Outside view on something that happened at a party

Hi all, just sanity checking something that happened.

Both Couple A & Couple B together for 20+ years, children etc. The couples have known each for a couple of years. Not particularly close but have always got on well in social situations. This particular night, everyone getting quite GinGin but still lucid. Wife B is paying particular attention to Husband A. Husband B is elsewhere (at the party), Wife B is sitting at Husband A's shoulder. Wife B is talking directly to Wife A, says "My husband (Husband B) really does like you (Wife A), but not as much as I (Wife B) like Husband A."

This has caused some stress in Couple A, as Husband A cannot see any issue. Is Wife A being unreasonable to think Wife B has just signalled a very "special" or "creepy" interest in Husband A and that Wife B was being somewhat insulting towards Wife A by saying this so openly? Smile.

Bagofoldbones · 24/02/2020 20:37

Swingers

idontlike789 · 24/02/2020 20:37

They are probably swingers Grin

Stressedout10 · 24/02/2020 20:39

You've been invited to a wife swap 🤢

ItStartedWithAKiss241 · 24/02/2020 20:39

Yep this is a bit over-friendly and I would suggest it was a hint at a sexual thing x

Ponoka7 · 24/02/2020 20:39

I'd say that was a swinging invite.

Justmuddlingalong · 24/02/2020 20:40

Swingers. Husband A is flattered by the comment and doesn't see your issue with it because of that.

Divebar · 24/02/2020 20:41

Ha ha. Defo swingers. What was she offended by? The fact the woman wanted to shag her husband or that the woman’s husband didn’t want to shag her so much?

Largeyellowdaffodil · 24/02/2020 20:41

Wife swapping

My advice- make sure that you and your new partner get the best house and the least trouble children.

cochineal7 · 24/02/2020 20:41

I am assuming you are Wife A. And I would assume it was a not so veiled invite for either partner exchange or group sex rather than an insult.

Ohyesiam · 24/02/2020 20:42

Swingers

loutypips · 24/02/2020 20:44

Was there a bowl full of keys anywhere by chance?

PrincessHoneysuckle · 24/02/2020 20:45

Are they called Donald and Jacqueline?

MrsGrindah · 24/02/2020 20:45

Or pampas grass outside?

Chesntoots · 24/02/2020 20:46

Pampas grass anywhere?

thepeopleversuswork · 24/02/2020 20:47

Does sound like an invitation for swinging.

As to whether it crosses a line, depends very much on the nature of the friendships and the people involved. I can imagine this without comment among some people I know, in other circles would be a high crime. I assume you're Wife A?

IceColdCat · 24/02/2020 20:47

Husband A really thinks that was a totally normal and acceptable thing to say??

TryToBalance · 24/02/2020 20:51

@IceColdCat. Does not seem to see there might be an issue. Seems obvious though, surely? Will add that Wife B's tone/gist was that Husband B not interested in Wife A sexually.

I’m surprised by the responses, to me wife A sounds completely neurotic. It seems like just a bit of tipsy/drunk flirting.

BerylReader · 24/02/2020 20:54

My mums neighbour asked her if she’d be into swapping husbands. She said ‘What for? A camel?’

TheGirlWithAPrince · 24/02/2020 20:57

Yeah I say wife swap or 4some as well

managedmis · 24/02/2020 20:57

Good one beryl Grin

TryToBalance · 24/02/2020 20:59

@Reginabambina. Wife B had about 15 minutes previous, asked Wife A to "go and fix us (Wife B & Husband A) a couple of gins".

Oh God - they haven't got pampas grass in their front garden, have they?!

99problemsandthecatis1 · 24/02/2020 21:04

I'd say wife A was suggesting a 3some.
