LIGHTHEARTED

After commenting on another thread that my worst nightmare would be to have to dive underwater & resurface somewhere else. You always see it in films & they look like they’ll run out of air. Or they do it on Bushtucker Trials.

I can’t even watch it on tv / a film - gives me such anxiety. It is related to a PTSD issue, so that makes it maybe a bit more understandable, but I’m not sure I could do it, even if my life depended on it. Obviously, I’d have to try... 😬

What, if anything, would you struggle with?

I'd try anything, even shag my ex Grin or fight my way full a room full of wasps Shock

A press up. I get an inch from the floor and my arms give way. Please tell me that's normal.
I can pull myself out of a swimming pool o clearly my upper body strengrh isn't zero.
Plus as you've all said swimming into a tunnel with no air. I look at that sort of thing and my mind thinks watery grave. Particularly on films where they don't know what they'll find at the other end. There was a particularly chilling episode of scooby doo like this :)

I had a friend who, when alone, always carried her Yale key with the sharp bit sticking out through her fingers. Apparently it's quite a common defence thingy, if someone attacks you, you jab it in their eye.

I think I would rather die than stick a key in someone's eye. I might wish I had my key at the ready if it actually happened of course.

Clearing up anybody's vomit - just yeurggghhh!

Petrified of ever having to have an MRI scan - I know I would severely panic with claustrophobia - I even really dislike having to use lifts.

Even the glass floor on Tower Bridge made me feel ill - I had to walk around the sides (with great difficulty).

God yes all the climbing, diving and caving ones - uuurggh. I read about a pioneering cave diver in the early days who would just dive into water and see where he came up! If there was no way up he'd make his way back. I almost hyperventilate just thinking about that kind of thing. And the thought of squeezing through tiny spaces underground where you might get stuck.

And free solo climbing - I just do not understand how anyone can do it. I'd just freeze in terror and cry.

Oh yes and a press-up - literally cannot do even one. I blame my puny arms and generous arse. i did body pump (fitness class with weights) and I never got beyond the smallest weights, no matter how long I did it. My arms just say no :o

Mine is REALLY stupid.

You know those kids toys that are a picture divided into 9 squares and mixed up but one is blank/missing and you move the other 8 round until the picture is in the right place?

I CANNOT do them. Not even the ones designed for 5 year olds. I always joked that if I was on the Crystal Maze and it was one of those they could either let me out straight away or lock me in, because I can't do them.

HavenDilemma whats wrong with that one? There are a load of weird fears. Motorway driving is scary, and many people avoid it.

Measure pasta and spaghetti properly. I could feed an army with the amount I put in.

YES this as well! he worst part is that surely it wouldn't be that hard for me to work it out properly, find out what amount works and measure it properly. Yet somehow I never do. So when some Bond villain is ordering me to calculate dry pasta amounts correctly to save my life, I'll be shafted, but totally needlessly.

I also don't know how people eat live cockroaches etc. I would want to try, but I'd just gag and throw up.

When I read the question, I thought ‘Not Much’...

Turns out there’s a whole lot of shit I hadn’t considered! Thanks to you lot it’s a surprisingly LONG list now

Starting with, but not limited to...

Pot holing
Cave diving
Eating ANYTHING non vegetarian
(I know people say if your life depended on it... but I genuinely don’t think I could even eat something ‘normal’ (beef/chicken etc) let alone anything else.

Physically there’s quite a lot I can’t do niw, but would be fine doing if I physically could (Rock climbing ,rope walking (with a harness)...that type of thing.

Things I used to WANT to do, but think ‘WHY WOULD YOU?’ now, include parachuting, BASE jumping, etc

Touching/holding spiders, snakes etc doesn’t worry me.

@HebeMumsnet. 🤮🤮. I might have to adopt your cat!!

@BusterMove I'm sorry but, lighthearted intention not withstanding, driving down a motorway is anything BUT scary! All traffic is going in the same direction! Less chance of a head on collision due to the giant central reservation and you mostly stay in left lane (unless you choose to overtake or) at a steady speed (slowing for another car to enter) and that's literally IT! ☺️
Soo much safer than other roads if you keep enough braking distance between you & vehicle ahead.
What on Earth is scary about it??? I genuinely don't get that one??

I can't scream. Literally, my vocal cords 'seize up' and all I do is utter a strangled croak. So I'd be a goner in a dark alley faced with a monster.

@AmelieTaylor Nasty???? What??? For not understanding why something is scary? You're incredibly defensive. Are you ok?
