To wonder why so many people are hostile to 'woke' things?

Isn't the definition...aware of and against injustice in society especially racism?
Why are so many turning against progressive attitudes atm and aibu to think people almost revel in political incorrectness nowadays?
Megan and Harry are criticised for being too 'woke' as she does yoga and they like animals etc.
Likewise millenuals are sneered at for being woke and snowflakey.
Well i am proud to be woke...better than the opposite.

If you want a historical perspective, this is not a new phenomenon. At the start of the Victorian period, the equivalent term for woke was ‘cant’. People like Byron used to rage against it. The tabloid equivalents hounded him out of England. ‘Woke’ behaviour in the 1800-20s included believing in ‘helping the poor to help themselves’, believing prostitution and vice was abhorrent, condemning popular ‘licentious’ or ‘cruel’ pastimes like fairs, drinking vast quantities, singing extraordinarily rude songs in public, erotica shops, all-hours bars, condemning people for having fun on Sundays etc.

Oakenbeach Precisely why I posted the article, with the bits in bold, as it seems a waste of resources screening every female (and does that include trans people?), when some will evidently not be at risk.

Karen There is surely enough info out there to direct such screening more effectively? Take my 80 year old Mum, who has had two kids on the NHS, (ergo, bits seen), regular smears, (again, bits seen) and now has to have a ring replaced every three months or so (bits seen with monotonous regularity by an HCP). Why screen her? There must be some metric which would screen more effectively than just asking every female.

Entropy What gets me with that article about FGM is that those wanting to screen seem to think we (the public) have no common sense. We know that FGM is specific to a certain section of the population; we understand why they are screening, so why not say so?
