To ask if you were a contestant on a kids TV show as a child?

DH and I stumbled across our beloved childhood TV show 'Knightmare' on YouTube. Fell down a rabbit hole for the last hour!

It got me thinking about being a contestant on it (I always wanted to!).

I know it's not really AIBU but would love to hear experiences from anyone who went on there as a child, or any kids show?

I used to love that show! Always wondered how they filmed it.

Bubblysqueak · 01/03/2020 19:36

Now off to find it on YouTube.

cptartapp · 01/03/2020 19:37

Not me, but SIL was on 'Cheggars plays pop' back in the 70's.

SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel · 01/03/2020 19:38

Loved that show too, would have loved to have been on it. Apparently hardly anyone ever won it. I never understood how the contestants knew what to do.

I'd have also loved to have been on the segment 'wait till we get you home' on Noels House Party, but my parents would never have agreed!

Fun House might have been another good one.

I went out with someone a few years after they'd been on Jim'll Fix It Confused

SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel

It was tough! According to Wikipedia, only 8 groups won it over 8 series! Shock

I was on the bean bags on Jim’ll Fix It! But didn’t get anything fixed. I thought he was called Jimell. And all because my mum was auditioning to be on Blankety Blank with Terry Wogan in the studio next door. She got through but Les Dawson had taken over by then and she wasn’t so keen on him.

Tiredandold1 · 01/03/2020 19:47

And my sister and I loved Knighmare OP! That talking wall freaked me out though.

MT2017 · 01/03/2020 19:48

Definitely not a chat up line! I've just read Louis Theroux's autobiography and JS is properly yuck Envy

Omg the wall! CGI has come so far since, thank goodness.

Not me but a friend i went to school with and her brother were on fun house and the envy of everyone when they won some portable dvd players amongst other "cool stuff"( it was the 90s)

ShinyMe · 01/03/2020 19:55

I was. I was on a Welsh show set in a school, where contestants had big cartoon desks to sit at, and the rounds were all based on school subjects. My mum still has the video. I'm all squeaky and answer questions about Ray Reardon and sheep.

captainprincess · 01/03/2020 19:57

Some kids from my school were on Knightmare!! They didn't last long though!

I loved Funhouse! Pat Sharps mullet was awful though. I was at a festival he was dj-ing at recently, and he's surprisingly hot now Blush

I was on a quiz show, filmed at Granada TV in Manchester, twice.
Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart was the host.
There were various actors from Coronation Street in the canteen and I was embarrassed to be offered autographs by people I'd never heard of.

justshutthedoor · 01/03/2020 20:08

Yes I was on a show called 'Hangar 17' which was on children's bbc but very few people remember it.
