CF parking thread - picture included

Saturday night causally watching TV and some CF has parked on my driveway not only getting so close to my gate to my front door but blocked my car in as it's parked in front of the garage.

DP is livid as the ring doorbell has decided to die of battery so we can't see who it is or if they a) went into one of the houses who's back gardens go into the alley/road or b) someone that's gone into the pub despite the car park being empty.

We've checked and the cars not been taxed since October 2019!

My DP is currently sat with the blinds open waiting for whoever it is to come back but I'm pretty sure it's been abandoned for the night whilst someone has a drink or two.... so MN, how long do we think they will park here, who do we think it is and what entertainment might arise Grin

Reference police attendance. A guy at work was talking about an altercation outside his house involving two men. His children were asleep in bed, waking them up. The police were initially not interested, so instead he told the police operator that unless the Police arrive soon then someone is going to get hurt! Low and behold two police cars arrived within minutes!
The police officers then asked why he made threats on the phone to the operator, he just said it’s because it’s the only way to get a police response and that he had two men fighting outside his property whilst his young children were trying to sleep and felt in danger.
So OP you could dial 999 next time and say that a suspect vehicle has been parked outside your house and in the current climate of terrorism you want it moved from your property. Possible smoke coming from the bonnet.
I bet they’ll come out then!

jomaIone · 08/02/2020 23:56

FFS lying about terrorism is fucking batshit!!!! Are you stupid??

The police have better things to do than deal with parking problems.

However once threats start, report that.

dwum · 08/02/2020 23:56

Please don't call the police and make up stories, that's such an awful bit of advice.

Good luck for tomorrow. These people sound like utter morons.

Also, what's a ring? Missed point of thread

TrixieFranklin · 08/02/2020 23:57

@JediJim Biscuit

yeetyoik · 09/02/2020 00:23

I expect it was badgers what done it Grumplestiltskin. They break in looking for crisps and abandoned Werther's originals.

Nah, too small. Bound to be a capybara or haggis if you ask me.

VenusTiger · 09/02/2020 00:31

@Goingwiththeflow2019 I wouldn't mention the ring footage at all if I were you. You're giving them a heads up and they might find another way to retaliate out of view of both doorbell and neighbour's CCTV.

yummumto3girls · 09/02/2020 00:55

JediJim - do you actually think the police have nothing better to do. So you think lying is the way to go therefore denying someone who is in urgent need of an emergency response! Angry

whatsleep · 09/02/2020 08:21

@AbsinthedelaBonchance

No a breathalyser is only required to prosecute for driving over the limit. For driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs other evidence can suffice - smell of booze on breath, obvious drunkenness plus erratic driving

Again unless the police are present when this is happening it would be impossible to prove from camera footage?

JediJim · 09/02/2020 08:23

Bit tongue in cheek there. Not suggesting lying as such. But a random car is parked on your driveway (your property) blocking your own car in. So telling the police you’re concerned that a random car has been abandoned and you’re concerned due to the current climate isn’t exactly lying either. It’s factually true in a sense. You don’t know whats in the car or who left it there.
What if you need to take a sick child to hospital? What if an emergency comes up and you can’t get out your own driveway?
Ringing 101 will result in them possibly trying to ring the owner, I doubt they’ll do much more than that.

TossACoinToYourWitcher · 09/02/2020 08:35

Hope all is well this morning.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/02/2020 08:38

I’d update the police again tomorrow and you have footage, they clearly drove home drunk and think nothing of it.
Report away to the DVLA for no car tax.

Definitely do this.

Pinkyyy · 09/02/2020 08:42

I wouldn't waste my time going round this morning. Instead of a drunk/high aggressive twat, he will be a hungover and more irritable one. You won't get a sensible conversation out of him so what are you hoping to gain?

Saddler · 09/02/2020 08:44

Your husband showed great restraint. Be interesting to see what the neighbour has to say for himself

Ouchaheadinmybehind · 09/02/2020 08:52

Let us know how the ‘chat’ goes. I can’t believ people can be so vile. Good job your DH is a big bloke, it could have gone a lot differently if he wasn’t.

BlackCatSleeping · 09/02/2020 08:57

I agree. Don't go round it will only escalate things. He was drunk and talking shit. Just leave it. If he comes back, call the police again.

JediJim · 09/02/2020 09:01

Your husband/ partner shouldn’t have to make the effort to see your neighbour. I wouldn’t bother doing anything.
I think I’d let it go as a one off, and hope it doesn’t happen again, but would keep the footage anyway. If this bloke starts being a dick, then I’d report him for threatening behaviour and report that car.
I wouldn’t go looking for a war if it can be avoided, the bloke is clearly not a good neighbour or good character so I’d just have nothing to do with him.

Apolloanddaphne · 09/02/2020 09:16

Goodness, it was all going on last night! Did the police ever arrive?

chocolateisavegetable · 09/02/2020 10:14

I'm imagining a Chris Hemsworth type in Peppa Pig shorts now.

And now, so am I ..... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

BruceAndNosh · 09/02/2020 12:13

Note that AFAIK Ring footage is only stored for a month by default.
I guess there might be a way of archiving footage, but you'd have to proactively do it.

Stillsexystillsingle · 09/02/2020 12:31

How awful hope that's the end of it now op

Goingwiththeflow2019 · 09/02/2020 12:49

The @dwum Ring is a doorbell which records movements outside and lets you speak to whoever is at the door without answering ie if you're at work

@MyHairIsSoapy we have the standard one £80 I think it was as it's 180• view compared to the newer 160• view.

DP decided this morning not to go and speak to him today especially as pointed out on here, he's not going to be in a fit state to talk. If he starts playing games with his work van on our drive, it's logoed up so will just take photos and let them know/go and talk to him but we are hoping it's a one off drug/drunk rant from them to act all macho to their guests. His visitor created the situation by parking on our drive followed by making the threats (which DP had added to the police log just in case) and this neighbour was reacting to whatever she's gone and said and not facts but wasn't rational enough to have a discussion.

Police didn't turn up but they have the cars details and have been told about our footage of the obvious drunk driving should they ever want it. We have the monthly sub for ring so DP is sure we can extract and save it to our laptop - I don't get involved with all that technical stuff.

DP does however want to redo the drive so we have 'cleared boundaries' by putting one of those lockable posts that fold down and up at the end of the drive way but we will see! I'm really hoping this was a one off as I can't be bothered sorting out builders to redo the driveway

I wouldn't ever exaggerate to the police about a situation. We could have easily said how DSD5 was asleep upstairs but I don't feel we were in immediate danger, just a very very CF making drunk threats in order to feel better about themselves! Smile

mylifestory · 10/02/2020 18:16

Shame I didnt catch this before, if anyone has trouble with cars Parked blocking u in, the council are the ppl to call, they will come and tow it so fast to get some money u wdnt believe! I once had a car parked outside my garage for 2-3 days, I event us,my called the council and the c.f. owner came out when it was being towed but too late

FelicisNox · 10/02/2020 18:37

Just push it onto the road and then go to Tesco and get some new batteries for your doorbell.

Some spies you too would make. 🤣

Buggersticks · 10/02/2020 18:40

I suspect the CF is feeling a bit of a prick today and will keep a low profile. You deserve a MASSIVE apology from him and his guests. What they did was stupid, rude, irresponsible (you might have needed to get out in an emergency) and illegal!! They were trespassing at best! Wonder how they would feel if you parked on their drive? Hope you are OK, confrontation shakes me up xx
