To find it odd when people sign cards from animals?

I love animals, I have animals, but I wouldn’t dream of signing a card ‘love Puds, Pud’s spawn and Puds hamster’

Also referring to the pet as ‘brother’ or ‘sister’ Confused

Is it just me?

We love a card in our family and will always choose a nice one for our friends and family's birthdays etc.

I certainly wouldn't include my dogs name on the card I chose..

Because he writes his own! (Obviously with some help from me, his mother)

His grandpawrents get a birthday card from him and so does his aunt (their dog) along with a present...after all it's rude to attend a birthday gathering empty handed... obviously.

I don’t mind it but o do know someone who bought her dog a card for his birthday. The card said ‘Son’. That was a bit much for me and I adore dogs. He can’t read, he doesn’t want a card!

Meh it is not hurting anyone.

I always address Christmas Cards to families including their pets, so Dear Anne, Derek, Amy, Luke and Goldie (where Goldie is their dog) love from newme, catsname and dogsname.

Birthday cards also come from me and animals.

I would say at least 50% of the people I know do the same.....

@PurpleDaisies

🌷I am SO sorry. I totally read your post wrong.

I read...

‘My friends who I know have been struggling to conceive have sent cards from “the bump”, complete with scan pictures. It’s bloody awful’

I’m really sorry 🌷

I am going to have to go to the GP I think as I am having a few problems with things like this. I tried to read something out to the DC the other day and I literally couldn’t make the words on the page make sense nor say them correctly. I have been putting it down to tiredness but I think it’s something more than that.

I really am sorry 🌷

I only do this to people who have looked after my pets or who have their own (so I write Merry Christmas to X, Y and Fido). I give my children Christmas and birthday presents from our animals.
My husband won my mother over by giving me a birthday card from my cats. Neither of them liked cats much but knew I did. It was especially touching as I'm actually not that sentimental about them.

PurpleDaisies · 11/02/2020 20:53

Thanks amelie, I was quite surprised by your post and I’m really glad it was just a misreading. I appreciate your apology. Flowers

Sent my neighbour a Christmas card shortly after he escaped our garden for a roam around theirs signed ‘Loki the naughty dog’ and they sent one back asking us to give Houdini a cuddle Grin glad they took it the way it was intended.

YABU for not including your hamster on your cards.

Should be

Love Puds and Sidney the hamster.

I got a Valentine card today from the dog I sponsor at Dogs Trust!

My GSD is adored. We enjoy spoiling him and he very much is a member of our family. My boy sends cards when it's a close family members birthday (always includes a sassy message).

He's not a furbaby but I can't work myself up over how people choose to care for their pets.

I think if you haven't shared that close bond with it's easy not to "get".
