To have complained to Uber Eats

Ordered a meal for me and the DCs, we've all got stinking colds and have been hunkered down all day.

The driver is assigned: it's a female name and they're on a bike

Ten minutes later (not concerned about this aspect, quick) my food arrives, delivered by a man in a car. No sign of this female anywhere.

I normally tip generously and give good feedback but this time I did neither and actually complained that the driver wasn't who they said they were. AIBU to have done this?

It’s probably the partner of the woman doing her shifts for her.

But YANBU to complain, there must be contracts in place for GDPR etc preventing this.

MiniGuinness · 19/02/2020 16:59

Are you concerned from a safety aspect? If so I think you should let them know.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 19/02/2020 17:01

I don't understand why it matters?

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 19/02/2020 17:01

Eh? I really, really could not get wound up about this! I’d eat my food and get on with my day!

YABVU!

imaflutteringkite · 19/02/2020 17:03

Why does it make a difference to you who delivers it? A female on a bike or a man in a car, you got the food you ordered. I can't see the problem.

xTinkerhellx · 19/02/2020 17:03

But it didn't actually say it was a female? Just a female sounding name?

So could have been a man with a female sounding name who got a lift rather than bike it?

Your complaint is potentially based upon the fact that the drivers name wasn't suitably stereotypically gendered for you and their vehicle had more wheels than you would like.

gallgal · 19/02/2020 17:05

It was the safety aspect that occurred to me @miniguinness

PumpkinP · 19/02/2020 17:06

I’ve had delivery drivers changed before,
Are you sure it wasn’t just that. Either way I couldn’t care less and barely notice who delivers my food anyway!

gallgal · 19/02/2020 17:07

It was a female name: Khadija, and the picture was of a woman in a hijab, so yes, definitely female! Grin

I don't care if Khadija or Dennis or Pierre delivers my UberEats, but I expect to open the door to the person in the picture

HotDogGuy · 19/02/2020 17:08

I’m struggling to see what the gender of the person delivering food has to do with your safety.
I could understand if you wanted a female driver to take you somewhere and didn’t feel safe with a man.

fluffyblackcloud · 19/02/2020 17:09

Honestly find this bizarre and not sure it's even real

CoffeeRunner · 19/02/2020 17:09

You complained that their vehicle had more wheels than you would like.

Christ on a bike (or in a taxi) how bizarre.

You ordered food. The food arrived. YABVU.

gallgal · 19/02/2020 17:09

It's 100% real

OP posts:
SeagullSamba · 19/02/2020 17:09

Was it definitely a female name? I’ve turned up expecting to meet with women called Nicola and Carol before, only to find they’re male and I was being Anglocentric.

fluffyblackcloud · 19/02/2020 17:10

And so what if it was a woman who maybe her sent her bf, maybe she felt unwell and he was helping her out.. so what!! Did he threaten you? No he delivered you the food you ordered. Seriously get a grip.

PumpkinP · 19/02/2020 17:10

does it really matter? You don’t get to choose who delivers your food anyway.

IndianaMoleWoman · 19/02/2020 17:10

I’ve had the exact opposite from Uber Eats, picture of a man/man’s name but actually delivered by a woman. As long as my McNuggets arrive I couldn’t care less.

gallgal · 19/02/2020 17:10

I'm not angry. I haven't had a go at anybody. Just not tipped and pointed out the wrong delivery person/vehicle to Uber Eats

OP posts:
DuchessOfBeddington · 19/02/2020 17:10

This has happened to me, wasn’t that bothered but the guy apologised on arrival and said he was delivering on his wife’s account. Fair enough.

However, isn’t that one of the reasons why Uber (the cars) lost their licence in a London, as many drivers were allowing others to use their accounts and therefore uninsured. Is it a safety concern to not know who’s driving? You could make the same agreement for home deliveries as well.

whiplashy · 19/02/2020 17:10

huh?!

fluffyblackcloud · 19/02/2020 17:11

So so so many issues in the world and problems and you felt the need to post a thread because your food was handed to you by a man rather than a woman. Good lord

SuddenArborealStop · 19/02/2020 17:12

I have never had the driver or vehicle match... I assumez whole families are working shifts under the one employee and uber eats don't care.
As for safety I never knew who was coming from the local takeaway when I rang so its not that different now. Saying that though I would like them to match and if I got in an actual uber and the photo didn't match I'd get out immediately.

gallgal · 19/02/2020 17:13

Would you prefer me to post about my recent bereavement instead @fluffy?

OP posts:
Reallybadidea · 19/02/2020 17:15

But why does it matter if the person you open the door to isn't the person you were expecting? Why is that a safety risk. I don't geddit.

JosefKeller · 19/02/2020 17:17

I love MN

Just when you thought we had been round everything you could be offended about, another genius complaint pops up.
