Ok. Just got lip fillers. Yesterday. Are they as bad as I think they are. To me they look deformed! Covered bruises with lipstick....

Hope that didn’t sound too rude...clearly that’s my opinion and not yours as you wouldn’t have had them done in the first place - sorry! They don’t look bad so don’t stress about it..

AlexaAmbidextra · 15/02/2020 13:08

looselips. Is that an attempt to make OP feel better? 😱. Why would you do that to yourself?

LakieLady · 15/02/2020 13:08

OP, would you consider posting another pic in a week so we can see what they look like once the swelling's gone down?

I'm considering getting fillers because my top lip seems to have almost disappeared over the years, and I like wearing lippy, but it seems to emphasise how thin it is.

I'd really like to see some genuine, unretouched pics before taking the leap.

LakieLady · 15/02/2020 13:10

Sorry, posted too soon.

Yours do't look too bad to me, OP, especially when taking into account that they're still swollen.

I've seen far, far worse.

mencken · 15/02/2020 13:10

it is the standard 'recently punched' look that lip fillers give. If you like that look, fine - many do. Many also like rectangular eyebrows, orange fake tan, two inch eyelashes and similar that many others also think look ridiculous - which is why you won't get comments as it is either lie or be rude. Up to you how you look.

if you don't like them, don't do it again. And be careful because there's very little licensing in the beauty 'industry'.

Shinysun · 15/02/2020 13:10

@Iooselipssinkships ignore the comments you're getting. I think it's great that you love them and you sound like you're comfortable in your own skin. Who cares what everyone else thinks.

thegreekgoddessofcheese · 15/02/2020 13:12

OP they don't look too bad, but it's obvious they've been "done"

I don't get it, personally. It's a horrid trend and I hope it goes away soon.

grandemac · 15/02/2020 13:17

Some do look like baboons arses though, not yours OP.

AlexaAmbidextra · 15/02/2020 13:18

I’d also be worried about no initial consultation and a practitioner who can see you immediately. That does not sound like someone who is too worried about being safe and professional. Just the 💷💷💷

Bluntness100 · 15/02/2020 13:18

God some people are so horrible.

Op your lips clearly don't look deformed or hideous. The lipstick isn't a great colour granted. The top one is just a little swollen, that's all. Plenty of peoples lips look like that naturally.

IAmDudley · 15/02/2020 13:21

My first thought was ‘They look like Leela from Fururamas lips’ - you might like that though! I think it’s just because of the swelling but I’ve never had my lips done so that’s not from personal experience, I hope you managed to eat and they feel better soon!

river90 · 15/02/2020 13:22

The swelling and bruising does down after a week . When I had mine they'd as a little lump in them that went away after two weeks. It's natural as it settles. Tbh they look fine to me. Just ice them and try not to touch them too much. Just let them be and see how you feel in a couple of weeks when the swelling and any lumps will have settled. If you still don't like them just get the filler dissolved. Try not to panic.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 15/02/2020 13:29

I don’t think it looks terrible Smile

The one give away of even subtle fake lips is that the top lip is always too big. Almost all people have a much bigger bottom lip than top lip, in real life. Fake lips have top and bottom lip the same size.

I once got stung by a bee on my top lip, and it looked extraordinary . It happened on the way to work, I called in sick as it looked like I had gone totally mad with the fillers Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 15/02/2020 13:30

I had a small amount of Botox done the other day and I was thinking 'shit, what the fuck am I doing' when I was chatting to the (highly qualified) practitioner as she had a very done look - very smooth, puffy but pretty lips.

She said to me 'Don't worry, I deliberately have a very done look but I do very natural looks too'

I hadn't said anything to her and I have a very neutral face so definitely wasn't looking aghast at her but she could see I was nervous and scrutinising her face Grin

So some people really do like a 'done' look. And you could see she was 'done' but it still look really good and not overly fake.

The average bloke would not have been able to tell this though - women are much more facially oriented. We look for clues to emotions that men biologically don't look for.

Nutkin123 · 15/02/2020 13:42

I've had mine done before (confidence thing, top lip disappeared when I smiled and I hated it) only had 1ml and it did look much better when the swelling went down!

Had one top up of 0.5 a year later and I've not had anything done now for 3 years.

If it makes you feel better go for it! I disagree that you can always tell when someone's had them done (have a look at the consultant clinic on Instagram) if you get a doctor to do it you will be fine, it's the beauticians I have a problem with!

They will look great once the swelling goes down, massage out the lumps and they will be ok. If you're still not happy in a week you can always get them dissolved!! Don't worry they look very different now to how they will in a couple of days!

ClientQueen · 15/02/2020 13:43

Sometimes you can't tell. I posted my lips on a thread once and was told they were uneven and looked off at one corner. They're not filled 🤣

grandemac · 15/02/2020 14:03

Natural lips can have uneven lines & the top can be same size/bigger than the bottom. It's more the protrusion/upturn & or swollen look or the extra lip line/moustache that gives it away. Victoria Beckham hasn't gone big but you can still tell.

Yummymummy2020 · 15/02/2020 14:09

They should settle in a few days!! There is always a bit of swelling at the start! Icing them works really well just don’t leave it on for more than a few minutes at a time and also nipple balm is great for them too!!! You will hopefully love them in a few days!!!

DailyKegelReminder · 15/02/2020 14:11

Lots of people dont care if people can tell they've had work done. Or try to go for the "natural look" They just like the look.

I haven't been brave enough yet to have my lips done but have spoke to people about it, I wouldn't care if anyone knew I had filler.

bobstersmum · 15/02/2020 14:15

I think filled lips look so porny, but thats my opinion, I do think the trend will die a death soon enough and we will look back at this era with horror!

Slith · 15/02/2020 14:15

Everyone looks more unattractive with fillers (I'm male).

Janaih · 15/02/2020 14:15

Cant believe the nastiness on here!
They look fine to me. Hope they settle nicely for you op.

Princessfaffalot · 15/02/2020 14:16

Looselips I really sympathise. I was in an abusive relationship where I had my head slammed in a car door. It left me with epilepsy. And a massive dent in my forehead. It’s left me unable to have a conversation without a facial spasm and a stutter plus daily seizures. So I really sympathise with what you’ve gone through but I can honestly say that no matter how much you alter your appearance the emotional scars will always be there. I hate looking in the mirror but with counselling and time I might heal. And so will you x

SeeUNextTuesday · 15/02/2020 14:16

I think they look fine! The swelling and the bruising will go and I bet you will love them.

rainpain · 15/02/2020 14:16

I think it's like the big fake boob trend, it will go away at some point.
