What 'adult' thing have you never done?

I have reached the grand old age of 53 and have never booked a holiday abroad. I wouldn't even know where to start! and I fancy a holiday but don't know how to do it Holidays have always been in the UK, camping when the DC were young and caravanning for the last 12 years. My last foreign trip was when I was 19 and DM booked it. I just had to give her the money for it.

Learned to drive 😩

PenCreed · 23/02/2020 20:33

I'm never mowed the lawn, but then I get horrendous hay fever so DH does it. I do the other garden stuff.

I've never changed a nappy or done anything baby/child related other than chat to my friends' children occasionally.

onetimer · 23/02/2020 20:33

I'm 39 and have never driven a car.

Never used a lawnmower.

Been vegetarian since age 8 so have never eaten a Big Mac, never eaten a steak, never eaten a Nando's etc etc🤷🏻‍♀️

Bluetrews25 · 23/02/2020 20:34

Had a smart phone.

HerRoyalFattyness · 23/02/2020 20:35

I've never been abroad. Never even had a passport.
Never had a driving lesson.
Never bought a house.
Never had a dinner party
Never got married.
Never been to a spa.

I'm 28. So there's time I suppose.

user1471453601 · 23/02/2020 20:35

Among other things, I've never ridden a two wheeler bike. Mum's brother died after falling off his bike. He had a fractured skull and she was, understandably reluctant to let me try. So, at 70 years old, I've never felt the thrill of riding a two wheeler, though I've often thought about it

museumum · 23/02/2020 20:35

I’ve never taken a car for an mot.

jinglebitch · 23/02/2020 20:36

Had anything waxed.

Theroigne · 23/02/2020 20:36

Taken out an ISA (all savings go into our drawdown mortgage)
Filleted a fish (I don’t like much fish) or cooked a live lobster (I like lobster but don’t want to cook a live creature)

I’m struggling tbh to think of anything UNadult that I’ve done over the last twenty years. Apart from getting smashed on shots quite regularly. Perhaps there’s a connection...

Layoverlife · 23/02/2020 20:37

I've never been on a train Blush

JontyDoggle37 · 23/02/2020 20:38

Fucking hell. I’m an adult!
I have a full driving licence and drive an SUV, a van, a motorhome and a 7.5ton horsebox
I have dinner parties
I’ve bought 3, nearly 4 houses
I’ve had one child and changed a thousand nappies
I’ve changed job four times and started my own business
I’ve had loans, credit cards and mortgages
I know the ‘rules’ of all the above better, which I suppose increases confidence a bit, but it doesn’t mean I feel amazing about how ‘adult’ I am every day!

AlCalavicci · 23/02/2020 20:40

I have never learnt to drive .
Changed a nappy
Is hosting christmas classed as a dinner party ? if not I have never hosted a DP.
laid a carpet on my own .
Been in debt ( very glad I have not achieved that one )

I am a bit surprised at some pp ;
Never put the bins out , never changed a light bulb ordered a take away . ?
I am not saying they should of been done , just thought everyone would of done that kind of thing from been a older teenager .

ChasingRainbows19 · 23/02/2020 20:40

40
Not married my partner or had a baby ( but happy without both thanks!)
Ate oysters or caviarEnvy
Not learned to drive ( next year!)
Wallpapered a wall.

Pringlesonthetable · 23/02/2020 20:41

Actually thinking about it, I've not been on a train on my own. I do drive - go me! Grin I am married, I have kids they somehow made it to adulthood

OP posts:
Theroigne · 23/02/2020 20:42

Me neither @JontyDoggle37. I’m a bit amazed at what some people haven’t done and it’s never occurred to me that I might actually be seen as an adult for buying a house, holding dinner parties, raising kids or driving a car. I still feel 17 inside and no amount of ‘adulting’ in the world is going to change that... Grin

gracepoolesrum · 23/02/2020 20:42

Never been a bridesmaid! And unlikely to happen now at my age Grin Really used to bother me, it was a combination of small family & friendship group who are either unmarried or had small or unconventional weddings. Mostly over it now but still niggles me when I'm feeling fragile.

TalbotAMan · 23/02/2020 20:43

Never been to a professional sporting event or a music festival.
