What 'adult' thing have you never done?

I have reached the grand old age of 53 and have never booked a holiday abroad. I wouldn't even know where to start! and I fancy a holiday but don't know how to do it Holidays have always been in the UK, camping when the DC were young and caravanning for the last 12 years. My last foreign trip was when I was 19 and DM booked it. I just had to give her the money for it.

Changed a tyre on a car.

I've done it all but not through choice...

Been able to look at a spider and not scream.

I have done pretty much everything above other than scuba diving or changed a wheel.

I don't fancy scuba diving - will happily snorkel though. Tyre/wheel - my most recent cars don't have a spare. I once had a flat and just called out the RAC. That's what I pay for..
Oh. I haven't been skiing. I think am too late to start in my fifties. I didn't fare well on roller skates so I ain't throwing myself down a mountain

Also never owned a credit card, got a loan, got a mortgage or been in debt.

Drunk coffee! I do like coffee chocolate though

Never been to a festival

Never poached an egg

Never been to a car wash

Never had my nails / fake tan done

Never been to the races

Never been to a baby shower

Never placed a bet

Never put up shelves
Never drank shots
Never changed a tyre on the car

@DorisDances I haven't seen Star Wars either! People can't understand it. That's not really an adult thing, people seem to be indoctrinated at a very young age.

I am absolutely excellent at being an adult, I was born 40. But I have never used a lawnmower or cooked a steak. I have always had a DP to do this for me. I also managed to live in a house for a year without cleaning the toilet, DP always would up doing it.

Should clarify that the reason I have never had a mortgage is I am poor and rent, not loaded and buying outright.

Never been married, or engaged. I don’t have kids. Don’t own my own home and I’ve never actually rented either. Never taken a flight alone? I’ve done most of the above!

Same as a lot of people it seems, I’ve never

• got married
• bought a house
• learnt to drive
• had a credit card
• taken out a loan
• had a ‘career’

Buy/own a car.
Going through relationship break-up (married to my first boyfriend still)
being financially independent on my own
fill tax return
set up business and have clients
go to beauty salons

I've never eaten an orange. I've never cooked Christmas dinner. Never done anything to my car except drive it and put petrol in it. I've never seen a single Star Wars film. Never worn a onesie.

I've never learned to drive a car (was advised not to, due to visual processing problems), and therefore haven't done the things associated with cars, such as changing a tyre or going though a car wash.

Never been camping or wished to.

Most forms of DIY.

@SpokeTooSoon - no prep needed for most meat - put oven on, put meat on oven tray, put in oven for the time required (just google it - or on packaging if supermarket-bought)

I've never been to a beauty salon, had pedicure/wax, trimmed my bikini line, had my hair dyed, worn foundation, fake tanned. Never been to Asia. Never eaten sushi. Haven't drunk alcohol since I've been an adult (though did try it a bit as a teen). Never been on a blind date or on a dating app. Never been on Facebook, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Instagram or any other social media except Mumsnet! Never been in a loft. Never performed CPR. Never fixed a puncture.

Not been on a plane on my own either

Never been married, bought a house, or had a child. I don't drive either.

But I left home very early, get on with life battling chronic illness, and I know how to budget so I can always have the wine. That's adulting enough for me ;)

You know what it would be quicker to list the adult stuff I have done

God, I wish I had the kind of life where I'd never had to take the bins out!

But I am failing in lots of other adult-y areas - I've never bought a house or a car, never had a baby (but have changed nappies), never cooked Christmas dinner or any sort of roast.

Owned a car.
That's one but I'm sure there are millions. I'm in my 40s but don't feel adult in the slightest (I definitely would like to).

I have never learnt to drive or got married

Done pretty much all these things apart from cook a live lobster. I have tossed crabs into boiling water but didn't feel very guilty about it as the evil sods had tried to take my fingers off.

I have never had an affair
(obviously that doesn't make 'an adult' but there seem to be plenty of adults who have)
