DH has just told me, at 10 to 8 at night, that we are having some old friends of his over tomorrow for breakfast! At 8am! This from the man who NEVER gets up to do our DS breakfast feed at 6.30/7am. But he can get up for people he hasnt seen for 8 years, that I have never met! I am full of rage. But perhaps IABU as I'm knackered and hormonal!

Maybe the WiFi doesn't reach OP's bedroom so she can't update while enjoying her full English/continental breakfast in bed?

alltakingandnogiving · 01/03/2020 10:05

And I could do re-heated, 2-day-old veg chilli leftovers, three end-slices of bread (scrape off the mould) and half a bottle of wine (if they're quick).

GreenTulips · 01/03/2020 10:17

Unescorted

Shared space? Nobody shares my space in a Sunday morning! It’s bad manners.

OldUnit · 01/03/2020 10:21

Why though!? Why are they coming at 8am!?!

Are they passing through, off out for an activity? I don't get it.

I'd be guessing this was more their suggestion than your DP's, but he was a weasel for going along with it!

HowlsMovingBungalow · 01/03/2020 10:23

Probably got one of those hobbies, you know thats outing ...

Umberta · 01/03/2020 10:24

OP is probably having a great time making friends with her new guests! No news is good news!

URWelcome · 01/03/2020 10:31

I hope OP is enjoying a leisurely bath after her full English, lovingly made by her husband and served to her in bed.

If she’s washing up greasy plates right now I say LTB.

Quicklittlenamechange · 01/03/2020 10:44

Is Umberta a sock do we think Wink

LadySlipper11 · 01/03/2020 10:48

Update! DH unearthed some bacon in the freezer last night so he made bacon rolls. I did get up to meet them and say hello, but I didnt help in any way just sat leisurely drinking my tea and saying things like "oh this is so nice, you never normally do this (wanker)" because I'm mature.

Definitely having a conversation later about him helping more with DC breakfast. To be fair to him he does a lot with them during the day and bath and bedtime is always his responsibility, but that is NOT THE SAME as giving me a lie in!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍💃🎉

Taswama · 01/03/2020 10:53

Excellent update OP! Well done!

SallyLovesCheese · 01/03/2020 10:53

Good for you, OP, but why were they there at 8am anyway?!

RandomMess · 01/03/2020 11:07

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Love it, you can do Saturdays and him Sundays.

"So you will do it for friends but not me and the DC???"

Greenandpleasanter · 01/03/2020 11:09

Great outcome OP.

LadySlipper11 · 01/03/2020 11:13

And it was them that suggested the 8am! They were in the area for a wedding and are travelling home today. It was DH that responded with "well come on over for breakfast then" which still makes him an idiot.

OP posts:
cstaff · 01/03/2020 11:16

Well played OP. I love a good positive outcome. Now he just needs to start shifting his arse for his own kids early next Saturday or Sunday. We can be fair here - you do Sat and he does Sunday or vice versa now he has proved that it is fucking possible!!

BigFatLiar · 01/03/2020 11:18

Wasn't breakfast included with their hotel/guest house?
He's an idiot as you say, they'd probably have been happier with an extra hour in bed as well. Could have stopped by later in the morning for coffee/tea before they left.

cstaff · 01/03/2020 11:19

I'm loving your passive aggressive comments around the breakfast table. I know mn doesn't like them in general but in your case they were bang on the money Grin

BabyWenger · 01/03/2020 11:21

I'd go fucking spare if DP invited anyone for breakfast.

AnneKipanki · 01/03/2020 11:30

How many guests?

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 01/03/2020 11:34

Good outcome, Ladyslippers!

And yes, now he's shown himself capable, he can fucking do it again next weekend just for you, but preferably at a more reasonable hour!

Nanny0gg · 01/03/2020 11:38

You are a much nicer person than me @LadySlipper11

And your 'guests' were just as thoughtless as your husband

GlitchStitch · 01/03/2020 11:43

This thread really is peak MN. 'Just pop the champagne in the fridge'- because everybody just has a bottle of that lying around!

He can definitely get up with the kids now OP!

URWelcome · 01/03/2020 11:53

Thanks for updating us, OP.

Every Sunday should be ‘bacon roll in bed for you’ now, surely?

moondance19 · 01/03/2020 12:08

Stay in bed, ask for yours to be brought up to you and let him crack on.
