What could you NOT do, even if your life depended on it?

LIGHTHEARTED

After commenting on another thread that my worst nightmare would be to have to dive underwater & resurface somewhere else. You always see it in films & they look like they’ll run out of air. Or they do it on Bushtucker Trials.

I can’t even watch it on tv / a film - gives me such anxiety. It is related to a PTSD issue, so that makes it maybe a bit more understandable, but I’m not sure I could do it, even if my life depended on it. Obviously, I’d have to try... 😬

What, if anything, would you struggle with?

Pull myself up to safety if I was hanging by my hands. I might as well just let go 😂

peachgreen · 24/02/2020 11:56

Jumping out of a plane. I think the horror of it would probably kill me anyway to be honest.

Bakedpotatoandgin · 24/02/2020 11:57

Squeeze through a tiny rock tunnel. Or stay in a packed club without earplugs or friends for an hour

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 24/02/2020 11:57

I always think that aout the diving under water thing, I get short of breath just thinking about it!!

I also wouldn't be able to pull myself up to safety, I have no upper body strength at all and I'm very heavy. Grin

RickOShay · 24/02/2020 11:59

Reverse an articulated lorry.
Well maybe if I had about 6 hours.

Mulledwineinajug · 24/02/2020 11:59

Drive down the motorway.

Possibly cave diving. It is the stuff of nightmares.

Ilikewinter · 24/02/2020 12:00

Yep agrwe woth the puuling myself up amd diving.

I need to add to it though touching peoples manky FEET, cutting toe nails and dead skin, touching bunions....blurgh blurgh blurgh!!

QueenOfOversharing · 24/02/2020 12:00

@chugmonkey & @JustHereWithMyPopcorn omg - add that to my list. I'd be a goner! 😂

OP posts:
MashedPotatoBrainz · 24/02/2020 12:00

If the only way to safety is passing closely by a spider, I'm a gonner.

Minai · 24/02/2020 12:01

Reverse into a parking bay.

meredithgrey1 · 24/02/2020 12:01

A single sit up

QueenOfOversharing · 24/02/2020 12:02

@Ilikewinter FEET?? I mean, I don't like them & ive seen some gross ones (ex had feet like root ginger - all dry & twisted) 🤢 but I could give them a wee stroke. 😂

LilyJade · 24/02/2020 12:02

Run. Anywhere. I can walk fast, row, do weights, but I'm useless at running.

Frenchw1fe · 24/02/2020 12:03

Walking across canyons or on mountain paths, even with a harness. The thought turns my legs to jelly.
Eating insects or tripe, I'd never keep it down. My daughter ate a cooked fish eye for a bet.

QueenOfOversharing · 24/02/2020 12:04

@Bakedpotatoandgin oh the rock tunnel thing actually vividly reminds me of a bushtucker trial. Never! I used to have dreams where I was with other ppl & we had to go through some gaps & I knew I was too big to fit... never mind the claustrophobia

OP posts:
QueenOfOversharing · 24/02/2020 12:05

Imagine if all of us were a team who had to escape somewhere with all these challenges. Fuck it, I'd better bring biscuits.

OP posts:
Thelnebriati · 24/02/2020 12:05

Yes to diving underwater, and to letting go because my arms are feeble.

I wasn't going to post because mine isn't lighthearted but since you've all given me nightmares, its falling through the crust into molten lava. Would it be worse to pull your legs out and survive, or not?
I have so far managed to avoid finding out by not going near any volcanoes or lava beds.

raspberryk · 24/02/2020 12:06

Pull up/push up/monkey bars/ anything strength related.
Anything spider or insect related.

I could never squeeze through anything like tight caves as even if I could mould the fat through my hip bones are massive, I'm I flexible and too weak to pull myself through anything.
I'm slightly claustrophobic too.

Walnutwhipster · 24/02/2020 12:08

Anything involving rats. I have a phobia. I can't watch a tv programme if I think there may be one on or even read something if I know there's a photo of one on a different page. They absolutely terrify me.

QueenOfOversharing · 24/02/2020 12:08

@Thelnebriati sorry, I put lighthearted because I KNOW some miserable smart arse will come on & go "well, if your life actually depended on it, you wouldn't think about it like that"! 😂

Molten lava is one I'd avoid too - well done for that, thus far - it's making me think of Star Wars.

Walk across the glass bridge in China.

QueenOfOversharing · 24/02/2020 12:10

I think, given the number of strength related posts, we maybe should start a challenge to all improve this! You guys start, I'll catch up sit here eating all the fucking biscuits.

OP posts:
QueenOfOversharing · 24/02/2020 12:12

@Awwlookatmybabyspider nope! Didn't know there was one, never would cope. There's a tower in Chicago with these glass boxes that extend out past the wall, with glass bottoms too. I couldn't even go close to them.

OP posts:
FoxEars · 24/02/2020 12:12

This has all made me super anxious

I wouldn't be able to cope being with a room full of pythons

And breathe....

YesILikeItToo · 24/02/2020 12:13

Go to the loo outdoors. I just can’t perform behind a tree. Whatever the reasons for this, I would not expect the increased pressure to make things any better.
