Where did you go on your honeymoon?

DP and I are getting married in September and need to start planning our honeymoon. Where did you go and did you enjoy it? We are very open to all sorts of ideas from places in Europe to more long haul destinations. We aren’t so keen on city breaks and prefer being a bit off the beaten track (we’ll hire a car wherever we go).
We’ll also have a long weekend somewhere in the UK.
Thanks

San Fran, Vegas and Lake Tahoe. Would definitely do it again or recommend it.

Robs20 · 10/02/2020 14:46

South africa safari and then the Seychelles. It was amazing!

PinkiOcelot · 10/02/2020 14:47

We went to Lake Garda.
Had a lovely week despite the weather being crap for 5 days out of 7. It was April though.

Lake Garda. It's beautiful. Lovely wine and food and recommend here. We visited here for the data from Garda, but you can also stay here too. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/AttractionReview-g1201971-d2161452-Reviews-ParcooTermaledellGarda-ColaLaziseeProvinceoffVerona_Veneto.html.

Amalfi Coast Italy. Even in late October it was warm. Beautiful.

Ness1234 · 10/02/2020 15:06

Seychelles, stunning!

Bali for 2 weeks - Ubud and then Sanur; was amazing! Also went in Sept too so perfect time wise to go.

FizzyIce · 10/02/2020 15:08

Another one who went to New York .
Loved it but if I could change it I’d pick Hawaii although we are going this year so not so bad

Mediterranean cruise, loved it, just felt like I needed another holiday to get over it. 😁

Cuba. 9 years ago Yesterday.
3 days in havana
11 in varadero.

Loved it and would love to go back before it changes too much.

Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel in Interlaken. We decided to go for the best we could afford in Europe, as I don't like long-haul. 10 days in complete luxury, and days out on the lakes, in the mountains, and to the top of Europe Grin.

3 weeks in Rajasthan, India. We had a small wedding (as in a dozen guests) and spent the money on the honeymoon. We had a great time and went back 10 years later with our 2 kiddies. Not sure what Sept/Oct is like weather wise though, we went in February and Easter.

jarviscockatiel · 10/02/2020 15:53

We went to Borneo for 18 days. Saw wonderful wildlife and beautiful scenery.

Bihye · 10/02/2020 15:55

We did a month-long USA roadtrip and it was absolutely brilliant, highly recommend.

Satsuma2 · 10/02/2020 16:28

Arse end of nowhere, I even contemplated suicide while I was there. So not great. This was thirty plus years ago so not in that place anymore.

RachelTension · 10/02/2020 16:28

@TheVanguardSix if you get the chance do go! It's totally worth the flight and it's so very beautiful, you won't regret it Smile

Cornwall in October. We didn't realise Cornwall effectively closes at the end off September - by the end of the second week we were doing things like looking at the OS map (This was pre internet), finding things like tumuli (No, I'm not sure either), driving there, peering over a damp drystone wall at a small bump in a field, saying, "Yup," and moving on to the next...
To be fair, though, the scenery was amazing, the accommodation was lovely, and we were so loved up it really didn't matter. Still together over 30 years later.

We did Mauritius in may - bloody amazing. I know mn hates people asking for ££, but as we lived together and didn't need stuff, and knew our friends and family well enough to know they wouldn't mind, asked for contributions towards honeymoon fund (if they wanted to give something - not an expectation). People generously did give and thise vouchers covered the cost of some lovely day trips.

TeeniefaeTroon · 10/02/2020 16:50

New York, SAN Francisco then Vegas. It was fabulous but not relaxing in the slightest 😁
