To find it odd when people sign cards from animals?

I love animals, I have animals, but I wouldn’t dream of signing a card ‘love Puds, Pud’s spawn and Puds hamster’

Also referring to the pet as ‘brother’ or ‘sister’ Confused

Is it just me?

Ha ha.

I say to my son, "let's let your sisters out for a wee" or whatever for my 3 dogs.

And they are always on cards.

Papergirl1968 · 11/02/2020 14:06

Of course they get included on cards. Some cards anyway - with dozens of Xmas cards I do lose the will to live with writing my own name, and the names of dd2 and dd2, and dgc, before I get to the two cats.
And I get ridiculously excited when the cats receive a letter or an email (usually from Pets At Home or somewhere) and read it out to them!

Stan says YABU.

I do it sometimes but I don't think it's BU or NBU just a personal choice.
Tim Pip and Spice the cats agree Grin

TheGlitterFairy · 11/02/2020 14:50

PurpleDaisies with you on the bump and scan pics all the way.

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 11/02/2020 14:54

No but what used to really annoy me is that my exFIL used to sign cards from the whole family

Eg if it was my sons birthday it would have my name, ex name, my ex’s siblings and their partners and children

It was super annoying

puds11 · 11/02/2020 14:54

@MyFuzzyBoy Stan is gorgeous 🥰

@puds11I completely agree with you but you'll find a lot who oppose you on here. I posted a similar thread when my next door neighbour gave me a christmas card signed from mrs nextdoor, mr nextdoor, baby and cat. (complete with little drawing of a pawprint). I got effectively shouted down by a vast number of people who essentialy told me that I obviously didn't love my animals enough if i didn't do this as for them their animals were just as much part of the family as the children. Hmm

Personally I get it if it's a very close friend who knows the pet(s) in question well, or if the card is for a child who loves said pets. But it strikes me as very odd to sign cards to adult acquaintances and include animals.

wheresmymojo · 11/02/2020 15:05

Mine don't just sign cards...they also save up their Dreamies all year to buy their Daddy (DH) and Grandparents (my DM and PILs) presents.

They are Chrimblemouse presents delivered by Santa Paws.

I have to make the purchases for them though because they find it hard to type on a laptop with claws.

Nothing to see here.

wheresmymojo · 11/02/2020 15:06

To be honest I love my cats much more than some members of my family...

MyFuzzyBoy · 11/02/2020 15:09

Thank you puds11.
I will pass on your compliments 😁

RB68 · 11/02/2020 15:11

its called having an imagination and a bit of fun. I only sign from the dog if the dog really likes that person don't bother otherwise

Flappyfishy · 11/02/2020 15:13

I get a Mothers Day card from the cat. My Husband gets a Fathers day card from the cat. We've got some of the photo frames that say 'Baby Boy' on them and yes.... the cats photo is in them Grin.

The cat also has birthday parties, which all my friends and family are invited to.

I appreciate some people might not 'get the point', but to be fair, a 1 year old child doesn't really 'get the point' of a Birthday party, or Christmas - so meh, live and let live. The cat is important to us (It was my Husbands birthday last Friday and the cat faced cupcakes went down well Smile

I do but only to people who "get it" i.e. other pet owners who talk about their pets to me. My cats are members of the family to me, as were the dogs we had when I was growing up.

Floralnomad · 11/02/2020 15:17

Our dog sends his own card for close relatives birthdays and he is referred to as ‘the best child’ , I don’t really care what anybody else thinks . Our pony also sends birthday and Christmas presents to the son of the lady who looks after her .

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 11/02/2020 15:19

When my beloved dog was alive my Mum used to send me "Happy Mother's Day" cards from the dog! I don't have kids so she really was my baby. It's all a bit of fun, I'm actually a very well rounded human being. She also bought her Christmas presents from their dog and vice versa. Said dog also bought my partner a Christmas present. Smile

BossAssBitch · 11/02/2020 15:20

Our two dogs are part of our family so why wouldn't I sign their names on cards to family and friends, who also know and love our dogs Confused

I absolutely adore my dogs, they are the most beautiful, loving, perfect creatures.

Oh, and they are not substitute babies, they are much better than babies Grin

BossAssBitch · 11/02/2020 15:20

I've bought a valentines day card for DH from them as he loves them as much as I do. Haha you would HATE us Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 11/02/2020 15:21

My dog buys me Mother's Day presents

Also our Christmas Cards are the dog dressed as a reindeer...

I really only care about cards from the dog as she gets DH to draw pictures of her in kisses Grin

Plus she actually buys the best presents

Gogolego · 11/02/2020 15:21

I don't say Fido's mummy. But I do refer to friends who play a part in ddogs life as aunts as uncles when they aren't really

phoenixrosehere · 11/02/2020 15:23

Yanbu, however, I just let such people get on with it.

I’m pretty sure whatever pet added could give two s*s about whatever reason a card was sent to us, but know it means something to their owners.

SidsWife · 11/02/2020 15:24

It’s weird and sad. Thankfully I don’t know anyone who does that.

Loveislandlydia · 11/02/2020 15:24

Aw that’s really lovely!

viques · 11/02/2020 15:24

I know a teacher who encouraged her reluctant Y1 writers to write to her cat. They wrote lovely letters to him, and he wrote back to them, so they wrote back........etc.

BossAssBitch · 11/02/2020 15:26

@SidsWife*
It’s weird and sad

Are you always such a joyless fucker Grin
