Ok. Just got lip fillers. Yesterday. Are they as bad as I think they are. To me they look deformed! Covered bruises with lipstick....

I’m not at all ashamed of it, I’m talking about the self satisfied glee where people against lip fillers say “well I can always tell!” in triumph.

Firstly, they couldn’t possibly know unless they ask every person they meet and secondly even if they can tell- so what?! You can usually tell boob jobs, Doesnt mean it can’t look good

thenightsky · 15/02/2020 21:44

damnthatanxiety If I could guarantee I'd look like that, I'd do it.

Lifeasweknow · 15/02/2020 21:49

I got fillers because I had absolutely no top lip. It gave me much more confidence and i dont particularly care what people think about them. I don't think they look ridiculous or over done. Its true that some can look silly and that is usually because they've had a crazy amount of filler or a bad practitioner.

OP yours look fine for being freshly done. Give it a week or two and if you're not happy, have them dissolved.

Well I can't speak for everyone just me & as I said upthread I think they can look weird in motion & I don't particularly like the big inflated ones. There's nothing gleeful about it & some people definitely look better with a little bit. I also think thin lips can look nice like Kate Middleton for example.

I was going to use the boob analogy, in most cases you can tell, particularly the skimpier the clothing. If people who have them say "you can't tell", "no one guesses", people are going to contradict that.

DollyDaydream70 · 15/02/2020 22:08

I've seen MUCH worse, they look ok to me.

Russellbrandshair · 15/02/2020 22:15

@Lifeasweknow
Your lips look lovely!

Lifeasweknow · 15/02/2020 22:17

Thanks. They've really made me feel much more confident. It may sound silly to some but it's made a huge difference for me.

Lip filler aftercare tip #1: Don’t expect initial fullness to stay the same.
Swelling after lip filler treatment is completely normal and therefore the size of your lips immediately after treatment is not a true reflection of the final result. Minor swelling can last between a few hours or day, possibly longer, depending on multiple factors.
Lip filler aftercare #2: How to reduce swelling after lip fillers.
Be sure to follow the specific guidelines of your Cosmetic injector following your treatment.
• Apply ice to treated area
• Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water
• Focus on eating healthy foods like fresh fruits & vegetables. The vitamins and minerals will assist with the healing process
• Avoid strenuous exercise and extreme hot temperatures for 24-48 hours post treatment
Avoid:
• Processed foods or fast foods
• Heavy activity or exercise for the first two days after treatment
• Excess salt – it makes you dehydrated!
• Spicy foods
• Blood-thinning medications, including aspirin and ibuprofen (unless prescribed by your medical practitioner then please continue with these)
• Smoking and smoke exposure

Not silly at all, it’s remarkable how a small tweak can give you so much more confidence Smile

DowntownAbby · 15/02/2020 22:30

Why would you?

They always, always look fake and, frankly, wank.

Marge Simpson style.

Moomin8 · 15/02/2020 22:45

Op, they look fine. They will settle down too. I've had mine done lots of times and they take a few days to settle.

To people saying they can always tell, you probably don't assume it if it looks natural and some do.

Redland12 · 15/02/2020 22:51

They look fine, I have mine done but only .05 filler, I am so happy with mine every time, yours will go down, give it a few days, no don’t massage them. You’ll be pleased with them. When I apply lipstick I’m so pleased they look natural. It’s so different now they’ve pretty much perfected it,

Nightscroller1 · 15/02/2020 22:52

Totally normal when I got mine done they were exactly the same as yours OP - took over a week for the bruising to go. Anti hystrmine tablets, paracetamol and arnica. My doctor said there are 3 stages: 1st stage oh sh*t what have I done, 2nd stage you like them 3rd they've completely healed and went to their normal size and you want them as they were at the 2nd point!

mnthrowaway202020 · 15/02/2020 22:59

In my experience it takes at least 2 weeks for the swelling to pass - yes, you’ll be over the majority of the swelling in a few days, but your lips will still look different each day during the first two weeks as the residual swelling subsides. In fact they’ll gradually look slightly different for the first month at least - it’s not just the lips but the tissue surrounding them too.

DON’T massage them now! You haven’t given them enough time to heal and I would be worried about pushing the filler in an unflattering position or worse, forcing the filler into the adjacent tissue and getting a duck lip. You need to follow the instructions given by your practitioner.

As far as aesthetics, I think your mouth looks a bit down turned and your top lip looks a bit odd - like your Cupid’s bow looks wide? However this could be the swelling/makeup

Chouxalacreme · 15/02/2020 23:10

Oh I know I’ll get shot for this but it makes me feel a little sad inside . You’re beautiful just the way you are please don’t do this to yourselves .
Please don’t mess with your faces .

Poetryinaction · 15/02/2020 23:31

The top ones loom too big but they don't look awful. Maybe it is a shock as it is a change. We don't know what you normally look like.

No flames at all. You’re perfectly entitled to your opinion of lip fillers. However, I really don’t get posts like this- telling people who love lip fillers (like me) to “stop” it. Why should I? Why should I stop doing something I love because a stranger on the internet disapproves? I’m not hurting anyone, it’s not illegal, and it’s my choice what to do with my money and face. If you don’t like it- that’s fine, I might not like the way you look or dress either, but if you think I’m going to stop doing something just because a random stranger on the internet tells me to- well, that’s a bit delusional in my opinion.
