AIBU to feel that it's insensitive for Westminster Abby to ring it's bells to celebrate Andrew's 60th?

I don’t understand what Mookie is on about. Has she seen the traffic round here?

messolini9 · 19/02/2020 14:48

Being Royal. Which means not giving a flying fuck what you. Or I. Or indeed anyone in the world thinks.

Who hurt you and why have you come online to be a mean girl.

Serendipity doesn't need me to articulate for her, so this is speaking for myself - but "who hurt me" @Nippybutsweet?

The Feudal system, of which the Royal family is a remnant.
Why would I give a flying fuck about people who 1) I don't know & 2) who got obscenely wealthy on the beaten backs of the oppessed masses & 3) don't give a fuck about me or my ilk?

SerendipityJane · 19/02/2020 14:48

Well that's todays comprehension test set Grin.

All answers before 5pm will be marked Smile

messolini9 · 19/02/2020 14:49

oppressed You see, if I'd attended Gordonstoun, I'd know how to spell oppressed first-off.

drina27 · 19/02/2020 14:49

The Queen is NOT coming out of this whole situation at all well

She is doing better in stamping on the Harry and Meghan plans.

Lllot5 · 19/02/2020 14:49

He hasn’t been charged let alone found guilty of anything.
It may be a bit odd to ring bells on his birthday but if that’s what ordinarily happens then go ahead.

Nippybutsweet · 19/02/2020 14:50

@ilovesooty

^Being Royal. Which means not giving a flying fuck what you. Or I. Or indeed anyone in the world thinks.

I would say you should try it sometime, but it turns out you can't.^

Yes i believe she was.

SerendipityJane

Are you a teacher? If so, your language is deplorable.

halcyondays · 19/02/2020 14:52

Normally councils would have flown flags to mark the birthday but lots of them have decided not to.

messolini9 · 19/02/2020 14:53

She was, insinuating I'm incapable of controlling my own emotions or thoughts regarding what I give a "flying fuck" about.

Was she @Nippybutsweet? Must profess myself startled by that - I have read Serendipity's post 3 times now & can find nothing that suggests anything of the kind.

All I can deduce is that you may have mistaken her phrase "Turns out you can't" to be in some way aimed in your direction (altho' I can't perceive WHY you would think that?) when in fact it's a dry joke aimed at us Commoners' inability to try being Royal.

ilovesooty · 19/02/2020 14:53

Oh well @Nippybutsweet. I beg to disagree with you and it seems I'm not the only one.

7thlevelofthecandycaneforest · 19/02/2020 14:54

He has already been stripped of his royal title. He hasn’t been found guilty of anything. I cannot help but see a resemblance between his case and Caroline Flack. The media and public need to let the authorities do their job, no matter how guilty they think they are. The Queen is well within her rights to celebrate her sons birthday.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/02/2020 14:55

@SerendipityJane was being funny. Which I firmly believe she was.

This is what happens when some people are more special than others because of an accident of birth. You get the repulsive, slimy sex offender types along with the cold, distant, grumpy ones.

We could try electing people on merit but we seem piss poor at that as well.

SerendipityJane · 19/02/2020 14:55
Grin

messolini9 has picked up what I was - apparently clumsily - trying to say. Not much more to add, really.

ilovesooty · 19/02/2020 14:55

@drina27 you mean teachers can't say fuck? Shock

messolini9 · 19/02/2020 14:56

Are you a teacher? If so, your language is deplorable.

Grin Grin Grin What?!!
I'm not a teacher, so am assuming my fucking dreadful language is deemed acceptable.

messolini9 · 19/02/2020 14:57

Grin !!!!

profanitiesatthedinnertable · 19/02/2020 14:58

Get rid of this family. Useless fucking......

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/02/2020 14:58

I'm not a teacher, so am assuming my fucking dreadful language is deemed acceptable.

Is it only teachers? My nurse friends swear like sailors on shore leave. Actually worse. There's a few Naval types in the family and the nurses are much more sweary.

TheQueef · 19/02/2020 14:59

It's ok Drina this is AIBU not a worksheet for Y5.

Anyway.

The RF know the public dislike to see excess and with the allegations against Andy especially now.
They also know if they cancel anything the Media will have a field day reading into it.

The public are the expendable ones.

ilovesooty · 19/02/2020 14:59

I'm not a teacher any more. I assume that I can say fuck? Grin

Nippybutsweet · 19/02/2020 15:00

@messolini9

I'm in no doubt you can't percieve it from your comment but I can and that is what matters to me.

OP posts:
TheQueef · 19/02/2020 15:01

I feel obliged to say I am also Not a Teacher.

WickedCrown · 19/02/2020 15:02

The royal family's social media posts today for Prince Andrew were very ill judged. As they may realise from the public response. They should have just let the day pass without comment.

messolini9 · 19/02/2020 15:03

@MrsTerryPratchett - maybe there should be some sort of scales-&-grades swearing regime. Obvs. nurses get to run with the worst profanities, closely followed by sailors. I imagine those good folk at Viz might make able administrators of such a system.
