Where did you go on your honeymoon?

DP and I are getting married in September and need to start planning our honeymoon. Where did you go and did you enjoy it? We are very open to all sorts of ideas from places in Europe to more long haul destinations. We aren’t so keen on city breaks and prefer being a bit off the beaten track (we’ll hire a car wherever we go).
We’ll also have a long weekend somewhere in the UK.
Thanks

We went on safari in Kenya then on to Mauritius, it was amazing.

Prague. It was a city break though.

South Africa. Cape Town for a few days, then on safari. Finished it with a week in Mauritius. Best thing Iv ever done

OP what about a trip round Europe, megan2018 holiday sounds fantastic, you could visit 4 or 5 different countries and still be in budget. There are some beautiful towns and villages all over Europe, if you get a chance the Alps are beautiful anytime of year.

Mexico, at an amazing place called Xpu Ha, but I think the hotel was pretty much destroyed in a hurricane a few years ago and doesn’t exist any more. Lovely area, though.

We are from Australia and went to Poland, Germany, Italy and France for our honeymoon. 4 weeks in total. Pretty full on as we crammed as much in as we could but we literally loved it all. Poland in particular was a highlight for us.

@Zippetydoodahzippetyay funny my dream holiday was to Australia, Lady Elliot Island was my highlight 😊, beautiful country with stunning beaches.

A cruise to Norway

Riviera Maya in Mexico.

Amazing place, people, food, culture, relaxation, natural beauty, historic interests, nature... we loved it and it's on the bucket list to return one day with our children

Porto Santo.. 1993 Pre Ronaldo. We had to to fly into Madeira and then get a tiny plane to PS.
Our luggage took ages to come off the plane so we missed the second flight. I proceeded to burst into tears at the thought of a seven hour wait in Madeira Airport so DH found the holiday rep who gave us money to go into Funchal for lunch. We still had to wait several hours after.
The island was small and unspoilt at the time. Only one hotel and supermarket. We loved a little shack on the beach called Maria's where we ate a lot. We found a donkey and fed it strawberries... Far too many stray dogs which upset me...

Mexico in an adults complex with beautiful restaurants and bars and a quiet, beautiful beach. It was blissful.

@Gin96 how funny. You're right though, an amazing country and so different all over. I haven't seen enough of it myself, though slowly getting there.

Still waiting on mine 2 years later. Don't think it's ever gonna happen 🤦🏽‍♀️
