www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8022887/Home-Secretary-Priti-Patel-accused-bullying-creating-atmosphere-fear.html

Daily Mail link, but I'm listening to it on BBC Radio 5. It sounds as if Priti Patel is facing lots of complaints because of the way she treats people. Combine that with her politics, and she just doesn't come across very pleasantly. Can she last in her job treating people like this (assuming it is true).

She inspires feelings if such anger in me, and what is with that constant smirk?

Onetwothreeeee · 22/02/2020 17:17

I’ve never met a nice Labour voter so...

luckylavender · 22/02/2020 17:27

She's already lost a Cabinet post once but came back to a bigger one. See also Gavin Williamson.

Saucery · 22/02/2020 17:38

Ken Clarke was a huge supporter of BAT too.

She’s a bit grasping and second rate but then so are the majority of the current cabinet.

CarolinaPink · 22/02/2020 17:50

Hello? She’s a Tory.

You're aged 3, right? Confused

Roussette · 22/02/2020 18:11

I’ve never met a nice Labour voter so...

What a silly statement that is. Nothing like saying millions of people aren't nice.

missyB1 · 22/02/2020 18:12

Between her Cummings and Bojo we are literally fucked! These people are dangerous, and we shouldn’t underestimate the damage they can do. Look at how Jeremy Cunt fucked over the NHS (and particularly the junior doctors). Our Country is being destroyed by total bloody idiots who don’t have a clue what they are doing and don’t care anyway.

Alsohuman · 22/02/2020 18:34

I don’t think we’re literally fucked!

longwayoff · 22/02/2020 18:56

Fair assessment OP. She's not alone though, it's a government of the Not Very Nice. Just as well it's not a requirement.

Floribundance · 22/02/2020 19:20

’I don’t think we’re literally fucked!’

Boris is doing his best ...

The Guardian article makes reference to her permanently smirking face......

TheValeyard · 23/02/2020 01:23

She's the perfect Tory Home Sec - nasty, arrogant and thick as mince.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 23/02/2020 01:41

I think she is future PM material.

Christ Almighty That really would be the day I'd go and claim political asylum somewhere.

GrimDamnFanjo · 23/02/2020 01:41

I think loads of Ministers are "not nice" to their civil servants. I used to hear lots about tempers and rudeness.
Nice ones were not very common. Hague was apparently nice when a DWP minister years ago. Would personally thank staff.

raskolnikova · 23/02/2020 04:31

Told this story before but she told my husband that people on NMW are lazy and dont want to work

Please note she wasn’t talking about the economically inactive or unemployed or part time or anything else

Just people on NMW

That's not surprising considering she co-wrote a book on how idle British workers are, which stated that 'Whereas Indian children aspire to be doctors or businessmen, the British are more interested in football and pop music.'

BigChocFrenzy · 23/02/2020 07:20

As with people in business, those in politics who bully their staff are natural bullies at home too and / or are trying to distract from their own incompetence and / or villainy.

When it comes to politicians, it seems that civil servants are deprived of the normal employment rights against bullying
That's oppressive, but all civil servants can do is quit

Cummings is another who has been repeatedly criticised for outrageous of bullying his staff
So it's not just because Patel has no penis.

BigChocFrenzy · 23/02/2020 07:21

Priti Patel has something unusual in common with BJ:
both have been sacked for dishonesty

In business, that's usually a career killer, which often makes you unemployable,
but in this government it appears to be a career asset

Polkagirls · 23/02/2020 08:45

Effective leadership requires taking people with you and also making most of their skills. Ignoring advice from experienced civil servants sounds like a recipe for disaster.

longwayoff · 23/02/2020 09:23

Future PM??? Even though we appear to have collectively chucked our brains out of the window where politics are concerned surely we'll never be reduced to this? She was will overstep the mark at some point, hopefully in the near future.

Frazzled2207 · 23/02/2020 11:19

Well our current PM has previously been sacked for dishonesty so nothing surprises me any more.

I do think Dominic Cummings is the bigger problem though.

LadyMadderRose · 23/02/2020 12:04

The whole thing is more Orwellian than Orwell and more Thick of It than Thick of It. Especially Cummings, it's really as if Armando Iannucci made him up.

Frazzled2207 · 23/02/2020 12:21

There is an article about PP in the daily fail today. Reading the comments everyone thinks she's marvellousShock

Alsohuman · 23/02/2020 12:44

And that’s the truly frightening thing, this country seems to moving further to the right every day.

HenHarrier · 23/02/2020 13:26

Whereas Indian children aspire to be doctors or businessmen

What she means is that the children of middle class and wealthy Indian parents (and particularly migrants to other countries) aspire for their children to doctors or businessmen.

Perhaps Priti Vacant doesn’t know or care that less than half of children in India between the age 6 and 14 actually get a chance to go to school.

BreakWindandFire · 23/02/2020 14:09

When I hear of Priti Patel abusing verbally civil servants (and ditto John Bercow), I think of people who are rude to waiting staff - they do it because they can't answer back in kind.
