2020 12:51

I hand wash constantly (childminder) and my skin is red raw, does anyone have any good hand cream recommendations? Perhaps one that is also anti bacterial/viral 😁

Fluffybutter · 03/03/2020 12:59

@Boredoftherain it doesn’t matter how many times you tell people that on these threads , they still say it anyway .
It’s frustrating !

Pentium85 · 03/03/2020 12:59

Where do you all live where there isn’t any? All my local shops have everything as normal

ritatherockfairy · 03/03/2020 13:42

None where I live but I suspect that a minority of people are buying up boxes of them to re-sell on ebay etc..

Stressheadme123 · 03/03/2020 13:47

This confuses me how does hand gel help if coronavirus is airborne

Boredoftherain · 03/03/2020 13:48

@Fluffybutter very! It's particularly important if I want to eat on the go without utensils which often happens. I miss the desk job life, where sinks were only a few feet away and I didn't have to get on a train or a bus Grin I'm not overly fussed about germs but something about public transport that makes me feel filthy!

FlossieTeacakesFurCoat18 · 03/03/2020 13:51

My local Tiger has loads

belay · 03/03/2020 13:55

Viruses enter through the eyes, ears and mouth. Hand sanitizer won't help . Wash with soap and water

Fluffybutter · 03/03/2020 13:56

@Boredoftherain me too! I’ve never been that bothered either but trains /the tube especially make me feel like I want to disinfect my whole body and that was way before this virus

Pentium85 · 03/03/2020 13:59

@belay
If they enter through the eyes, ears and mouth, then why is hand washing any good?
Because your argument is clearly that gels aren’t good because they’re for your hands?

goldie04 · 03/03/2020 14:02

It is in home bargains by the till. I got some today and there were plenty of bottles

motheroftwoboys · 03/03/2020 14:21

loads of it all over the shops here in the north east. We must not be worried. Hardy Geordies.

LadyofMisrule · 03/03/2020 14:24

Our local Lidl had some in today.

Theresnobslikeshowbs · 03/03/2020 14:39

belay yes hand gel will help. People get virus on their hands and touch their face, way more than they realise. However, it’s only to get you from a-b when you can wash your hands.

PickAChew · 03/03/2020 14:43

Markses have the wipes by the checkouts.

Worth looking at first aid supplies for alcohol wipes, too.

GinDrinker00 · 03/03/2020 14:46

I got some on eBay. £6.99 for a 40 ml bottle. Everywhere around me has sold out. Angry

AmazingBouncingFerret · 03/03/2020 15:10

I’ve managed to order 5 massive dispenser bags of hospital grade from my wholesale supplier. I know it’s not any help but I’m tempted to invest in some empty travel bottles so I can sell it on Grin
