DH has just told me, at 10 to 8 at night, that we are having some old friends of his over tomorrow for breakfast! At 8am! This from the man who NEVER gets up to do our DS breakfast feed at 6.30/7am. But he can get up for people he hasnt seen for 8 years, that I have never met! I am full of rage. But perhaps IABU as I'm knackered and hormonal!

Hope you have stayed in bed. If you have done any of the cooking etc then you are countencing this misogyny.
Tbh this shows a bit of contempt for you that he'd tell you so late the night before and expect you to do the work.
Time to stop being a door mat and make him get up one of the weekend mornings with the kids every weekend, now you've seen how he really views you

Hahaha88 · 01/03/2020 08:30

8am guests?? Wtaf. I'd be fuming too.

We eat porridge/wheatabix/ready brek for breakfast. I could do toast on slightly questionable standard wholemeal bread with eggs. Not exactly exciting stuff

OwlinaTree · 01/03/2020 08:32

I win the thread! I have pain au chocolate in the freezer (preens)

fedup21 · 01/03/2020 08:35

What happened??

Mummyoflittledragon · 01/03/2020 08:44

Owlina
Raise your pain au chocolat for 4 fresh croissants, 24 eggs, 3 types of bread including part baked (I’m gluten free and dh likes rye bread), a pack of frozen bacon, hash browns lurking somewhere, baked beans and a couple of tomatoes. Wink

And I haven’t even really started Coronavirus prepping.... Bet the preppers will have far more!!

Nanny0gg · 01/03/2020 08:45

Even all the cafes round here (mostly in garden centres) don't open at 8am!

drspouse · 01/03/2020 08:46

I'm hoping the OP is still in bed!

KahlanRahl · 01/03/2020 08:53

We don't do breakfast so if they would come here they'd end up with frozen banana slices.

JavaQ · 01/03/2020 08:56

I hope the OP is snoring loudly!

Quicklittlenamechange · 01/03/2020 08:56

Frozen pain au chocolat 😂

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 01/03/2020 08:57

How did it go, @LadySlipper11?
I hope you either bunted them out to a caf or got your husband to do all the legwork while you did what you wanted to.

NO ONE gets access to my house at 8am without mucho notice and my invitation - I'm barely awake by then and almost never on a Sunday!

OwlinaTree · 01/03/2020 08:58

mummy Grin

HowlsMovingBungalow · 01/03/2020 08:59

Hmm @ the breakfast hosting competition.

Hope you are still in bed OP!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 01/03/2020 09:00

@NannyOgg - depending on where the OP et al live, there could be a McDonalds open, or a greasy spoon that caters for early birds

veryveryverytired · 01/03/2020 09:07

Why hasn't he ever got up with his dc? Why haven't you told him to fuck off and get the fuck up?

I'd help my dh with an 8am breakfast but he's not a lazy selfish prick.

TheMaddHugger · 01/03/2020 09:09

I could do a fancy breakfast

but I dont wanna

Parker231 · 01/03/2020 09:15

We often have breakfast with friends but never at 8am and always at the local deli.

Aragog · 01/03/2020 09:26

8am, in a weekend?!?
Who even does that. When I read breakfast guests I assumed you may have people staying overnight hence the need for serving breakfast. Not people arriving at 8am!

Maybe brunch at 11ish but not 8am.

Who even accepts an 8am weekend invitation?!

I hope you got your Dh to sort it all and not done it yourself!

fedup21 · 01/03/2020 09:28

Who are these people and where are they staying? Why hasn’t your DH seen them for so long?

Do they have somewhere really important to be today and are just squeezing you in between other things??

TheMaddHugger · 01/03/2020 09:28

Meanwhile in OP's home she went to bed reading -

I'm just surprised so many people profess to not have any food in their houses over the weekend to actually feed 2 more people than usual.

I have food in. However I don't really have any proper breakfast stuff in bar cereals. When we have arranged friends staying over We'd normally cook a full breakfast bit just a quick bowl of cornflakes.

At present I have no bread in and only have about half a pint of milk left. I have 3 eggs, no bacon, the sausages are in the freezer, no jam, no fruit juice.

Ocado comes on a Sunday just before lunch for us. So I'd be fine to host lunch or tea, but not really breakfast.

Itstheprinciple · 01/03/2020 09:43

8am? On a Sunday?

I'm reasonably sure even the guests were probably sat at home last night thinking WTF?

Breakfast with guests surely happens at 10am at the earliest?

And for the record, I'd be struggling to cobble something together as Sunday is our big shop day. It would have been a late night supermarket dash for DH I he'd sprung that upon me.

Elletine · 01/03/2020 09:45

How did it go @LadySlipper11?

AngelicInnocent · 01/03/2020 09:46

I'm amazed that anyone would consider doing a bacon and egg style breakfast at that time in the morning for several people. Especially with young DC to sort out too.

Surely if you were actually bonkers enough to host an 8am get together, you would hit the supermarket the day before, loaf up on pastries and some lovely fruit.

Takes 10 minutes to arrange nicely, minimal washing up, add some decent coffee and you are good to go.

maddiemookins16mum · 01/03/2020 09:46

I’d be able to do eggy bread and baked beans plus one frozen Richmond sausage each. Oh and some Raspberry yoghurt.
