What 'adult' thing have you never done?

I have reached the grand old age of 53 and have never booked a holiday abroad. I wouldn't even know where to start! and I fancy a holiday but don't know how to do it Holidays have always been in the UK, camping when the DC were young and caravanning for the last 12 years. My last foreign trip was when I was 19 and DM booked it. I just had to give her the money for it.

I’ve never boiled an egg or baked a cake

PepeLePew · 23/02/2020 20:50

I’ve done all the above except drive anything apart from a car, and lay a carpet. I’ve taken one up, though. Oh, and take out a car loan (though I have bought a car).
And yet I don’t feel like an adult, even though the evidence suggests I am one.
Struggling to think of anything “adult” I haven’t done (not in the dodgy sense of “adult” Grin). The joys of being a home owning single parent with a house and no one to help with things like this, I guess.
I had never filled in a tax return until last year.

codenameduchess · 23/02/2020 20:54

Kept a plant alive, set up or switched energy providers, changed a tyre, bought a replacement bulb for my car, used a power tool or lawn mower, kept a plant alive or made a lasting friendship.

Until last week I'd never got a bus as an adult (or in the town I've lived in for the better part of a decade).

Sure there's plenty more, I'm not a successful adult despite being a parent 😂

IamPickleRick · 23/02/2020 20:54

Until last week I had never been in a car accident so had no idea how to do an insurance claim.

Never put up a shelf
Never done a multitude of diy things like use a pressure washer
Never hired builders or decorators (these things are coming up because I’m doing it for the first time and feel so out of my depth!)

Socalm · 23/02/2020 20:57

I have never had my garden landscaped or planted roses. I have never bought in bulk or used a family scheduling app. I have not yet written my will although I really should.

BoredOfTheBoard · 23/02/2020 20:57

Never been to a hen party and judging from some of the stories on here, I'm really grateful for that

Socalm · 23/02/2020 20:59

I've never been a bridesmaid either! I don't particularly mind though because it does not sound fun.

separatebeds · 23/02/2020 20:59

Never made a christmas cake or a christmas pudding

DorisDances · 23/02/2020 21:00

Seen Star Wars....

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 23/02/2020 21:01

Put air in my tyres. (Autocorrect made that ‘tyts’!).

I would have liked my tyts pumped up a bit when I was younger.

SpokeTooSoon · 23/02/2020 21:01

I’ve never roasted a chicken. I’ve bought chickens in ready to roast bags and popped them in the oven but I’ve never actually prepared one. Never roasted any other meat either.

Also never hosted Christmas.

I’m 41!

@TwoHeadedYellowBelliedHoleDig
Opening champagne/Prosecco. Hold the cork and turn the bottle, use a damp cloth In your hand to hold the cork and then turn the bottle.
I've never gutted a pheasant, I've gutted fish, they're easy but not a bird.

I’ve never cooked a roast dinner or held a dinner party either 😊 I don’t like cooking... And never had a child either!

TweetUsOnFacebook · 23/02/2020 21:02

Another dinner party pooper. My idea of hell! I do have people over but always do a buffet type spread.

Never had a manicure.

I've never sold a house

escape · 23/02/2020 21:03

Despite working in 'digital' - if something goes wrong with a TV or it needs connecting to something else, I act like my Nanna with a smartphone.

emmylousings · 23/02/2020 21:04

Changed a tire. I'm supposed to know how, but when it eventually happens and I need to - I'll be rubbish!
