Ok. Just got lip fillers. Yesterday. Are they as bad as I think they are. To me they look deformed! Covered bruises with lipstick....

I see what you mean, the top lip doesn’t look right at all but then again it is swollen. I would just wait until you know the end result before getting worried over it.

jeremypaxo · 15/02/2020 12:20

Ignore the bitchy comments. We all do things on impulse (Terrible Fringe of 2001 I'm looking at you). Lip fillers should not be available on a whim IMO but that's a separate conversation.

I agree they will probably look different after the swelling goes down. Give it a few days. Perhaps an ice cold flannel on them will help give short term relief?

MimiLaRue · 15/02/2020 12:20

Its unkind. What on earth is the point in lecturing and scolding someone about a choice they've already made. Its too late now and its her body and her choice. We make millions of choices every day that are detrimental to our health - being sedentary for example has been shown to be just as damaging as smoking.

Your approach doesnt work. Policing people and scolding never made anyone change their mind.

L1appel. No offence taken at all. I actually agree with you. It’s barbaric. I just voluntarily INJECTED my lips?!?!?
Wtf.

omgitcantbetrue · 15/02/2020 12:24

Looselipssinkships.... I’m sorry. Hope you don’t find this offensive. They are HUGE.

I actually think they look fine and will look better when the swelling goes down. A lot of people say lip fillers look awful, but that’s because we only see the bad ones in the media. The ones that look good aren’t that noticeable and just give you a fuller lip, hence why no one ever hears about good lip fillers. Just look at kylie Jenner, a massive improvement.

omgitcantbetrue · 15/02/2020 12:26

I hope that’s the look you wanted?
I wanted mine to be subtle... sub perceptive. HA.

LittleSweet · 15/02/2020 12:27

I think they look like you have had them done because the bit above your top lip is swollen. I think you've had too much put in your top lip.

L1appelDuVide · 15/02/2020 12:27

If you think that’s scolding @MimiLaRue then you’re in for a treat when someone comes along to do exactly that. The OP has posted in AIBU after all and so far she’s got off lightly and perhaps look at your own words and tone before you post at others - defensive much?

The current trend of doing things like this to your body (especially on a whim as PP pointed out) has created a monster. The drive to push women into altering their appearance to please others and for in to what’s aesthetically ‘acceptable’ to society is vulgar and cruel and should not be encouraged in any way shape or form. It’s that that’s unkind.

Triglesoffy · 15/02/2020 12:28

I’m coming from a good place and I think they look fine. I wish my pencil thin mean looking lips looked like that.

To pick up on a PP, you said you had it done in a whim. Did you have an initial consultation at all?

Please keep posting photos over the next few weeks as I am seriously considering lip fillers. Did the needle hurt?

SinglePringle · 15/02/2020 12:31

I love the irony of you ‘no-one notices good lip fillers / look at Kylie Jenner’s lips for an example of lip fillers you can’t see’!

GrinGrin

Champagnetaste · 15/02/2020 12:31

They are just swollen, in a few days they will look fab.

I get mine done regularly and no one has ever noticed, so I disagree that you can always tell when someone has had them done

L1appelDuVide · 15/02/2020 12:32

I mean @omgitcantbetrue I have piercings and tattoos galore, that I guess is also violent and barbaric but none were done on a whim. None were done because I feel pressured into having them to look acceptable and there has never been one ounce of regret felt, which is certainly what you’re feeling now.

FWIW I don’t think your stupid. I just wish you hadn’t felt like you needed to do it.

ofwarren · 15/02/2020 12:33

looselips have you got a before photo of your lips? I'm actually in shock at your photo. They look painful, like you have had an allergic reaction.

SinglePringle · 15/02/2020 12:33

Champagne there’s a woman at work who’s had hers done. No-one has ever asked her but we’ve all gone Shock and Confused at each other about them. People are usually too polite to comment.

omgitcantbetrue · 15/02/2020 12:33

I can take a pasting. I didn’t post to get a pat on the back. Genuinely curious to hear from women who’ve done this to themselves. Love to see more photos. I never thought I’d do this to myself. I had the idea, called and booked for the following morning and boom.
DH is quite disappointed in me.

omgitcantbetrue · 15/02/2020 12:34

Ofwarren. Yeah. Had to tell kids it’s an allergic reaction. Can’t bare letting my own girls think it’s an acceptable thing to do to one’s own body...

OP posts:
Tryalittletenderness · 15/02/2020 12:34

I think they look alright. I wouldn’t automatically think that you had filler. 😊

omgitcantbetrue · 15/02/2020 12:35

Tryalittletenderness. ❤️It’s all in the name

Russellbrandshair · 15/02/2020 12:38

I think they look fine and will look better when swelling goes down. I have mine done and love them. I’m not being “pushed” into having them as pp seem to be suggesting here and I certainly don’t consider it to be vulgar or cruel. I’m very happy with my lip fillers and they’ve made me feel much more confident about myself. I don’t consider myself to be any more “influenced” by society than people who dye their hair or wear makeup. I will continue to get lip fillers because I love how they look.

BobbyBlueCat · 15/02/2020 12:39

Well OP, you can always ready easy knowing that they don't look half as bad as @looselipssinkships do!

But if either of you think that nobody knows you've had them done, you're much mistaken. Even the 0.5 girls who think they look natural are easy to spot.

damnthatanxiety · 15/02/2020 12:39

SinglePringle incorrect. You can always tell when someone has had overfilled or poorly filled lips. Well filled lips look natural so you would never know. You only see the ones that are obvious IYSWIM. I have seen the most amazingly filled lips.

Ineedcoffee2345 · 15/02/2020 12:41

Massage gently, they will settle once the swelling subsides. Normal to bruise also

ofwarren · 15/02/2020 12:41

My message wasn't to you ohmygod it was to the other woman who posted. Yours don't look too bad. I'm sure they will be fine when the swelling has gone.
