Hay...

Listening to the wind just starting to pick up here in Suffolk.

Is it bad where you are?

We are verrrry flooded though

Biancadelrioisback · 09/02/2020 17:58

This storm has me totally baffled! I've got friends a few streets over who have more or less barricaded themselves in all day due to the storm, and amber alerts with warnings not to travel! But it's barely windy here...loads of rain but hardly any lying water. The wheelie bins haven't even shuddered yet. We needed to go out this afternoon so I packed an emergency bag for the car with bottles of water and snacks just incase...total overreaction

Aragog · 09/02/2020 18:01

We have had sleet and snow thrown in to the mix of heavy rain and high winds, with the odd bit of lightning.

DH took 17y DD out in the car to go and pick her boyfriend up - he says a lot of the roads were flooded in places when he got down the hill. Luckily DD is getting increasingly confident so took the driving in it in her stride. He did say of he'd realised how dodgy some of the roads would be he'd have driven himself instead.

Biancadelrioisback · 09/02/2020 18:04

Forgot to say I'm in the NE

Dontlickthetrolley · 09/02/2020 18:42

We've had high winds, horizontal rain, my shed roof has tried to detach itself a number of times so have been up and down a ladder in the wind, then blue skies and sun before it's back to wind and rain. Midlands here.

Yabadee · 09/02/2020 19:11

DP left about 4 hours ago to drive the 400 miles back to work in Reading 😔 I’m terrified, he said he’s getting blown about like a ping pong ball. I’m just glad he’s in a wee van and not his hgv

windymillersmill · 09/02/2020 19:23

It's horrible in the Midlands, worse than it was this morning in fact.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/02/2020 19:54

ravensoaponarope West Wales coast here too.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/02/2020 19:55

Wind still v noisy now.

Kahlua4me · 09/02/2020 20:56

Yabadee how is your husband’s journey? It is just blustery down here near Reading.

DecemberSnow · 09/02/2020 21:05

Wind died down alot earlier but has just ramped up again in the last hour

Yabadee · 09/02/2020 21:07

@Kahlua4me he’s just past Birmingham on m6 so getting there, albeit a bit slower than normal. I’m exhausted but can’t sleep til I know he’s in okay 😔 thank you for asking

Thewheelsarefallingoff · 09/02/2020 21:21

Some big gusts again in Norfolk. Just heard something fly across the garden. Luckily we put the trampoline in the garage last night. :-/

WelshMoth · 09/02/2020 22:09

Thankfully, the games settled by about 2pm today and nothing overtly wild happening outside at the moment.

I'm in Swansea.

WelshMoth · 09/02/2020 22:17

*gales

WelshMoth · 09/02/2020 22:24

Spoke too soon 🤦‍♀️
Rain has just arrived with high force winds. One giant gust and it sounded as if my double glazing was going to cave in. Bloody hell! I barely slept last night - another sleepless
Night to come.

rogdmum · 09/02/2020 22:26

We were in London and were supposed to be on the 3:30 train to Edinburgh. Most trains were cancelled but we managed to squash onto the 10:30AM train- standing for the first 2.5 hours. Took 9 hours to get to Edinburgh but fortunately we were able to then get a connecting train home so are finally back. Longest trip home ever!

SirVixofVixHall · 09/02/2020 22:35

rogdmum glad you are hime safely.
Still very windy here.

Justaboy · 09/02/2020 23:07

In case anyone hasnt noticed it we're in for a winday day tomorrow over a lot of the UK, won't be as bad as today so they say..

RapidRainbow · 09/02/2020 23:18

How do people feel about sending kids to school tomorrow? I'd rather my kids at home safe than on break and lunch outside Confused

windymillersmill · 09/02/2020 23:19

Mine are going to school but have been to,d to keep away from the trees, it's got huge grounds so that's not a problem

knowmenclature · 10/02/2020 01:52

How is everyone? Are you all safe and sound.

How is it now down there in in your part of Kernow noche

Is it going on much longer? Do we get freezing winds and snow straight after this too?

confusedandtired99 · 10/02/2020 01:54

Jeez... I thought the storm was supposed to have stopped but it’s pelting it down and just as gusty as it was this morning right now in Northants

HeIenaDove · 10/02/2020 01:58

Still very very windy here in North Essex despite the yellow warning (which came after the amber one) expiring at midnight. Hmm

SunshineCake · 10/02/2020 06:52

We live on top of a hill and in the middle of the night there were a couple of really close loud gusts which were scary. Thankfully no damage out in the front but I'm yet to check the back. Debating about driving the kids to school as the buses are unreliable at the best of the times. Problem is the kids go to school in complete opposite directions and it is an hour from leaving house to dropping two off and then getting to where I walk the dog Confused.
