What worries me is the fact that it can survive on surfaces for nine days - danger lurks absolutely everywhere

PlomBear · 26/02/2020 18:51

“Use a separate bathroom” hahaha how many people only have bathroom?

Skyejuly · 26/02/2020 18:51

Our message from schools said only if symptoms?

I've done screen shots too, but best to check the link above first.

Also, how are you meant to know the difference between corona and a cold? Surely a million people have a cold right now in the UK?

On a bit of a tangent but it'll be interesting to what impact self isolation and consciousness hygiene measures might have on the seasonal flu rates.

PlomBear · 26/02/2020 19:01

www.gov.uk/guidance/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-for-the-public

If you have travelled from:

Iran
specific lockdown areas in northern Italy as designated by the Government of Italy
‘special care zones’ in South Korea as designated by the Government of the Republic of South Korea
Hubei province (returned in the past 14 days)
You should immediately:

stay indoors and avoid contact with other people as you would with the flu
call NHS 111 to inform them of your recent travel to the area

Please follow this advice even if you do not have symptoms of the virus.

RedToothBrush · 26/02/2020 19:02

This is what PHE have said.

Category 1 areas - report to 111 regardless of how you feel

Category 2 areas - call 111 only if you feel unwell

See above maps for distinction of cat 1 and cat 2 areas.

#ITALY— 10 new #coronavirus cases positive in the hotel in #Alassio (Savona). In #Liguria there are 16 positive at the moment. One is from Spezia, 15 come from the Alassio- from the two hotels. 3 are still being verified and confirmed, all 3 from Alassio

KoalasandRabbit · 26/02/2020 19:05

Another update on Abels came out couple of hours ago - she tested clear, he tested positive. Apologies if someone already posted.

ritatherockfairy · 26/02/2020 19:06

This is interesting about the spread in Italy

www.theguardian.com/world/2020/feb/26/coronavirus-inquiry-opens-into-hospitals-at-centre-of-italy-outbreak

Apparently the guy first went to see GP on the 14th Feb but wasn't tested until the 20th - all the while showing symptoms and infecting others.

DartmoorChef · 26/02/2020 19:06

Im getting a bit worried now. We are due to fly out to lanzarote on mar 14. Our main worry to be honest is that we could end up quarantined in the hotel if there is an outbreak while are there.

Twixes · 26/02/2020 19:07

Thanks for the new thread and for all the updates, I'm keeping a close eye on all developments.

ofwarren · 26/02/2020 19:08

DressingGownofDoom · 26/02/2020 19:11

I wonder what the situation for our salaries will be if we are quarantined for 2 weeks Confused

HeIenaDove · 26/02/2020 19:15

YY PlomBear Have they ever seen a one bedroom social housing flat?

RedToothBrush · 26/02/2020 19:16

I wonder what the situation for our salaries will be if we are quarantined for 2 weeks

I guess that depends on who your employer is, but yes it could be potentially financially devastating for some people.

Facial hair styles such as mutton chops can interfere with effectiveness of respirators

Glittercandle · 26/02/2020 19:21

DD (18) and her boyfriend her going to Amsterdam next week, I know they'll not cancel. I think the chance of catching the virus is pretty slim and am more worried about them being quarantined.

ofwarren · 26/02/2020 19:23

So far Amsterdam is ok Glitter
Try not to worry. The odds of them catching it are still small.
Try and get them to be aware of hand washing.

Snowdropdelight · 26/02/2020 19:24

Plom on another thread someone posted some of good self isolation within a home, from Japan I think.

How to put plates in something like dettol for five mins after use, use bathroom last then wipe down etc etc etc.
We have have one loo it would be tricky.

KenDodd · 26/02/2020 19:25

Can anyone link to the sky news map?

Ba cancelling Milan flights.

Tbf there hasn't been much demand in the last few days...

NaturalBornWoman · 26/02/2020 19:27

So is there now evidence that China did underestimate their cases? Earlier it seemed that WHO were saying they didn’t and therefore there wasn’t a high number of mild cases to bring the CFR down.
