AIBU to feel that it's insensitive for Westminster Abby to ring it's bells to celebrate Andrew's 60th?

1forsorrow

Be careful what you are suggesting about me. I'm prepared to go to law even if Prince Andrew isn't.

Someone's a little bit 'up themself'... LOL.

Therebythedoor · 20/02/2020 07:41

Or is it 'up theirself'?

drspouse · 20/02/2020 08:03

Up oneself.
Up ourself.

LaurieMarlow · 20/02/2020 08:10

So 1forsorrow is threatening to sue posters now GrinGrinGrin

I had heard Fergie is a MNetter.

allthingsred · 20/02/2020 08:25

PA is a complete idiot. With the worst taste in friends. But he has not been charged with anything. It's all been done via media & we have all seen where this can lead
He is never going to be poor & destitute but he has lost his job, titles, friends, respect of everyone & he's completely humiliated his poor daughters there's not much else he can lose now. Esp remembering he hasn't been charged with anything.
I don't particularly care if church bells are rung or his ex says happy bday on twitter
It has no effect on my life whatsoever

LeMaFe · 20/02/2020 08:40

I don’t know about misogyny but there is certainly misandry.

I’d say it was more a matter misAndy than misandry and quite right too. He is loathsome.

mindproject · 20/02/2020 08:55

But he has not been charged with anything. It's all been done via media

Prince Andrew put himself on TV for media scrutiny. It's all his own doing. He chose to lie to everyone. He has chosen that the police don't investigate this, which is completely wrong and the reason so many people are angry. Most people don't get to chose whether we are investigated or not. He may be stupid, but in law stupidity is not a defence for wrongdoing.

Howmuchshouldwetipthem · 20/02/2020 08:56

Also, Fergie tweeting a happy birthday too, I just feel really u easy about the whole celebrating and marking it in such a public way.
Maybe the Westminster bells shouldn't have tolled but there isn't anything wrong with a tweet saying happy birthday from a dear ex/friend.

I thought the Royal Family Instagram post about him was misjudged
I can't see what is wrong with the royal family's photos or them wishing Prince Andrew a happy birthday. He is their son, after all.

I hope he had a happy birthday, just as I hope he will be contacted by the FBI and give them an interview and be asked and answer comprehensive questions about the Epstein case honestly.

Alsohuman · 20/02/2020 09:02

He has chosen that the police don't investigate this

This is possibly the most ridiculous thing on this thread and that’s saying something. There’s no way, however royal he is, that he gets to choose what the police do or don’t investigate. In this country there’s nothing to investigate, however morally dubious his behaviour, there’s no evidence it was illegal. He’s obviously not being pursued particularly vigorously by the US legal system.

Meanwhile an American woman who killed a young man ran away to the US and is being protected by its government and ours. Maybe we’d do better to froth about that because I’m furious about it.

Twuntsrule · 20/02/2020 15:31

Seems like a formal royal/Weight Watchers spokesperson has her knickers in a twist. Always the poor relation, eh?

Bluerussian · 20/02/2020 17:06

Howmuchshouldwetipthem - excellent post from you a few posts above this.

SussexRoyalties · 21/02/2020 11:15

What do you mean by that twuntsrule?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 21/02/2020 13:10

This is possibly the most ridiculous thing on this thread and that’s saying something. There’s no way, however royal he is, that he gets to choose what the police do or don’t investigate.

Do you genuinely believe that that's what would happen in practice, though? IF the Queen had committed an appalling crime, do you honestly think that anybody in the police would put their head above the parapet and pursue it? Really? And PA is one of her own.

I thought the same thing about the inquiry into Diana's death, where some people were accusing Prince Philip of having been culpable. It was officially found that he wasn't involved, of course - but IF he had been found to have single-handedly planned and executed the whole thing himself, would YOU have been personally willing to go public with it? The police, however high-ranking, are just people too.

Gently advising PP to stop driving at his great age following a relatively minor car accident is one thing, but IF he had done something truly despicable and far-reaching....

Bluerussian · 21/02/2020 15:32

I thought it was the FBI who are going to question Andrew. I wonder if and when they'll get round to him, they must have so many others, far more involved with Epstein, to talk to. It would help the British public if it could be done soon though so that no one can berate him for 'not co-operating', at least then it will be out of the way.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 21/02/2020 15:43

It probably was the FBI, but even then, the power and influence of the British monarchy spans the globe. The Queen is the legal owner of one sixth of the land on the surface of the entire planet.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/02/2020 19:39

It would help the British public if (the FBI questioning) could be done soon though so that no one can berate him for 'not co-operating', at least then it will be out of the way

Given that Andrew told us his only fault was "being too honourable", it's surprising he doesn't seem to see it the same way
We're all different of course, but if I was subject to this public opprobrium and knew I'd genuinely done nothing wrong, I'd be offering whatever I could to help clear it up

PeakingDuck · 21/02/2020 20:03

She was, insinuating I'm incapable of controlling my own emotions or thoughts regarding what I give a "flying fuck" about

You are barking OP.

katy1213 · 21/02/2020 20:10

The school bus that was circling Buckingham Palace today was hilarious - if they're ringing bells at Westminster Abbey, I hope they take it for a spin again!
Bells to celebrate the birth of that freeloading nonentity! No matter what else he's done.

Bluerussian · 22/02/2020 21:24

I don't know what to think about any of this any more. The sooner he gets the FBI interview out of the way, the better, he is relatively unimportant to them in this scenario but as his name has emerged so prominently they could give him some priority.

mindproject · 22/02/2020 22:07

Prince Andrew was also friends with Peter Nygard. So that's at least 3 paedophile, child-trafficking friends. Birds of a feather. Bluerussian - what are your instincts telling you about Prince Andrew?

LaurieMarlow · 22/02/2020 23:03

I’m confused by the mixed messages. Whoever is funding the bus is suggesting he isn’t cooperating, but the palace is adamant he hasn’t been asked. I don’t know what to believe.

mindproject · 23/02/2020 11:25

The main thing to know is that they're all in it together and they all know it goes on or are involved - the FBI, CIA, the Royal Family, the top echelons or our police force, politicians, the Church of England, the Vatican, Hollywood etc. Lower down the pyramid we have the Freemasons. It's all corrupt.

Snowdropsdelight · 23/02/2020 11:32

The bus stunt was brilliant.

Today a highly thought of police officer stationed at bucks House has said pa was rude and he distinctly remembers his re entry to bucks house on the evening in question, disgusted they had closed the gates pa was shouting abuse at guards over pa system until gates were opened.

.....
Me?

I have no instincts about him at all.

We can all be superficially friendly with people and have no idea what dark things they may be up to. It must come as quite a shock to find out (someone I know had a colleague who was done for internet kiddy porn, everyone in the company was in shock, he was so popular. At first they thought it must be a mistake - then it was proved and he admitted it).

Let's wait and see what comes out when the investigations into Epstein are completed.

TheNavigator · 25/02/2020 19:28

I think 'internet kiddy porn' is a pretty offensive way to refer to images of child sexual abuse - very belittling.

Anyway, PA did know what his sleazy pal was up to - he went to stay with him after he was convicted.
