Just that. Do you believe in Heaven? If so what do you think it’s like. Im not religious but do believe there is a Heaven or would like to believe there some place we will see loved ones again and find peace ourselves.

I'm not religious and did not grow up with religion ( I'm not christened nor are my children)
I went on a course ran by my local church which ran for a good 10 weeks . It covered quite a bit of the bible but also have us time to ask questions.
One question I asked was about heaven and would we be reunited with our lives ones. The answer I had was we do go to heaven and the people we loved would be there, but , we would not acknowledge them and likewise them us because we are their to exalt and praise God . I wasn't really happy to think that

ViciousJackdaw · 16/02/2020 20:02

Heaven is just a social construct, designed to keep the proles in line. Behave yourself and you'll go to heaven. This life a bit shit? Well don't worry, you're going to heaven in the next life so chin up, eh.

I highly doubt I will see my loved ones again, unless it was a hallucination caused by end-of-life strength opiates.

TheSandman · 16/02/2020 20:02

No. Dead is dead. We're compost. Your belief in heaven is an unwillingness to face the fact that the world was here before you were and will be here long after you're dead. In a hundred years no one will know (or care) you (or I) even existed.

Scary isn't it?

Dipi79 · 16/02/2020 20:03

Yeah, I believe in heaven.

user18463585026 · 16/02/2020 20:05

No.

Belindabelle · 16/02/2020 20:09

No. I sometimes wish I did believe but I truly think that when you die that is it. You cease to exist.

jenthelibrarian · 16/02/2020 20:09

Nope.

1066vegan · 16/02/2020 20:13

No.

Hundreds of years ago the Bible was seen as the literal word of God. Every time science proves part of it to be impossible, the Church seems to change that part to be symbolic. At one time Heaven was thought to be a literal place in the sky. I'm not sure where Christians believe Heaven to be now. In another dimension maybe.

I don't see how any such place as Heaven could exist. Once you're dead you're dead, your body decomposes and the atoms that made you become part of something new. So in a way you get to live on but you won't know how.

PooWillyBumBum · 16/02/2020 20:14

No, it’s wishful thinking.

SoftBlocks · 16/02/2020 20:17

No.

MonnaLIza · 16/02/2020 20:19

Oh Heaven is a place on Earth!

StoneofDestiny · 16/02/2020 20:23

Can't see why Heaven is any less believable than alien life, ghosts or reincarnation. (Though I only believe in two of these)

AgeLikeWine · 16/02/2020 20:24

No, of course not.

I do believe in hell, though. It’s being stuck on a filthy stinking trawler in the middle of the North Sea, in a force 10 storm, in the freezing cold in the middle of the night, being forced to listen to ‘My heart will go on’ on repeat, forever. Grin

TheFaerieQueene · 16/02/2020 20:27

No

Obsidian77 · 16/02/2020 20:28

No

ParkheadParadise · 16/02/2020 20:29

Yes I believe in heaven

I believe when my time comes I will be reunited with my dd in heaven. I also believe that she is in heaven and at peace with my mum and dad.

dimdarkashian · 16/02/2020 20:32

Nope

StoneofDestiny · 16/02/2020 20:32

ParkheadParadise

I think you will too.

KirstyHasLeft · 16/02/2020 20:32

I believe in reincarnation.
Heaven as such - no. But a place where we go in-between lives - yes :)

Bouncebacker · 16/02/2020 20:34

No. structured religion is a control mechanism where those in power get the behaviour / money / power they want from others by promising that if you are ‘good’ and conform that something awesome will happen when you die. When you die, you are dead and I think living your life on a promise of what will happen when you die is a waste

KirstyHasLeft · 16/02/2020 20:34

Look up Richard Martini - he is doing research about afterlife. Sounds crazy but he is an absolutely normal guy :)

MrsTumbletap · 16/02/2020 20:36

No.

I wish I did, but it wouldn't make sense, it's not scientific, it's just hopeful.

Lexplorer · 16/02/2020 20:37

I just googled heaven and the first hit was 'The world's most famous gay night club'. I'm happy with that.

ChazP · 16/02/2020 20:37

No. I sometimes wish I did. I think it would give me such comfort to think my mum is somewhere looking down on us. But sadly, I’m very strongly of the belief that when you die, that’s it.

Stompythedinosaur · 16/02/2020 20:37

I think I believe in something after death, but not heaven. I quite like the idea of Valhalla!
