Boobing

Argh!!
In my sleep deprived state I'm going to explode soon. Help!!
My DD is a year old and still breastfeeds a lot, including overnight. Has never taken bottle so it's always just me.

I have a friend who is in the same boat so we are in contact a fair amount, basically giving each other tips, reassurance etc.

But she ALWAYS refers to breastfeeding as "boobing". I dont mind the word boob, but its constant.

"He boobs to sleep then he wakes up so I boob him to sleep again. When we cosleep he boobs all night. I try to boob him less during the day but he just wants boob"

She is the loveliest person in the world, but honestly I'm going to scream.

AIBU?

It’s fucking EXCRUCIATING

I’m part of a bf fb group, it’s really useful and a good source of info, but man, they all fucking say it.

JoshArcherStoleMyTractor · 01/03/2020 21:38

I always just said fed, the lack of bottles gives the game away, not that it matters to anyone how you feed your child. I absolutely abhor the use of nouns as verbs and this is a particularly twee vomit inducing one. Grammatically, I started as I mean to go on with DS.

ExhaustedFlamingo · 01/03/2020 21:39

Boob, boobing etc as a verb makes me cringe in the deepest possible sense.

In my experience, these are people who also use words like "chillax" and describe their DS/DD as a "sexy little prince/princess".

I know they're only words but I feel a loathing deep in my soul. I'm not even sorry

AddressLabel · 01/03/2020 21:39

@Thisismytimetoshine probably because I don't give a fuck. Wink

Instatwat · 01/03/2020 21:39

@Thisismytimetoshine It was just a joke! God almighty, if you don’t find it funny you can just skim it and not reply. Why do people feel the need to police what others add to a thread if it’s not directed at them personally? Anyway, the point of the thread is that what you do in private isn’t anybody else’s business - correct me if I’m wrong but the point seemed to me to be about overusing the word “boob”. All I did was contribute that I’d use it in (what I consider to be) an ironic way at home but would never use it in public. No idea why that’s so offensive to some.

@sauvignonblancplz it’s to the tune of Beastie Boys’ Body Movin’.

Iconapop · 01/03/2020 21:40

Boobing is horrendous - it makes me shudder internally. I think I would actually prefer ‘titted’.Grin
(It’s nothing to do with pearl clutching and I loved breastfeeding.)

CrocodileFondue · 01/03/2020 21:40

I detest the "boobing" thing, so cringy.

I breastfeed DC myself and have done for a couple of years now but I don't talk about it much, not really anyone's business and I doubt they'd be interested. It's a pretty standard thing for a mammal to do so I'm confused why it's such a big deal and people feel the need to show off about it and have special Facebook groups etc.

puds11 · 01/03/2020 21:41

I’ve literally never heard this in real life. Where do you lot hang out Grin

Megan2018 · 01/03/2020 21:43

Boobs all the way here. Not sorry!

Instatwat · 01/03/2020 21:44

@LaMarschallin S'okay...
S'fine, carry o.....
...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Grin Bedtime anyway, innit. You’re welcome! (Caught your second message too, thanks)

AddressLabel · 01/03/2020 21:44

@Instatwat I think you're getting your knickers in a twist. I'm merely replying to the post where I was asked why I feel the need to bore people with the use of boob a lot. The answer was as I don't give a fuck. Calm down dear, did you not see my grin emoji at the end of my post?

Instatwat · 01/03/2020 21:45

@AddressLabel??? I wasn’t replying to you

ladycarlotta · 01/03/2020 21:45

@crocodilefondue why would you assume they're showing off? Maybe they just need support, or a community where they can talk or ask questions with people who understand? As a breastfeeding mother yourself I'm sure you know that it's not always plain sailing, even when your feeding is well established.

There's nothing wrong with being proud of breastfeeding, mind you, but I doubt that people just join those groups to showboat.

AddressLabel · 01/03/2020 21:45

HA, actually I owe you an apology @Instatwat I thought you were replying to me when you were not!

Thisismytimetoshine · 01/03/2020 21:46

Well, as long as you surround yourself with people not easily bored I suppose that’ll work for you, AddressLabel

SachaStark · 01/03/2020 21:47

Oh oh OH. Another one I’ve just remembered that’s been making me cringe recently:

A bunch of my friends have recently had babies, and every single one of them keeps captioning Instastory posts of their sleeping babies with “milk drunk!”

I mean, that’s gross, right? Makes me shudder every time I see it, despite the cute baby in the photo.

GabsAlot · 01/03/2020 21:47

why cant they say baby needs feeding-i dont care where the food is

next it will be bitty mummy

grudieabbey · 01/03/2020 21:48

I have such an extreme reaction to that word / term that I said FFS when I read your post title and almost skipped the post entirely just to comment that I despise it.

It’s so crass. I breastfed and was proud to do so and did so publicly but the term ‘boob’ makes me feel a little sick tbh.

Instatwat · 01/03/2020 21:48

Well this thread has been a shitshow for me, I’m going home! Wine

LangSpartacusCleg · 01/03/2020 21:50

It is not a Fucking verb! Bet she says ‘famalam’ too while she is busy ‘making memories’.

LTF!

LaMarschallin · 01/03/2020 21:50

Instatwat

Well this thread has been a shitshow for me, I’m going home! wine

Oi!

At least take home your Flowers

attatiti · 01/03/2020 21:51

It’s very attention seeking. Babies have been fed for many generations.

Smurfy23 · 01/03/2020 21:51

I was doing alright with this thread until I got to "booby juice"..... just no.

Yanbu OP. Anyone who boobs is a bit of a boob tbh.

Thisismytimetoshine · 01/03/2020 21:52

Or a bit of a tit?

AriadnesFilament · 01/03/2020 21:58

I think, OP, you should go for broke here, and wab yours to sleep actually.

Or nork her.
