AIBU to be absolutely fuming that my FIL took his mate round to my house to show him our bathroom, without asking us, without telling us until about three months later when he dropped it into conversation?
FIL - "Ooh yeah, John's bathroom looks lovely, he went with the same tiles as you, as liked how yours looked"
Me - "Oh right, has he seen them then?"
FIL - "Yeah I brought him round one day to have a look"

I am fuming!! This is not a one of occurrence of what I think is a total invasion of my/our privacy.

Yes. She fucking can. Her neighbour has told her he does it all the time.

Had you decided to read instead of assuming your twee little comment was so important that we couldn't miss out on it, you'd have known that.

Well there are times when you don't want someone just walking straight in. Even if someone has a key, surely it would be good manners to either ring/text first, or knock.

Me neither, life’s way too short to be getting angry and potentially falling out with family!

Life is also too short to live it on someone else’s whims and lack of privacy.

If they fall out the blame should surely be on FILs shoulders for not respecting their autonomy

As he has access to your house and thinks it OK to come in with a pal to have a look round, suggest that you have a key to HIS house and invite your friends to accompany you to do the same. I bet he wouldn’t like that!

My MIL AND FIL used to come around to babysit until one day I discovered the "funny noise" they allegedly heard from my and dh bedroom meant they snooped around....including in my lingerie drawer and nightstand! Came home to find a bum-shaped dent on my side of the bed and the drawers open slightly!!! They also ' investigated' DH's nightstand where he keeps the durex!!!
MIL still snoops ! Despite numerous conversations about respecting our privacy she still hears " funny noises" !!!
