We have been travelling for a few months and have just returned to our very quiet little town to discover the grade 4 teacher, Ms X, is having an affair with the mother of one of the children in the class.
It is now a very public affair. The female teacher wants to remain in her job. The mother of 4 that is in the relationship is OK about everything. The father of the 4 children is furious and legal action is pending.
What would you do? The child in the Gr 4 class is well aware of everything and the family is in a mess.
My dd is due to join this class very soon. The betrayal of trust is beyond belief. My dd has been at the school for 4 yrs and very happy.
The issue is ...my trust of the gr 4 teacher is shattered. The unions are suppporting her and she intends to stay....she is very cold and hard....I think I should be looking for a different school
xx

Shagging around - especially where there may be some Conflict of Interest, is practically in the JD in my field, where 'Recruitment Procedure' is commonly known as 'Casting Couch'.

ScottishMummy · 05/09/2007 13:04

ooo Blu - elaborate more please - not just a tantalising hint

heifer · 05/09/2007 13:09

not sure she is a troll tbh - she has posted before about her travelling etc..

Guess it could still be made up, but may not be so still worth a response..

Lulu - put the spray away or exchange for some deodrant girl....

lulumama · 05/09/2007 13:13

heifer...you get back to shagging the old gimmer

every other day

heifer · 05/09/2007 13:21

he should be so lucky! - have to tell him you said he is a old gimmer though... (is that a northern expression that I will have to learn)? or did you mean old timer?

ScottishMummy · 05/09/2007 13:23

LOL Gimmer sounds dirty, sounds raunchy - i love it

Blu · 05/09/2007 13:24

ScottishMummy - I work in the theatre. But have no celebrity gossip to spill. Not these days anyway.....and not about anyone famous. But once, I was on a panel deciding what funding should be given to which theatre companies. We had a Conflict of Interest code that DID specify 'sexual relationships' - and when one application came up, TWO differnt people had to leave the room while it was discussed, both having had a 'conflict of interest' with the director - and one of those people was me! In another meeting, one panel member had to leave the room twice, in respect of two separate applicants - and when I Chaired the panel I took the precaution on the morning of the second day of asking whether anyone had any new Conflicts on Interest to declare.

But the school gate is FAR more gosspiy!!

So...treating the whole thing seriously, of course the woman seems 'hard' - so would I if I had the village ranged up against me with flaming torches!

lulumama · 05/09/2007 13:26

dunno, i learnt gimmer here , aswell as norks and fanjo!

i cannot wait to meet your DH heifer, he must be a very special man

to take you on!

hark at me being all controversial..am giddy as DS at school, DD asleep and i have no-one bothering me with questions or requests for food!

zippitippitoes · 05/09/2007 13:26

ooh is that why councillors in planning meetings leave the chmaber when they declare a conflict of interest didn't realise the interest was sex

lou33 · 05/09/2007 13:27

i saw the word norks used in scarlet mag today, wonder if it's a netter who wrote the story?

heifer · 05/09/2007 13:30

tis banter lulu, not controversy

yes my DH is very special, and lucky of course...

ScottishMummy · 05/09/2007 13:31

i nearly wrote a correction but then hoped no one would notice

duchesse · 05/09/2007 13:47
  1. Her personal life should have no bearing whatsoever on how she teaches your child.

  2. Her personal life is none of your business

  3. The mother of 4's personal life is none of your business.

End of.

YABU.

Blandmum · 05/09/2007 13:51

None of this is any of your buisness, unless they teacher makes it an issue in some way for the class.

What next, I saw my child's teacher drinking alcohol in ythe pub, should she be sacked?

My dc's teacher has a child out of wedlock, how small should the stones be?

YABU

It may not make her a nice person (having affaire not being gay iyswim) and you might not wish to socialise with her, but it has no impact on her teaching abilities.

TellusMater · 05/09/2007 13:57

Actually, I think it is out of order to have an affair with the parent of a child in your class. It must put the poor child in a very difficult position, especially if their parent's maariage has broken up because of it.

If you are not actually teaching the children involved, it is different.

But I do agree it is none of the OP's business.

Blandmum · 05/09/2007 14:01

I agree, with a child's parent, when you teach the child...it is out of order.

Rather like teaching your own child, you'd have to put some boundaries in place , I think.

But it isn't the OP's buisness.

I am reminded of the time when Married women were not allowed to teach.....they had S.E.X after all, and what role model did that set the kids!

While it might very well mess up the kids who are directly involved, the same is true of any affair.

LIZS · 05/09/2007 14:15

so does the OP think it is OK or not ? The title seems contrary to the opening post. If she isn't teaching the chidlren of the family now, which I'd suggest would be questionable in the same way as teaching your own, then officially neither her sexuality or her tangled love life are your concern. Unless you think she'll go looking for a new lover among her next batch of female parents ?

TellusMater · 05/09/2007 14:20

Actually, the OP says that one of the children involved is in Grade 4, and it is a Grade 4 teacher.

I think it is unprofessional.

Clearly I am in a minority

LIZS · 05/09/2007 14:22

Doesn't say where in the world either . Either they have just moved up and created this situtation or the year is concluding at Chrostmas , so short term.
