Boobing

Argh!!
In my sleep deprived state I'm going to explode soon. Help!!
My DD is a year old and still breastfeeds a lot, including overnight. Has never taken bottle so it's always just me.

I have a friend who is in the same boat so we are in contact a fair amount, basically giving each other tips, reassurance etc.

But she ALWAYS refers to breastfeeding as "boobing". I dont mind the word boob, but its constant.

"He boobs to sleep then he wakes up so I boob him to sleep again. When we cosleep he boobs all night. I try to boob him less during the day but he just wants boob"

She is the loveliest person in the world, but honestly I'm going to scream.

AIBU?

Oh god shudder

HomerSimpsonSmilingPolitely · 01/03/2020 19:56

Oh crap. I was hoping the many night feeds would have stopped by 1 year old.

Excuse me whilst I cry into my cuppa

Gormless · 01/03/2020 19:57

My toes are curling just reading this.

DesLynamsMoustache · 01/03/2020 19:57

She's been reading this!

PlasticReplacementUterus · 01/03/2020 19:57

You could use "tit" or similar in the same way, maybe it'll wake her up to how weird she's being. She might ask you not to use that word which gives you an opening to do the same!

ExpletiveDelighted · 01/03/2020 19:58

YANBU

Ohtherewearethen · 01/03/2020 19:58

I really hate this! But be warned, OP, last time I agreed with someone on here that I hated it I was told I was a bitch who made someone cry!

WickedlyPetite · 01/03/2020 19:59

YANBU.

I also know a boober who talks about boobing and how she has/had to boob her baby.

I cringe myself inside out every time I have to listen to it.

Strongmummy · 01/03/2020 19:59

🤣🤣🤣🤣 it’s vile. Tell her to shut it

DesLynamsMoustache · 01/03/2020 19:59

I was guilty of using 'boob' as a noun occasionally when I breastfed such as 'Oh she just wants boob, give her here' to DH (not in random society). But the verbing of it is a twee step too far.

JasonBrun · 01/03/2020 20:00

I use it all the time. Breastfeeding sounds very Victorian to me.

Boob boobed booby boob

LTF - leave the friend

muddypuddles12 · 01/03/2020 20:02

@Iheartwhitetshirts BRILLIANT

SachaStark · 01/03/2020 20:02

It’s gross and twee, but generally used by people who also can’t bring themselves to use the correct language for other things. “Famalam” and “Hollibobs” and such.

Ah well, I shan’t catch myself using it EVER, so they can carry on.

SilverOtter · 01/03/2020 20:03

"Keep on boobing Mama"

No. Just no.🤢

MarthasGinYard · 01/03/2020 20:03

It's Grim

Gives me a picture of some baby just Being suffocated constantly by some comedy style breast.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 01/03/2020 20:05

YANBU. I read a resale good article just after I had DC1. Can't remember where I read it or who it was by but it basically said you may end up BFing for far longer than you intended and your DC may well be talking so don't call it anything you don't want them asking for at the top of their voice at the checkout.

Sparklingbrook · 01/03/2020 20:06

I would be very Hmm having to listen to that.

SachaStark · 01/03/2020 20:06

Oh god, yes, coupled with the use of the word “mama”, which is just unacceptable on anyone over the age of about two and a half.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 01/03/2020 20:06

Oh and if you are struggling at night, have you tried sone gentle night weaning?

Barbie222 · 01/03/2020 20:08

YY to the pp who suggested you begin to use the verb "titting". Without tittering, until she asks you to stop.

MarthasGinYard · 01/03/2020 20:08

Bet she calls him

Her 'lil' boob monster' aswell or similar

SachaStark · 01/03/2020 20:10

“Titting without tittering” sounds like a delightful countryside activity for a Sunday afternoon.

Namechangexyz1 · 01/03/2020 20:12

As someone else said use tit.

My baby always wants titting all night. They make up and I have to tit them to sleep again.

Haha thanks for all the replies. Glad its not just me.

Right I'm going to start practicing.
"DD was titting all night. She titted 3 times today..."

(Also, I know a lot of people use this word-this is light hearted....kind of)

Also, In all fairness shes not up constantly anymore, But I do normally get 2-3 wake ups a night. We've never had close to what I could call a full night's sleep. I'll have a look at that link PP posted (sorry, it's not letting me tag for some reason).
