DH and I stumbled across our beloved childhood TV show 'Knightmare' on YouTube. Fell down a rabbit hole for the last hour!

It got me thinking about being a contestant on it (I always wanted to!).

I know it's not really AIBU but would love to hear experiences from anyone who went on there as a child, or any kids show?

I remember Hangar 17. I was never on a show. A boy in my primary school's family was on family fortunes.

I met Timmy Mallet at Butlins when I was 11 😂

I was in the background of the presenters that sat on a sofa and introduced the shows on Nickelodeon, if anyone knows what I'm talking about. They filmed it at Trocadero at Piccadilly and I had an orange tango man plastic doll thing and was waving it around and they commented on it on air.

My friend won something on live and kicking and we all went mad ringing each other when they called her name out.

We were in the audience on top of the pops. That mark whatever his name is, return of the mack singer was presenting it 🙄 Ash were on too though 😍

😂😂😂

Ahh thanks! It was hard deciding between this one and Crystal Kingdom Dizzy.

Many hours after school were spent trying to complete the games, until I gave in and bought the magazine that taught all the cheats Blush

GrinGrinGrin Your husband is evil.

That mug should be 'accidently' dropped whilst washing up!

@SinkGirl
I’m sorry but I find that absolutely hilarious and it’s something I would totally do (although I wouldn’t have thought of the mug, now that is next-level bastardish) Grin

I was on We Are The Champions looking like an absolute muppet, asking questions of a sportspersons I knew nothing about.

Shoppingwithmother · 01/03/2020 20:40

I was on the Wide Awake Club doing a spelling competition called Bonk and Boob(!).

I won a Wac Pac with a tin of Alphabetti Spaghetti in it.

cologne4711 · 01/03/2020 20:40

Surely someone was on Blockbusters?

Some girls from my school went on a general knowledge quiz show but I can't remember the name of it. Not Top of the Form.

I made it to the (local) radio but not TV (didn't bother me as I am hopelessly untelegenic).

Me and my sister were in the opening credits to Larry Graysons Generation Game, we were on the water slide at Peasholme park, sat behind him and Isla StClare!

Looking on you tube now to see if i can find it!

I was on a local kids show in the 60s in Australia. It was my birthday and mum and dad kept it secret from me.Was live so picked me up from school in my uniform! Worst thing was none of my friends saw me as they all watched the national channels and it was pre video.

CherryPavlova · 01/03/2020 20:51

I was on, 'Saturday Banana' hosted by Bill Oddie. I was on their, 'Runaround' segment. I lost out on the main prize, 'computer battleships' because I didn't know the answer to the last question.

I still went up the banana and slid down the other side, even though I didn't have to.

I remember Paul Young's, 'Street Band' was in the studio with their song, 'Toast.' A very young Susan Tully was a co-presenter.

I only got into it because my sister applied but was a year too old by the time her application was processed.

My Nanna and Grandad at the time saw it even though they kept calling it, 'The Banana Boat.'

My Nanna saw Susan Tully co-presenting and she wasn't much older than me, my Nanna said, 'why can't Water and sibling have a turn ?' No, Nanna, I thought. It's not youth club !

There's episodes of it on You Tube but I've yet to wade through them to see if the episode I was in is there.

lovemenomore · 01/03/2020 21:12

BUNNIESandBISCUITS · 01/03/2020 21:14

Loved Knightmare! Although it gave me a recurring bad dream when I was very small. Still remember it in detail now.

WaterIsWide · 01/03/2020 21:16

Found it ! Blimey !!

nevermorelenore · 01/03/2020 21:17

I knew someone who did Funhouse. They won the main prize which was a shit adventure holiday to somewhere like Cheddar Gorge.

A friend of mine won a CD player on Live and Kicking and I was so jealous. I'd never seen a CD before!

Wow, someone did Finders Keepers. I wanted to go on that show more than anything as a kid.

AngelNix · 01/03/2020 21:22

I always wanted to go on the kids game show where they were in a pool and had a giant obstacle course/games in the water.......not sure if it was We Are The Champions, but can't remember the name of it!

SinkGirl · 01/03/2020 21:28

Wow, someone did Finders Keepers. I wanted to go on that show more than anything as a kid.

It was really good fun at the time. A source of much mockery later though!

Thebishopofbanterbury · 01/03/2020 21:30

In the 80s, my friend and I were on the swings in the park while Rod, Jane and Freddy sang a song next to us in Rainbow!
